    Mandalorian Concepts

I,ve been a member for a while now but i've never had the guts to post any original work. Well here goes.
I'm using pen, ink, and photoshop elements 5. Please be gentle with the critiques.

    Standard concept.

    The heavy mando.

    A heavy damage concept.

    The Jedi.

Last, but not least, the Sith Mando.

Hey man! Great work!!!! That sith concept is SOOOOOOOOO freakin AWESOME! I want to make a model of him in Autodesk Maya hahaha! I'd be very interested in seeing someone pull off that sith mando man... Very awesome color scheme AND design I'm not the worlds biggest custom fan but I do appreciate a good design! Mad props!

Wow, like TehEl1te mentioned above, fantastic art work! You have some real talent there! Are you going to attempt to make any or all of these a reality?

Excellent artwork. I echo others comments by saying that the Sith Mando should become a reality. The concept and colour scheme really makes it pop and I really love those double pistols.

    Re: Mandalorian Concepts

Thank you guys so much for the kind words. It's nice to know that someone other than myself likes my ideas.
As for making them a reality, I would love to. I think the gun for the heavy concept would be cool to make with the glowing inside parts.
The heavy damage concept might be impossible with the see through battle droid arms and legs.
The sith will become a reality. He's my favorite.

By the way, I think this thread is in the wrong section. I thought I was putting it in the expanded universe section. I got distracted and hit the wrong button. Sorry admins.

Very nice! I like the spurs on the Standard mando. Was the heavy inspired by Fallout 3 power armor? it looks tight, the light saber blades look a little thin but that's probably just me.

I was wondering if you'd mind if I nicked your visor design from the heavy mando to use for one of my custom lids? It is somthing that has grown on me over the last few days..... Feel free to say "Sod off" But I thought I'd ask.

You're right. The heavy does looks like a power suit. I was actually playing Fallout 3 when I came up with the design. The similarities are unintentional though.
As for the sabers, I made them thicker to begin with, but they did'nt look right.

Sod off! Actually I'm honored you like it. If you want I can post some more detailed views of the whole helmet, or anything else.

man, these are great!!! it's crazy that you were worried that people wouldn't like these. i think that these are better than a lot of the customs that are floating around right now. someone needs to make #1, 2, and 4 a reality too.
    good job!

Cool. It'd be great if you could post some more views of the Heavy Mando helmet. If I do go ahead and do it; it'd be good to know if I could incorporate the visor design into a standard helmet without too much chopping about and having to go through the bother of a scratch build and then remolding it. So by all means post away. And thanks

I've been looking t that heavy mando again. I really dig how you designed the thighs to look alot like mando knee armor. Come to think of it, his left shin looks similar too. Nice going there mate.

Also, that heavy damaged Mando using a Battle Droid head as a belt buckle is totally sick!

    Re: Mandalorian Concepts

Here are some views of the heavy mando helmet and backpack. I threw them together really fast, so the proportions are a little off here and there.

The helmet idea was to have two visors with the top one for targeting and special info and the main one for acute vision. The backside has a blast shield.

The backpack has interchangeable energy canisters.

Liking the nech shield on the lid, I really like the pack too but I think I'd have had the energy cells standing up. Just for practical reasons really. Although it would have give a more RC look to the pack then. Great artwork!

Those images of the Heavy Mando lid are exactly what I was hoping for. That neck shield too is a great idea and will also be incorporated. It should be feasable to do this from a standard Mando helmet. A bit of sintra here, a bit of bondo there and a shed load of time, but do-able non the less.
Thanks once again for letting me do this. It will be a couple of months before I get a chance to start on it but it will be done. Artistic licence will be applied as it won't be a direct copy, but close enough.
By the way. That back pack is also a thing of beauty
    Cheers

Do it to it brother. I would love to see every one of these concepts become reality. I'm just jealous I don't have the time and money to do it myself.
Tdh has some of the most talented artists i've ever seen. I posted my work here in the hopes that you guys would bring them to life. I have no doubt you will more than do it justice. Don't forget to post a WIP.

Only planning to do the lid Skupilkinson. I read you were intending to do the whole suit, that's not a problem as far as I'm concerned. My Heavy Mando lid is going to be part of my Assassin style Mando. Whenever I get around to building that!!

WOW . . . I love the attention to small details, the battle droid head/face is a great touch, I'm intending my current WIP custom to be a bit of a souvenir collector, is it cool if I 'borrow' that idea ? :thumbup.

Dear azheat01,... THIEF! Seriously, go for it and post us some pics when you're done.
I've always thought that the Jedi could have just as easily been the sith with a few modifications ( color etc.). So anyway, make it your own, improve it however you want.

Absolutely! No problem. I think the souvenir collector idea is great. My personal thought process behind the heavy damage concept was that he was very nearly killed in a large droid battle.
After it was all over, he was put back together with parts that were laying around. Super battle droid arm and leg, Droideka laser, and battle droid belt buckle.

Those look great, I have only 1 piece of advice. In the Jedi concept, how about turning the lightsabers around to be like guard shotos, and then give him a double bladed sword on his belt, maby even one that comes apart!!!!! I'm just thinking, what you have now would be great for a quick in'n'out, but not for dueling. However, a mando woth 4 lightsabers. that would be more dangerous than General Grievous.

Any way I bow to your most stellar and unattainable artistic talent. :P

Amazing work, Ner'vod! I'm dying to see these fabricated. On the concepts, is there a time period they are supposed to be from? I ask because the visor design on a few of them reminds me of the Mando in the Old Republic trailer, and a Sith Mando (awesome) seems to fit with that era.

Hey vod; I am enjoying these photos you have of mandalorians. Really sweet. I love the heavy damage mando. That one kicks @$$ along with the sith one. Great job. I really hope to see more come from you.

Thanks again for the kind words everyone. The time period can vary for most of the concepts. Jedi, Sith, Heavy, and Standard could come from any time. The Heavy Damage concept should be from the clone wars period since he is patched together using droid parts from that period.

Should give a try with an assassin or stealth type mando. Just a sudjestion. All of your other work is really good and I bet it would look nice if someone actually made armor of what you posted.

I agree, it'd be awesome to see them a reality. Though the drawing he did of my armor has been in the works for a year now so that one at least will be a reality.

Have you been sneaking around my computer when i'm not looking? An assassin is currently in the works along with another "secret" project.

Sarcastically: Yeah I've been looking through the files of your computer checking to see what work you have been going though with mandos.

    JK JK JK

That popped into my head because I have a tone of different assassin photos and I was thinking what a mandalorian would look like if he had an assassin style of armor. That is why I brought it up. But who knows maybe someone will try and make one of the concepts you have drawn up. It will look cool if I may add as well.

Lovin how the visor is cut on that black and green. The red one is awesome, but the bar across the visor's going to be right in your line of vision. Not the best idea.

You know on some of the concepts you should perform some photos of the mandos who have actually made armor. Your drawing skills are better then mine. Maybe I should get you to draw up my mando LOL!

Wow! I'm glad I found this thread! These are great! oneone1111! I realy liked all of the detail, the unigue antinea/ranger finders, the spurs, the individual crests and emblems, battledroid head, the custom plates, everything!

I like the Jedi a lot. I've had an idea in my head for a long time to make a Mando Jedi with gaunts similar to that. The chracter grew up in the temple, then his master taught him to dual weild sabers. So when he makes his new larger adult sized sabers as he nears knighthood, his little padawan ones get mounted on a set of gaunts. In my design they are under slung though, rather than being on the top, where'd have to make the gaunt really tall so you don't cut our hand off, I mounted mine on the outside/underside of the forearm, in other words, directly aposed to the thumb, like weher you have the droidika blaster mounted on "heavily damaged" but a little closer to the arm that that blast is.

I'm glad you like my concepts. Thanks a lot! I also have to say that I think your idea about mounting the sabers on the side of the gaunts is a better idea than putting them on top. They could be mounted on a swivel mechanism for extra mobility. The character would look really cool in action. Maybe i'll do a revised version when I have time.

Thanks a lot for the props. I'm going to do some more custom mando art for anyone that wants it, however, I have an extra job (doing artwork) through the Halloween season, so I have to get through the end of October to have the extra time. I'm also trying to complete a custom Boba Fett costume for Halloween. I'm already anxious to get back to the mando art.

    Oneone1111, Is this you?? http://edxrox.deviantart.com/gallery/

Reason I ask is, if it isn't you, someone on Deviant is trying to pass your work off as their own! I hate people who do that. He's even named my Mando which is really insulting!
