Kid armor

Actualy, sence not once person is in charge of what you should/shouldn't do, you should go ahead and put your costume together, the way you want to. I'm all for you using pads, etc. on your costume. I don't see whats wrong with using random stuff like that, sence it is a CUSTOM character, and isn't bound to a set of rules.

If you'd like to go a diffrent route for gauntlets, instead of buying Fett-esq. ones, you could do like a couple people have done, including myself, and use these - http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=20105

And as recommended above, you might want to look into buying either a trashcan to cut your Mando armor out of, or some sintra, which is expanded PVC sheet to cut it out of. You can purchase sintra here - www.usplastics.com

Sence your on a budget, I can see why you would want to opt. for a Rubies helmet, but realy, you can't go wrong with buying one of Sarg. Fang's mystery helmets. I know when I was first beggining, I was your age, and had a terrible time saving up money, but your costume will look better with the better quality of products you use. So I'd recommend trying to save up for one, but its up to you. :)

Do you have any ideas on what your costume's color scheme will be,etc.?

Yeah, we aren't telling him what to do buddy, but alright.

Also, to add to Jodo's awesome words. You can always upgrade in the future! As you get older and get a job, you can always upgrade your armor piece by piece, so don't be afraid to experiment. Thats really how we learn what does and doesn't look good.

No need to get defensive Clay, I think he's just echoing the sentiments of being a custom character.

I wasn't getting defensive, he made sure everyone knew that it was a 'CUSTOM"

I'm not saying you where, it just looked like evryone was trying to tell him not to use what he wanted to use, and it is his costume after all. Like Novall said, no need to get on the defensive.:rolleyes I just wanted the poor kid to know he shouldn't give into the pressure of not having his costume the way he wants it, and as long as he's happy with the end results, thats all that should matter. :)

Anyway, do you have a deadline, or like some sort of time frame for when your costume needs to be done? I know when I got in a rush, I ended up messing some of my stuff up. Also as Novall said, you could always upgrade your stuff when you get older, for someone on a budget, it'd proboly be the easiest thing to do.

Jeaze, you can't say anything on this board without people jumping on you.

Just for the sake of agreeing "I got on the defensive"

I'm not a fan of anything that comes out of Big 5 that gets put onto a costume. Unless it's Mara Jade where one has no choice but to use baseball catcher shin guards.

I would recommend you get ahold of a sheet of sintra or some trashcans, and cut them out using the WOF hosted on this website.

i personally use soccer shin guards on my mando...but only because they look like a cross between vader and jango shin guards...so arnt too noticable

Does anyone one have any templates and instructions on making a mando out of a trashcan because i have a couple old metal ones, also i will probably go helmetless for a while

Yeah, look in the armor forum and you'll see the templates. :) As for the Nerf guns being blasters, I know alot of people have used them, by just repainting them black, etc.

Guys, I think a few of you are ganging up on The Clayster for no reason. He is genuinely trying to help this kid out and the kid DID ask for an opinion and that is what he gave. Last time I checked, there was nothing wrong with having an opinion so long as it is not done in a rude or offensive manner...which it was not. So let's not let our personal feelings cloud our judgements and our comments.

Whoa! Be careful with using metal for your trash can armor. Very dangerous to cut out and just as dangerous to wear. Most of the people here can attest to that. Go to a home store (take your Wizard of Flight templates in with you) and buy a nice, smooth PLASTIC trash can for around $20. Good Luck!(y)

Listen you butterbean you must! =D Using a metal trash can is very problematic. For one, they are very thin and will cut you like a knife through butter(no pun inteded butterbean).

It may also cut through the jumpsuit you use. Now, you can round the edges by folding the metal over, may be a tad advanced for a first costume though.

If you round the edges, you should be fine. I would recommend plastic or foam though.

Try and use sheet metal for armor dog, the stuffs great, Its pricey by the roll but its enough to make 50 fett costumes...I just finished my gauntlets (fellow teen mando'ade) and their awsome I will post pics tomorrow, and my rubies bucket I painted the original blue visor trim purple for my FanFac "slade." I'm lucky I worked my arse off so I have $300 to spend for my costume and I ordered all the stuff I need and am makeing a vest at the moment...slades gonna be great...

Dude, he is on about a 150 budget, and he already spent 110 on gauntlets apparently.

I suggest trash can on your budget.
