Kyram's poster board armor

Kyram

Hunter
Hey all. First time posting here in awhile. I just got done making, painting, and weathering my new poster board torso and shoulder armor. The materials used are white poster board (the kind used for art and presentations, basic card stock), newspaper, mod podge. After the pieces were dried and shaped I added a layer of fiberglass and resin to the back for strength. The front has a thin coating of Bondo bodyfiller sanded smooth. Painted with Rustoleum metallic silver, flat black (chest), and apple red (shoulders). Dark brown acrylic paint wash for weathering.

Shown mounted with velcro on my vest with undershirt, stormtrooper style neckseal, and "Trandoshan teeth" trophy lanyard. Let me know what you think. :D

Thanks for the comments everyone. :)

I hope to have some more pics of the rest of my armor up before too long. I've been working on upgrading from sintra armor and am getting some new fiberglass knees and cod in the mail soon. Also made a new girthbelt, leather kama, and am expecting a new belt and holsters as well.

A little update with some of my hardware. A new cod peice and knees (from Judz Dwedd), gauntlets, and custom blaster.

Knees still need weather, I'm just waiting to finish them off with a set of aluminum dart launchers.

My custom heavy blaster pistol. Made with an airsoft replica base, aluminum flash supressor, and a chopped up airsoft scope.

The gauntlets aren't new. I did upgrade them a bit with a missile (fabricated a cradle using cardstock and kneadatite).

fiberglass over craft foam makes for some really spiffy stuff.

you use boat glass or auto glass? large weave or small weave glass.

remember kids wear a mask when using fiberglass. resin fumes are not your friend.

I was cleaning out my storage bin and had my newly "completed" V2 armor laid out on the bed so I thought I'd take some pics. I do plan on having a set of photos taken with my armor on very soon. For now, here's these:

Wow! I am truly impressed with this costume! You did a fantastic job and every time I come back you seem to be doing better and better!
