i think im going to have some trouble with the mando mask, but i would really likt to try and make it.
the buckle on the left shoulder (right on the picture) is so that i dont have a cross baldrick covering the mythosaur skull.
and the leather shoulder pauldrons help hid the gaps between the back and the front plates, and the shouder plates themselves.
i just hope it looks as good when i actually get round to making it
I'm sad to see your layered bicep plates go; thought they were really cool.
What sparked the decision to do a 'mask' as opposed to a full helmet? You were almost done with the helmet weren't you?
Are those mufflers on the back?
may keep the biceps, just not have sleves underneath them. i though id like to try somthing a bit different with the face protection, and the helmet was starting to get annoying. im finding it really hard to get the look right. ill still have a helmet in the same colours, but thought id make both.
not sure what the back will be, just an idea i had.
here is another picture, a bit more redesigning done on the "mask". i think its going to be like a gas mask sort of thing, with possible an air tank on the back, as well as the double rocket launchers (that look like mufflers!)
ive also reinstated the range finder, and added an ariel next to it.
hope people like this idea
Actually, I like the idea of adding aerators/respirators with hoses. Sort of just a gas/breathing mask like you said. Cool idea, like that a lot better!
im working on a mock up to see how it works. hopefully everything will look good on it. i like the shortened Tvisor section!

here is a couple of updates. its taking shape slowly, but without a template, its a bit of trial and error.
I'd say go with more of a crusader era mando if your gonna try doing a mask instead of a helmet. Also, maybe give yourself just enough sleeve to your bicep instead of total skin showing on your armor. Would give you somewhat of a montross look.

That looks like what I'm going for with my helmet, only It's more of a Mando pilot. I have two tubes running from the helmet's cheeks to a small "pilot box" on the back of the helmet. Your stuff looks good, keep it up!

just finished the range finder and the "ear" section. hope this is to your liking. its taking a while to get everything done first, but i hope to try and get it painted next week. still a few more details i need to work out

If you read the KOTOR #7 comic then you'll see what Crusader's look like. In fact, one of them wears a mask instead of a helmet, and It's not Mand'alor.
That is some cool armor that you showed in that post but I like the very first one that you have posted. Keep up the good work man.

here is my idea for my backpack. it has the air tank for the mask, with the connecting tubes, and two harpoon like missile heads sticking out at a slight angle. they whole thing has two shoulder straps, one shorter at the front and connects to the buckle above the left chest plate, (so the mythosaur skull isnt covered) and the other goes all the way to the belt, with ammo on it. (see front drawing)
the pouches go all the way round.

does anybody know where i can get a reflective t-visor. its the only thing i need as i think the mask is nearly done!
check ebay bout twenty bucks there is a couple types smoke black and the mirror silver, not sure if they have a red style one tho...=/

actually when searching ebay for the mirror one that I bought I couldnt find it...
how ever if you have an ebay account contact rembrandt-enterprises is the person i bought it from, not sure if he/she is affiliated with t-visor.com but you can ask if he still has some or has the ability to make more?
it was made from acrylic plastic bout 2mm thick and already curved (and a nice silver reflective tint sorta like a two way mirror when light was shined on me you cant see the eyes unlike the smoke black/green visors), not the flimsy stuff I see on ebay today =/ dont know what they were thinking aside from an inexpensive alternative.

here are a couple of images of painting half way done. still have some detail and weathering to do, but thought id see what people thought.
also is a picture of the rifle im building. it is a dyson vacuum handle with an bb gun for the trigger and hand hold, and the rest are carboard sections i built and fitted.
Awesome, this mask is turning out great! You may well even start a trend among customs with these.
I can't really make out the RF/antenna from the pics. Could we get a close-up of the right ear so we can see the antenna better?
That vacuum rifle is very inventive! Great way to use spare stuff sitting around the house. Looking forward to seeing that rifle completed, should look WAYY different than anything else out there.
ive not attatched the rangefinder stalk yet, but will get some close ups of the antenae when i add the detail to them. think ill make the ariels white to stand out. Got the tubing to add as well, and may give it a bit of smoke damage look, as it is supposed to be a gas mask/respirator thing!
More pics. Ive nearly finished now. one or two more small painting jobs, secure the rangefinder stalk, and add the pipes and it will be finished.
I was thinking of using red plastic for the visor, but when i tried it, my vision went red (obviously) and it was hard to see anything clearly. my solution was to put clear acetate as the visor, and have fine red mesh behind it. I think it has worked well, and i can still see clearly out!
there is also a close up of the ear peice. hope you can see it. not that much detail there, but i like it

Sweet, you got the hoses attached! Your idea for the red mesh behind the clear plastic seems to look good. Is it noticeable from the outside?
i tried it on, and i can see clearly out, and when i asked my dad, he said he couldnt see my face inside, so i hope it works. but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so ill just cross my fingers and hope for the best. next job is the backpack to attach the hoses!

Its a really nasty day today, and i cant work on my armour, so to try and keep boomer off my back, i drew a concept picture of my character- Kyr'am Galaar of the Reek clan.

i'll have pictures in a couple of days time of the progress on the rifle. it isnt much, but i like what ive done. ill also post some more concept art once i have it finished. the weather hasnt been especially good for parts making!

I think i missed this, but what'd you make ur helmet out of?
i made the helmet out of mounting board, and then covered it in filler to smooth out edges and then covered it in fiberglass.
the mask is just card, then fillered to smooth edges, sanded and then painted.
new year, new plan. get this kirfing armour done. ive wanted to get it done, but everything is getting in the way of it. so with the new year, im going to make a point of getting it done! hope people are still interested in this thread, even though i have been offline for a while.

when the new year starts i shall be making more armour. im keepingg the mask, but have also designed a variant that keeps the helmet too. ill post some pics of tha drawing soon. hope people like the ideas i have.

so here is the updated plan for my armour. a few less pieces to save on time (i will probably add them on again once ive at least got some armour) and ive reinstated the helmet (though the mask idea is still there, as an alternate)

well ive managed to drag myself away from the medipac and bacta tank stuff long enough to make some progress, and i hope you all like it. its the right hand ear piece. i dispensed with the rangefinder and have two antenae socets. i didnt have a plan going into it, it just grew as i built it!
i have also added a closer pic, just in case!
