That's a very cool color scheme, I like it a lot! And the helmet will look really cool with that red visor. Have you got the helmet done? I'll be watching this thread for all the progress. Keep it up man!

    Re: Kyr'am Galaar armour

i made my first helmet last week. it didnt turn out as smooth as i had hoped, but painted it up to look like my characters grandfather's helmet. now i know how to build it properly, ill start another. i had a bit of trouble with the fiberglass.

better luck next time i expect.

vor'e for the comment. the red visor is my dream.

yep, cut out the main chest armour roughly now. got some cropping and sanding to do, but the drums curve works well

Nice! Buckets and that hard ABS style plastic makes great plastic armor.

Wow thats looking really good! How well does the curvature to conform to your body?
Are you going to put any dents in it anywhere?

the extreme edges may need bending in a touch just to fit properly, but its almost 90% there.

not sure about dents, but there are going to be scratches and gouges in it.

i have a question about the flak vest that the armour is attached to. would a black t-shirt work if i put seat belt webbing in strips on the inside to support the holes for the bolts?

Well it's your custom, so I'd say its your call as to if it looks good. But whether or not it'd be functional, I have no idea. Trial and error?

Well depending on your budget, I would HIGHLY recommend one of LadySewforus's vests. They are fantastic quality and dye-able(I think). But that really just depends on your budget.

But do keep up the good work, and I love seeing progress pics.

cut out the back plate yesterday, and did a bit of bending using a paint stripper gun to heat up the plastic. painted it with primer, and given it a coat of silver to make the metal under the paint.

Really well done all around. The color scheme is sick and the armor is looking good. I don't know about the shirt though. I don't think that regular shirts are thick enough to support armor well, it might tear or something. Keep on working it's going great so far.

Oh-ah, i see what you were going to do. I think that could work. I wasthinking about doing that for my leg armor so it stays close to my legs. It all depends then, on if it'll look good or not.

Ooh, the back and shoulders are looking good! I love that scratch on the one shoulder bell.
How are you going to weather the rest? I forget who, but somebody here simply chucked their armor pieces really high in the air and let them fall on gravel and pebbles and it gave some really good results, haha.
You are making great and really fast progress, keep it up!

the scratch on the shoulder was already on the water drum, i just sanded away the paint after it had dried. ill probably go at it with a screwdriver or something, and the fill in the slashes with silver paint and a small brush.

i saw that technique too, and was thinking of chucking it off a local castle near me. mwah-ha-ha-haa! oops going mad a again!

ive just cut out the bicep plates and have glued them together. im going for a two plate effect.
ive got the collar cut out too, but have had to narrow it down as it was restricting my arm movements.
will post pics as soon as i have some decent progress to show.

while i let the glue set, i was wondering what to paint on the right shoulder pauldron. ive already got the mythosaur skull going on my chest plate.

i was looking at the reek (three horned creature, attack of the clones) and drew this. what do you all think?

Looks cool, ...I like dragons! I like your skull as well, really looks good on your shoulder bell! The back plate looks good too, the scratches already on the water butt just add loads of fine detail, and the blue showing through under the paintwork really does look great! You have done a fine job! (will add the one Im thinking about on mine).

Wow, that dragon would look really cool. I was impressed with how quickly you did the shoulder with the reek skull, and how great it turned out.
Definitely do the dragon for the bicep. I know it will look AWESOME!

im cheating a little with the leather straps. i have a packet of leather ferret harnesses, and also, if i need to, i will use leather dog collars. ive used them before on my mediaeval armour leg plates.

Vor'e Jodo. im working on the dome of the helmet at the moment, as i cant paint my chest plates untill i get them mounted, so that the lines will match up. im cheating and using an old cycle helmet as the dome section, and will either put thick card as the sides and cover it in fiberglass, or make the sides out of plastic sheets.

Here is what i have done today. ive taken the polystyrene padding out so it sits lower on my head (it was too high), built the fin with card, and covered it in filler to smooth out the ridges and gaps. it needs sanding, and probably another layer of filler before it is perfectly smooth, then fiberglass.

I like the helmet. The range finder is cool, but i don't know about having the whole stalk like the eye piece. Especially if you stick an LED in it. The rest looks pretty sweet though. Thats a good idea for the leather straps by the way.

hardly anything. there is only a small amount of filler to fill in the gaps, and smooth over the ridge where the card starts. once its sanded, ill cover it in fiberglass and it should be great

I love looking at these Mandos. Man Your scheme going on is soo cool! I think about what my armor would look like if I made a custom one, mine had a lot of whites/blacks/grays/reds too. Very cool!

Vor'e Sithchick. im glad people like my ideas.

This is what i have got done today. ive sanded down the done, cut out the side and built one of the cheek sections. I will have to put filler around the cheek joints to get a smooth edge, but it will be worth it. hope people like it.

That could be very interesting. I would suggest you modify the "bill", i guess we'l call it. It seems a little long. I dunno something about it seems a little off, but if you get it to work I think it'll look sweet.

Dangit!!! I was going to do something similar, with a bill, as I was going to use an old construction hardhat for my dome... beat me to it! Gotta start working on mine soon...

The bill is definitely different. Looks long, though. Maybe trim it so it's shorter?

This helmet is looking great! I like the *idea of the cycle helmet visor, but I think it may look too much like a cycle helmet visor... if you know what I mean. If it could be modded and disguised somehow - Anyway, I really like the fin on the back. I've been playing around with modding my own fett lid sculpt in a similar way. I half considered doing a sort of mando/clone hybrid, but not sure yet. Great work so far.

Here is the problem as I see it. You spent far too much time either working, hanging out with family and friends or just typing short non-important messages instead of working your fingers to the bone so that you can entertain your TDH family with posts of your AWESOME COSTUME!!! Let me tell you....Friends will be there, family is okay, and do you really need to eat? Sleep? Be comfy in a nice home??? Quit your job! Tell everyone to get lost so that WE can be entertained with your MAD SKILLS!!! Get on it buddy, I don't have all day!!! ENTERTAIN ME!!!

Hey in my own way I say take your time. The more time you take the more of a chance you will have a kick @$$ looking costume to wear at Comi-con, Star Wars Conventions/Celebrations, and costuming parties. If you rush into your costume it will turn out to be ****** and you don't want a ****** costume. Believe me man I know from a costume that I wore from haloween a few years ago.

been doing some thinking, and have desided on a redesign of my armour. colour staying the same, and most aspects staying but will be making it look bulkier, and meaner. got some drawings and will post them soon.
