Judge Valcar = 2000ad Crossover Project

Well I have now started my 2000ad Crossover Project. This is going to be a Judge Dredd style type crossover but still keeping the Mando Armour style also. I will update with some progress work as I work on this project.
Im not trying to create a Dredd just a Judge thats all. New Updates to follow....

Here are some outfit outlines that I have drawn up for this Project on my laptop.. They show the Armour layout from both Front and Back views.
The Yellow in the Helmet will be Gold in colour in the paint job stage.

Looking forward to seeing this one done up.

I have been doing a little work on the Judge Helmet over the weekend. I have cut out the Helmet front logo. I have also fixed it to the Helmet, and I have been building up the base to hold it onto the Helmet and give it the raised look... Here are a few pics of the progress so far....

I have finished the logo basing. And have given the Helmet a few coats of Black primer, after a short while sanding down.... here si the work done so far at this point....

I have now done the Blue sections of the Helmet. I will do the Red sections next, here are the progress shots......

I was not sure what to think at first. Now that I have seen your drawings, I like it. What are you going to use for the rest of the colors?

I do love a project when i get started Asylum... hehe. As for the way its going to turn out here is a coloured version of my outlines before... the yellow will be replaced with the colour Gold.....

Here also is my Lawgiver, that I have made from my spare shoutgun from my Sniper outfit.. I have added a before pic, taken when i was doing my Sniper Mando..... I do have progress shots if needed.....

I have now got round to painting the trim of the Helmet now with the Red spray. Its starting to take shape... heres the progress...

Thanks Toragh, Im having great fun with this project. I have now done some more of the Red work on this Helmet today, heres the finished cheecks...

Also while the paint was drying on the Helmet I also painted my Leg armour, and gauntlet armour... here is a before pic, and an after....

All I now need to do to the Armour above is to paint the straps Gold in colour. Each section of the Armour has a Red outter stripe the runs down the outside edage on both left and right sides when worn.... its coming alone great.....

Thanks JW03, Its been a solid push from the start, and Its been 3 weeks so far from the end of the drawing up stage.... still loads to do, but like you said its getting there.....

The Hoster is finished, and looks great... I have put a logo like the one on the front of the Helmet on the Holster....

A nice touch before sparying the holster was to apply some Black pleather to the outside of it, while leaving enough space to spray the Gold edging...

And now the final stage the Gold and Black paint job.... I think the Holster looks good with the gun. And it looks good on the belt too. I have applied a strip of elastic to the Hoster to hold the butt of the Pistol in the Hoster....

Hi ragamuffin_1616, I used some left over 3mm thick sintra and had cut it out with a knife. Then found some leftover Black pleather from my sith outfit to finish it off.....

Hi Cylrul Pbz, I got the Helmet for my Sniper Mando from Ebay. But this Helmet i got bought from TDH cargo hold from a fellow UK Mando...

I'm now going to make my judges Law book, that can me worn on my belt inside a pouch. I'm also going to make that out of 3mm thick sintra... I will update with progress and pic very soon...

Well here is the work done so far on my Judges Law book.. Its been hand cut out of 3mm thick sintra. I will be doing the paint job on it in the next few days...

I have spent a while cutting out the bantha skull for the front cover. It was tricky but i did it. I have put a spine on the book and a back plate... heres the progress..........

always good to meet another UK Mando... setra. I am enjoying this one, I have now hit the intresting part making the shoulders for the outfit. Im going to use a 3mm thick sintra base's for both sides of the shoulders, and all the bars that make up the look from 10mm thick sintra. Its coming along good so far. This time round Im getting a set of armour from a ebay seller. I had my fill of making the armour buy hand. Besides not to mention all the dust and the mess.... hehe.

Oh I forgot, here is the finishing touch's to the law book. I have hand painted the Bantha skull with Silver acrilic paint... I was going to do it in Gold, but there is goong to be enough Gold in the outfit as it is. And I have found a pouch big enough for it to fit on my ammo belt . I have put a set of magnet fastners on the ammo belt for a better open - close action when taking the Book out and puting it back.....

Well here is how the Shoulders are starting to take shape. Im using a base section that is 3mm, They are not shaped at this time. Here is the progress with them....

These are the 10mm thick Bars that will be applied to the base sections. I now have cut them all out and will be soon attaching them to the base...

In this next post I have done a rough mock up of how they will look, not completed tho, but just a test more than anything.... The both sections will be folded over both shoulders and attached to the chest plates and back plate.....

You did bring a smile to me face BigJon, the funny thing was I had been working on this project to about 2 weeks before starting this thread. I'm at a slow point at this mo, I need to get hold of my primers and the Gold spray for the bars and so on... Im also awaiting my armour to arrive so i can start work on that. But it's a good thing to take time out for a short while, what with this weekends Collectormaina 11, that my Sniper Mando will be making it's first outing.. Its going to be fun. I will however get his Judge project finished before the big Star Wars event in london this July.. Both outfit will be worn that weekend....

Just a quick word to say that I will be updating this topic, I have taken a week out to relax from the project, plus I was trooping with Shadow UK over the weekend at Collectormania 11. And now the weather outside is unfit to be spraying anything.... rain rain thats all we have had this week.... anyhow more updates to follow very soon.....

I have now got myself some Riding boots that im going to use with my Judge outfit. They were a little tight around the shin. So i have had to cut a slit into the front of them to be able to pull them on over my large shin. Thats not a problem, They have turn out just how I wanted them to.. Here's how they look on.....

Valcar, just don't get anymore of those riding jophurs, like the ones you used to wear when we used to dress-up as Klingons... seeing you in those still gives me nightmares..! LOL

Trust me I don't plan to Shadow UK. Today has been another rainy day so it was time to do something with the outfit. So I went do to my local Hobby craft and bought some Gold ribon and some all purpose extra strong adhesive. The plan was to complete the finishing on my Judge Arm and Leg body armour.... Here is a pic of the items used...

Well back to work on my Judge, Today I have finished the Helmet. I was going to have the rangefinder Gold. After some tests to see how it would look, I in the end went with the Blue like the Helmet, and did the stork in silver... Here is how it turned out....the flash has given it the outdoor look. Inside the Blue and the Red show darker....

Today I have done some more work on my Judge. I have now been working on the shoulder plates. I have used glue to hold the bars inplace. The I have drilled out one hole in each bar at each end. I have now used nuts and bolts to hold them in place... here is the Shoulder a shoulder plate just after being drilled............

After doing the same to the other shoulder plate I have fixed the nuts and bolts into both plates... below is some progress shots of how it looks top and bottom.... Im going to cover the underside nuts to avoid any rubbing...

Question??? are you leaving the bottom of the helmet open?
Looks awesome though.

This is how they both look. All I need to do now is sand them up a little then I can primer them before doing the paint job on them......

Thanks Lizard, NovallTalon. I should have my Armour also by the end of this coming week. Then I can then fix the Shoulder plates to the front of the chest armour and the back plate. So the upper body armour fill just be placed over my head and fixed in place by belt type clips on each side.

I can between then start the priming and do the Gold paint job on the Shoulder plates.

It's only the Armour thats holding up this project... I should have this Judge Valcar outfit near complete by mid June.

Lookin' awesome Valcar! Coming along quite nicely. He is the law!!!

Yes Wildabeast, the Visor is on half the normal size, so it keeps the look of the Judge's in 2000ad.

Thought I would add another update on this outfit. I have a few pics of how the leg armour looks on. Here is a front pics and a left and right side shots. I will be adding the Cod Armour to the look very soon. In the next week or so I will be working on the chest Armour...

Here is a close up shot of the Right and left sides, showing the my Lawgiver and my Lightsaber. I am using a Lightsaber in the place of the Judge's Trunchen. When taking the pics I forgot to pop on the Law Book on the belt...

A good eye my man, it's one from RLSA. Out of all he once did, I liked this one the most....

I have been working today on this outfit, while it remains dry. I have now sprayed my Cod Armour and have also sprayed my Shoulder bells. I will now have to cut out a kidney/bum plate and then spray that also... Anyway here are some pics of how they have turned out..... I will work on a logo to put on the Bells in the next few days.....

I have done my first logo tonight on one of my Shoulder bells. I have hand painted the First UK Mandalorian Mercs Clan's Logo, using Silver and Gold acrilic paint. Vok'Chi Clan is in its early stages, but its taking shape...

Here is how the work has turned out... Its hard to get great lighting in my pad, but it's the best I could manage....

fair play this looks great...im shaping and painting my bells today...might try to get the vok'chi symbol on one lol...if time allows for it!

More work on the project has been made in the last 2 days.. I have now started to spray the Chest Armour... All I need to do know is spray the red sections on the belly plate, and touch up the Gold Chest Armour... then I can cover the front section and work on the back plate.... here is the progress pic so far....

It's looking great Valcar. I can't wait to get mine started. I'm thinking of setting up a CD to pay for mine. I just need to get a job first. Do ya think anyone would hire an armorless mando bounty hunter?

Just so ya know, I'm setting up a website to showcase some crossovers. I'm temporarily using freewebs till I can make up the website by scratch myself. I'll release it once it's up to public standards.

Sure go ahead I don't mind, after all it's a crossover outfit, and if your sites going to be showcasing crossovers then why not... Send me the link sometime so I can check it out....

Outfit update: Work has now started on the Shoulder plates. I have spent the last few says, spraying them. I have done the final layer of gold paint by hand on them for a raw look.

I have also finished the Chest Armour and the Back plate. Once the shoulder plates are dry, they will be fixed to the upper body armour, front and back.

I will update this also with some pics at some point in the next 2 days...

I awoke to a nice dry day, so this ment a chance to take the stuff outside and get some pics.. Here is the progress on the Chest and back Armour... I may still add some more detail to the backplate after the shoulder plates are fixed in place.....

The shoulder plates are now finished, in terms of the paint work. I may still add a slight dirty finish to them, but I can make the choice when I see the outfit fully on. I still have to find a way to cover the nut&bolts on the inside of them yet.... but all the same here is the progress shots...

I never have commented on this, but I dont think I can hold out any longer, I absoutly cant get over how cool this is It looks absolutly awsome!

Thanks guys, I have been pouring a lot of imagention into this crossover outfit. It's just a joy even for me to see how the vison is taking shape.

I was woundering if I was to be a Judge from the 2000ad world, just were would I call my Home Mega City.. Well the Mega Citys in the USA have been featured mainly in the Comic books. There have been a few Mega Citys around the world also featured in a few issues.

But as I hail from the UK, I can only be from one..... Brit-Cit.

This would also give reason to why my Judge Helmet has a full face, You would need a full face Helmet in this country.... cos most of the time it's raining...

Anyway... I also did a lot of resurch on the Brit-Cit, and found a cool site that makes a lot of the Judge Badges from around the world of the Judge Dredd Comics..

I was so pleased to find the one's used from the Brit-Cit Judges.
Here is what it looks like... I am going to fix it to the front of the Left Shoulder plate......

Now the Shoulder Plates are dry, I have now fixed the Judge logo onto the left plate using valcro... here is how it looks...

Well with things going the way they have this last few days on this project, why stop now for a breather.... Today I have also fixed the shoulder plates to the Front and back of the upper body Armour.

And I can't stop looking at how its turned out.... It's turned out better than I had ever thought. Here is how it looks from the front and back...

All I need to do now is a little touch ups to the Armour, and then I can work more on the soft parts of the outfit. I am now going to be turning towards the belt section...

Here is a sneek pre-view of how it looks on... I'm not of course going to be have it worn over the T-shirt in the pic... lol

Thanks MandalorFett, yeah it has the look of a Mando Commando, thats was never my vison it would look like, but thats not a bad thing.... I will also be adding a Gold spine to the back plate to finish it off......

I was hoping you would go with all black as shown above in your custom design in this thread, as apose to the Judge's green gloves, etc. Can't get over how good it looks man!

I though I would show a few pics of my Judges Lightsaber. I am using it in place of truncheon...

Well the Upper Armour is looking good. Today I have now fixed the back spine to the Back plate. All that remains is too paint a few of the bolts that are new. I will also be fixing a gold chain to the Armour, I will run it around the top of the Collar Armour and loop it over the back.

Here is how it looks outside at this point... what do you think...
