Kyr'am Galaar custom armour atempt 3(ish)

Kyr am Galaar

Active Hunter
ive been viewing a long time and even started posting for a while, but things always get on top of me and the armour usually gets cast aside which sucks. but ive kinda been given a second wind thanks to, of all things, a couple of dyson hoover handles i found.

Ive started making a rather large gun out of them, usinf them as the main body of the gun with other sections added to fill it out and make it a bit more boxy. ive also finally got round to starting to sort out the dome on my buy'ce, having just finished applying the first layer of filler.

this is going to take a while, but all good things as they say, come to those who wait.

will try and upload some pictures asap.

here are some pictures of the gun and the helmet. also i have added the drawing i did of my mando. the only change is that i am now going to make a helmet for it instead of the rebreather mask idea.
hope you vod like 'em!

Clever use of the Dyson :)

Is the hair on the mando going to be yours or a wig?

Also, what have you used as a filler on the helmet, I like the gill look at the back, but the dome will need some serious smoothing (unless you're planning to stick hair there, hence why I asked :D )

Looking good so far.

it was originally going to be my hair, and i actually did build the rebreather style mask thing, but have decided to replace it with a full mando buy'ce, hence the build. it will take a lot of smoothing, i know, but im ready for a challenge. I just used a general all purpose filler, which i will eventually be covering in fiberglass i bought from a car parts shop. will also be covering the hoover-gun in it too to make it waterproof!
The size of the gun is quite big, but it kinda adds to the character i have planned. Big gun, big pistols, two harpoon missiles in the backpack. this mando likes a big explosion!

i think i have one lying around the place somewhere. but i also need a small cutting disk for my dremel thingy to cut out the t slit once ive made it solid. i cut it out before i applied the fiberglass last time and the whole thing warped out of shape

Yeah, the biggest mistake most builders of helmets do is cut out the T-visor to see what they look like in it, building the helmet puts it under stress and removing the T weakens the structure.

this is my progress so far on the helmet. i have added the fiberglass (P40 in the uk) and i have added the first layer of filler to the top of it (P38 car body repair filler) It will probably need sanding and another layer of filler applied to fill in the small bits i missed, and to make the dome as round as possible, but im going to try and take it slow this time (no patience us Welshies)DSC_0057.JPGDSC_0055.JPG

its a BB gun i bought for a few pounds that then fell on the floor and the mechanism broke. had no use for it until i realise it would make a great grip for the gun. the barrel is filled up with silicone sealant and then its going to be encased in filler to make it merge into the rest of the gun.

ok here's some updates. been taking it slow with the figerglass and the p38 filler, just so i can get it right. have done a fair bit on the ridges on the back, and also decided to copy the key hols slot from a clone trooper helmet for the back.

also there is the obligatory picture of me wearing it. trying to take a picture when you cant see is fun!DSC_0060.JPGDSC_0059.JPGDSC_0058.JPG

greetings again. its been a while since ive posted, and i can blame that on my computer as it has been seriously messed up. but i have made some progress on the helmet. I have cut out the visor T slot, and have done a lot of work on sanding and smoothing. It is almost ready for the first coat of primer to show any more bits that need filler and sanding. I will try and get some pictures up soon, if anyone is interested.

here is the progress i have done so far. This is the first coat of primer to show up any of the areas i may have missed and need work. I have also carved the claw marks into the helmet. the back story of which i am working on. but i just think it looks cool

i have hit a milestone today! finally got the visor sorted. was completely custom built using a sheet of perspex, red lighting gel i "aquired" from my local theatre, and car silver window film. its the one part of the build i really wanted to look good. and i hope you guys like itDSC_0054.JPG

ive painted the inside with some gloss black paint i had lying around so as it takes a while to dry, i cant work on the helmet, but took the opertunity to draw another concept idea. this is generally the same, but i have included a cybernetic arm, which would be awesome if i could actually do it for the costume. i figured as it was prostetic, the gauntlet weapon could be bolted directly onto it. maybe sometime i may get a chance to make it. until then i'll just have to draw it.

Your helmet looks great! The cybernetic arm is a great idea! You don't see that often. Maybe you could make your arm look mechanical like a Borg instead of trying to make an attachment?

i was thinking of making something that would still allow me to use my fingers, like the cybernetic arm on the apprentice in star wars the force unleashed. that way i can keep the twin carbine pistols i have planned for the holsters on my thighs. the design calls for a lot of big guns. there isnt anything subtle about it! :D
