    guess what? another question (surprise!)

so i finished cutting out my plates, and just applied the primer, and now one of several silver base coats. for weathiring i was thinking putting sealant over the silver coats so they dont scratch off, then painting over those coats with other layers, and then weathering it jax style
A.K.A throwing ur armor at big sharp pointy-esque things.
which would then scrath off different layers of paint, but never the silver

    do you think thatl work?

not really sure. you might have to poly over the base coat. ive never painted plastic and weathered it. just stormtrooper stuff which is easy cause the base is always white.

i woudl say test it on a spare peice first...

Holy **** man! Your armor is astounding. I'm completely dumbfounded at the way your whole suit goes together. It has fantastic continuity. By the way, how did you get your armor to appear so thick? It's only metal isn't it?

    SNAPS HUH?

let me know how that works. i may or may NOT use these on this one and maybe on yours...

    we'll see.

here are some pics... i still don't like some of the individual parts.... but they are uberr easy to make so ill keep trying until i find a shape that works.

as for attaching, i was thinking that i could cut up a second pair of gloves and rivet these plates to them, than slip those over a 1st pair.

as for the weathering...it involved a peice of granite, a tree, and one of our corgi puppies....

...and to answer some questions....YES that IS a dark angels chapter badge on one shoulder. if youre gonna use some 40K deal, please choose a differnt one than mine. even for the DA's there are at least 25 different badges to choose from.

a few of you know but THIS can happen if your helmet is on top of a 7foot shelf in a garage with average heat of 120+, and it falls off.

i located some superglue (the stuff sucks, but maybe itll work for now, and glued the cracks and rubber cemented the back.

we'll see what happens. need to install a new visor. i ahev a few of those lying around, so at least THATS not a problem.

if you notice there is a med sized hole near the range finder. i have the peice that goes there, but it doesnt fit, and im not pulling it apart. so itll have to wait, or maybe back it with a poeice of steel, or something....

    *UPDATE******

    //HELMET REPAIR COMMENCING...

    look, angels!

Sorry about your helmet mate, that sucks. I hope you get it repaired. Must have been a serious blast from artillery or something to bust your helmet like that It's always good to have a survival story like that lol.

Stupid question: what's causing the sparks? As long as I've read about and admired your work, I don't think I've read about or remember seeing many posts about your bucket. Isn't it a Rubies Jango (this one, anyway)? I know all your torso armor (if I remember correctly) is metal, and I believe your greaves are Stormtrooper gear, right? We PM'd about them last year. I believe the construction of your helmet is before my time. Just wondering ...

I was just looking at your pix more closely--are they the posts of the hardware you use to mount your visor?

    rubies one peice jango

yes, coudl only find screws that were too long. i dont expect this helmet to outlast SDCC this year. I will have to replace it. the visor sits funny, and since it shattered just cant get it to sit right.

    update:

a few of you know that i used to have this sniper rifle for this mando, pictured here in 2003, and 2004.

well, it broke sometime in late 04 i think and never really fixed it.

well tonight on a whim, while others were building TK's and force pikes, i slapped this together, and I'm quite happy with the result.

    what do you think?
