Looks great. Few questions: what bucket are you using? Love the scratches--what method(s) did you use? I've been considering some claw marks, so I'm especially interested in the marks that begin the three long scratches--the start of them, which I'll call punctures for lack of a better term, though I know they don't go all the way through the helmet. I'm also interested in your keyslot area--never been my favorite, so I'm always looking for alternatives. What items did you use there?
I'm looking very forward to where this helmet is going.
Looking forward to seeing the progress on this! Love the RC books and Kals Character. Nice work on those scratches!... Been thinking of doing a Vau once Boba's done!
DID GUMBY ATTACK YOUR MANDO!!!????!!!!![]()

Looks great man!!!
Looks very cool, just finishing True Colors, awesome book and character
Thanks guys.
The helmet is a Sgt. Fang
The scratches were done with an exacto blade. Just cutting and chipping away for hours to make it more jagged unlike a dremel would. I did smooth out some of the marks to give it that "welded" repair feel.
The keyslot area:
First I puttied up the entire section to make it level with the back of the helmet. Then I cut out the band section and used .08 styrene to make the box sides. From there, I did what any ILM model builder would, stick random model kit parts in there..lol
I really like what you have replaced the keyslots with!
Sweet, I love Kal, I can't wait to see you do him justice!
Thanks for the info, Delta 75. I look forward to more on this.
Looking great man! Can't wait to see more of this.
Update
Weathering is next

Looking good! Nice choice for the gold as well...
All colors are based off the original Skirata design by Ray Ramirez
Thanks for the compliments guys.
Please feel free to post any complaints or suggestions too, I would like to hear all of it.
Sweet!
I look forward to the progress of this one!![]()
Ooooh - I love the scratches!
and the paint job is coming along nicely - cant wait to see more updates.
=)
Are you finished with the weathering, or were you planning on a blackwash or some drybrushing? I was wondering if the edges of the scratches need some grime--to show they've been there for a while?
Still have quite a bit of weathering to do.
I will do a wash on the entire helmet and plenty of drybrushing
that is really nice, keep the pics coming
Looking nice!! Are you going to put a gash on the visor where the big scratch is?
No, I'm going on the basis that the visor and ears (which would contain system components) would be replaced to keep the helmet functional. The scratches themselves would be left as battle scars.
This will be an entire suit soon. The collar and chest plates also have some gouges. I will also be revamping some gauntlets to house Kal's favorite weapon.
hate for you to have to redo parts of it but on page 128 of triple zero it says:
It had detailed crimson and gold sigils and the alloy section that formed the eyepiece T of the visor was jet black. There were telltale scrapes and gouges as if some huge creature had clawed at it.
so I'm guessing it's the eye part of the T visor as opposed to the top of the cheeks that is supposed to be black.
a lot of people also mention brown for the top of the cheeks but I don't remember that being in the book so it's debatable.
Very good info Drago, I thought I had read it was black trim somewhere but I was going off the helmet Ray made for Karen. I'll throw it back on the bench tonight and lay some black down on it.
I still need to mist the cheeks with brown, that parts not done.
The sigils come later, Karen hasn't decided what they are yet.
Thanks for the input Drago.
Wes
no problem man. and if you figure out a good quote or something for the sigils do make them public - I haven't been able to come up with anything good yet.
Made some color changes and applied some weathering

Coming along nicely! I almost think you could go a shade darker on the cheeks! The black trim is working really well!
Very nice!! Looking sweet!
Very nice so far!!
I don't know why, but the way the trim goes around to the back, then takes a dive down the sides of the custom back panel, it just looks awesome. Might have to steal that look.![]()
awesome man, looks good
Thanks guys!
Upper cheeks are still in the works, going to be a few shades lighter than the trim.
Forehead arrows - Black or leave alone?
Good Job! I do love the key slots, wasn't expecting something there like that, really cool!
As soon as Delta tells me exactly what he used (when he gets home of course) I will be using a "Kal Style" back instead of keyslots, I knew I wanted greebles there, and I figure heck might as well have some fan made continuity, and I mean c'mon having a Kal'buir style helm back can't be bad at all imho.
Thanks for the help Delta!
Alexis
*smiles*
wow, looks awesome. great job!
Impressive.... most impressive
Like I told Alexis, the keyslot parts I used are from a Tamiya 1/35 Panther (Panzer Kampfwagen V) Item# 35065
looking sweet! huzzah for kal'buir!
Wow, first of all nice job on the helmet. Second...******! I had that same idea....
lol it doesnt matter because your helmet looks killer!
good I've always been a Fan of Skirata. Look forward to seeing what you've done since the last update.
Little late on updates but here is a quick pick of the plates and the left gauntlet I'm rebuilding.

Nice! What make of armor is that?
I could be wrong but I think I see parts from a X-Wing model for the mods in the gaunlets... Great work and great idea for the keyslot replacement...
**** you Delta and your Awesome buy'ce+beskar'gam! So engrossed was I in this thread that I missed the start of Raiders of the Lost Ark (fume). Seriously though, keep up the excelent work and keep us posted.
Buy'ce=bucket/helmet, beskar'gam=iron skin/armor (in mando'a that is).
This looks to be verrrry promising! Can't wait to see the final product!
I like where your going with it.
I have a drawn out Kal design as well from book descriptions. I'm refining it and will start it soon.
I really like where you put the scratches on the helmet. It suggests that his range was torn off in te battle and later replaced. Very cool!
Looks great. We recently had a question come up about Kal at CT.N, that has started a debate on Kal being 501st acceptable, so I can't wait to see how this turns out.
I started that thread on CT.N, and now for some reason, I get the error "Your posting permissions have been removed" when I try to post. I know this is way off-topic, but is there someone who can put me in contact with an admin at CT.N?
Thanks!
P.S., Great job, Delta75! You're motivating me to get moving on my own Kal outfit.
Thanks guys, I haven't done too much lately but its still progressing.
You need to start your discussion on MERCS http://mercs.firespray.net
Since they are the Mando accepted site of 501
