    Jango Fett Open Seasons

Ok everyone. I have been in contact with several of you and have read many a post here, but this is my first thread! Yes, I am finally building my Mandalorian Costume, and have decided to go with a Jango Fett open seasons Theme.

I will show you a small video of a Rubies Helmet I have been testing my paint schemes on, and my weathering skills. Here is the video and I will post more progress as it comes!

What a great idea! I plan on sanding/priming/painting/weathering my armor today, if I have time to do all of the above...lol. And as I go, I will make some mroe videos. Thanks for the idea Vadr_h8r!

Ok, so here are some videos of my painted armor. Since Krylon Paint dries so incredibly fast, I have been able to make some swift progress on my armor today. Hopefully before the day is out, I will be able to have it all weathered and be finished with at least part of my task. Thanks for watching! (oh and ignore the piece of grass on the shoulder armor, it was stuck on, but not to the paint, it came right off, lol)

    Re: Jango Fett Open Seasons

Well, I've put some thought into it, and for now, I am not going to weather, or at least not yet, and not as heavily as I did my Rubies, my armor. I would like for the silver to be obvious, not dulled out. Maybe I will do some minor weathering on the edges and whatnot, but for now, I'm going to leave it as it is. I will post pics/vids as I progress.

    Current Progress
-Need to find a red cape
    -Need to find/make rangefinder stalk
-Awaiting response from Bradleyfett about a Jet Pack and a Cod piece
-Awaiting purchase of airsoft tactical shotgun to convert into my main gun
-Awaiting purchase of a voice amp/headset
-Awaiting arrival of knee armor from Asok
-Awaiting arrival of leather belt with pouches
-Awaiting arrival of Dickies black coveralls
    -Awaiting arrival of gauntlets
-Awaiting arrival of custom Vest/Neckseal from Bobamaker (Daz is still on "Holiday" lol)
-Awaiting arrival of custom ears for my helmet from Michigan Jaster
-Am in posession of two Rubies Westar Pistols (quality of those are not quite important because they will always be holstered), Mystery Helmet, two polycarbonate face shields to turn into a visor (two in case I mess one up), a set of holsters, combat boots, chest armor, collar armor, leg armor (minus knees), butt armor, back armor, rangefinder.

PLEASE, if you can think of anything I am missing let me know. Thanks!

Ok, guys, if you haven't seen it yet, this is the new Clone Helmet they're selling for only 30 dollars at Wal-Mart...I know this has nothing to do with my Jango Open Seasons, but hey, I still like it lol. I dont care what anyone says, it's still cool. (At least for me who will probably never make a clone but will instead display it)

Well, now I have weathered my armor! I havent done the helm yet because I didn't have the time for sanding and painting, so it keeps getting pushed back.I plan on doing the gauntlets next, followed by the knees, and then maybe I will actually do the Helmet! Enjoy...

Does anyone know who to contact to get a mildly cheap jet pack? I am on somewhat of a budget and I really don't want to go over 300 dollars. I tried contacting BradleyFett on around August 4th and he still hasn't gotten back to me...so... any ideas anyone?

    Thanks

Jet Packs are the worst things ever for people on a buget. I would suggest making one out of PVC plates, or sculpting your own parts and casting them.

    Re: Jango Fett Open Seasons

Bradley's vac formed pack is 300 bucks. You can build one in about a day if your on a budget. Its actually easier than gauntlets, because the parts are bigger.

Go to the rocket pack forum and get the templates, and take your time.

I also suggest thick superglue and sintra and excelerator to make your day much easier.

Wow...lots of responses. I only worry about it not turning out well as Ive never done or even attempted something like that. I will definately look into it though. Thank you so much for responding! If anyone has any advice on making the pack out of sintra or any other material that may work better please let me know, any advice is more than what I have right now lol.

I will look into those templates too. Again thanks everyone.

their was a thread about 2 or 3 mts ago about a guy tryins to sell ,or trade a bradley fett jet pack ,with armour ,and gounts .look for this thread about 2 or 3 pages back and contact him .you should im sure you can come to an agreement, or buy the hole thing for 300 and flip over the chest pieces and guant youl have no trouble getting rid of what you dont want. i think he wanted something close to 400 for the hole thing , but it was a grip of stuff.

Ok, Ive purchased a used stubby jet pack from another use here at TDH! I decided to go with stubby, because it always seemed more like the one in the comic than the normal JP, and painted silver (possibly with a mod to the rocket) it would look perfect for the part...least in my opinion, lol. Anyway here's a picture. (this is a pic he had posted, I dont have it at my house yet...the gauntlets and boots are not mine )

Ok, Im all finished for now...for today...

I have completed the painting on the helmet, and ear peices, minus the weathering, which I will do before I put the lens in, and all I need to do is find an RF stalk (anyone know where I can get one?) before I continue. Here's a couple of vids of my progress.

Quick update...Bobamaker has assured me that my vest is finally complete and once he finished up on my RF stalk and circuit he will be shipping it for me. Yay! Soon, I'll be able to finish up my helmet! I have the lens I need to cut out, but I still need to put some thought into how I want to pad it. Anyone have any favorite ways? Thanks!

Oh, and updates on the jet pack? With the videos, it's like waiting for the next episode of my favorite show. "Next week, on the Jango Fett Open Seasons build-up, we'll find out how the jet pack will turn out! Or will we? Tune in next time!"

Thanks for the comments, lol, it's like you guys have revived my thread! It's not that I've wanted to quit, it's that I'm waiting on my parts from Bobamaker. I really wanted to finish this by Halloween, but I won't be upset if I don't; I would rather have it look awesomely good than to have it rushed together. Don't worry, costumers...my Star Trek Uniform awaits for this Halloween.

On a more serious note, I hope to be able to make some more progress, and soon. I've got a knee kit I can start working on, if I get time, so maybe I'll do that while I'm waiting. Stay tuned, and find out! lol!

(Unfortunately, no JP progress yet...I still need to sand/prime, then paint it. Unfortunately it will be a mildly boring pack, since it will need to be all grey to match the comic. Maybe I can start working on that soon too )

Yes, I personally like the look and feel of the Boba vest more than the Jango vest. I guess I just don't much like the leather is all. In the comic it actually doesn't look like he really even has a vest on, but when he does it looks alot more like it is flexing and wrinkling like cloth than leather. So in my opinion the vest style is up to the person making the costume, if that makes sense.

YAY! Lots of helmet progress...here's some fun pics and vid, for your enjoyment....though I do have a plea for advice. I've got a bondo'ed RF and I don't know where it came from, it came with my helmet...however, I've got a throw-away Rubies I've done some experiments on and the RF, which is already painted to my specs, is the exact same size, but is hollow. Do you guys think it would be bad to cut off the Rubies RF and put it on my helmet?

Anyway...here's the promised pics and vid (sorry I'm talking so fast in the vid, it had to be under 100MB for me to upload it to photbucket and I had alot to say lol)

    http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=P1020288.flv

To cut, or not to cut...that is the question.

Ok, everyone. It's been awhile...since October to be precise. Now, I'm letting you all know that my goal is to get this thing done by March 10. It's a stretch but I'm going to try.

I need some help... Anyone have any ideas for a JP harness? I can post pics of my pack if you need to see it, but I'm looking for something that can hold it without breaking my back (being somewhat comfortable) and I could use some advice on poking holes in my ABS plastic back plate (which I'm not all that concerned about accidently harming) and also my Bobamaker Vest (which I'm very concerned about accidently harming)

    Thanks everyone!!!

Oh yes, I forgot. I am also in dire need of advice on the lens for my helmet. Is there any good way to cut it that is better than another, or would it be better to just order one that's premade from BM?

I'm not very skilled at cutting these lenses, unfortunately, I've already messed up two of them

i think there are JP harnesses for sale right now in the shop actually. Sorry I can't help about ABS. I don't know anything about plastics. Thats why i used steel. It doesn't mind as much if your dremel jumps... What are the holes for?

For the JP straps. Right now they're both solid, the vest and back plate, and they both need to have holes in them for the straps. I'm worried about getting them lined up properly.

huh. I never even thought about having a jet pack. I don't want to try and drill or cut through this steel. Ammo cans are something like 12g steel. I thought bobamakers vests came with slots? Maybe you should send an e-mail to him?

Above is a pic of the vest, and it has no slots...but you're right. Maybe tomorrow I'll email him. For now, it's bedtime, lol, I'll check this again in the A.M.

I think I have the lens pretty much figured out as well as the rest of the helm. I'm currently communicating with BM about a jet pack harness and the mesh to go behind my helmet's vents. (Will most likely be selling my MQ circuit on these boards after a bit.)

I don't suppose anyone has a regular undented Cod laying around?

Oh and I have a question... anyone have any good ideas for piping sound through the helmet? What's a good way to use a speaker and hide it on the suit?

Well, I believe I have all of the parts! Yay! This weekend I'm going to sit down and make sure all is accounted for (aside from the stuff being mailed in currently) and start working on what needs to be finished that I already have.

I finished up on my RF today, tomorrow after the paint sets fully I'm going to attach it to the Stalk. Once my visor comes in and I attach that, I'll attach the RF stalk and RF to the helmet, and be done with the exterior of my helmet!

After that, foam on the inside and I'll be done!

Sorry for the pic quality I took it with my cell phone...

The Open Seasons mandos have always had a place in my heart. I've been wanting to do issue 2 Jango armor for a while

Thanks for all of the support and compliments! I worked on the gauntlets a bit tonight, I started by laying all the stuff out and staring at it for 10 minutes... LOL!

Then I screwed/Epoxied most of the extras in place.

I have decided not to go with hoses, at least not for now. It's always an option later on, but the OS Jango didn't have any anyway.

Dude I can't believe I haven't checked out this thread sooner. It's too cool to have the videos to go along with the construction! And they're short too, so its not like we have to hear ya yabber on forever . Keep up the great work!

So are you going to keep everything more or less boba? Borden connector on helmet, boba vest and boba gauntlets.

Thanks! Yes, I did try to keep the vids short... even I get bored hearing myself talk from time to time.

I took a chance and bought some gauntlets from ebay, because at the time they were cheaper. I got lucky. To be honest I'm not sure who made them (as was the same with my helmet) but they're pretty sharp, very sturdy, and I like them.

LOL it wasn't my intention, but I'm mixing and matching Boba and Jango parts to make this costume.

I like the way the Boba ROTJ gauntlets look over the Jango ones, and (besides the dent) I also prefer the Boba helmet over the Jango helmet. As for the vest, I decided to go with a Boba vest because in the comic it really doesn't even look like he had a vest at all. And it looks like, if he does, it is fabric, not leather, as it is wrinkling up pretty good... However I didn't want to just put the armor directly on the coveralls.

Thanks for the gauntlet comments everyone, but I've come to a point where I have a question... I think I know what I want to do, but I'd like to see how some of you have done this as well...

How did (for those of you who have finished gauntlets) attach them together? I'd like to see some ideas before I do what I'm considering. (Pics are good! LOL) Thanks!

My rubber knees came in today from Stormrider. Thanks man! I love the FP inside of them and they look totally awesome. I also got my cod and matching butt peice, but will add pics of them later.

The knees need a bit of trimming, nothing an exacto knife can't handle, and then painting. And as it has occured to me, I am in need of darts. Anyone have any? LOL, I just realized that...

I'm going to work on the boot armor probably tonight, but I don't think I'm going to worry about getting the jet pack done for the event I'm going to on the 6th. I'm afraid to cut into my BM vest . For now, I think it looks good without it anyway

Yay! Now that I have armor that's mostly finished, I made my avatar a pic of me! Yay!

Fear not, soon I shall make a new thread that is called (Almost) Finished Jango Fett Open Seasons Costume. This way, it won't take so long to load all of these pics!

Try cutting down your chest armor so that there is more spacing.

And the kness shouldnt be red.

Thanks for the advice. I may modify the chest armor, but it won't be soon. I like how it is for now.

As for the knees, good call. I don't know what led me to believe they were red lmao. It's an easy fix anyway . I'll probably correct it tomorrow.

Just purchased a new set of chest armor, saves me the time of having to mod mine out or make some new. It should come in before next week when I'm debuting this bad boy

I actually purchased the girth belt from Whistle8mp here on the boards.

I got my knee darts today and repainted my knees so they're not red anymore...lol. Now I just need to finish some small details and I'll be good to go again. Minus the JP, which I'll be waiting to do until I do a bit more research and planning.

Hello everyone. I'ts been awhile, but don't worry. Today I plan on working on my gauntlets to finish the small tidbits up, and I will also try to work on my knee armor by weathering them (now that they're the right color) and trimming up/possible attaching the darts.

    Wish me luck
