Help with custom mando

Ion Cannon Gunner

Active Hunter
Hi this is my first post here

Recently, I have convinced a friend of mine to to be a mandalorean with me for halloween (and possibly other activities). I plan to be the original Boba Fett, however my friend wants to do something to their liking.

One catch: my friend is a girl, and would like to produce the type of chest armor for mandalorean females seen in a recent insider issue (sorry, i dont knoe which #).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Okay. Welcome into TDH! :cheers

First of all, look at the "search" button on top of the page and do a search for "wizardofflight templates". you will found the perfect templates to design your armor.
then, go to the "armor" section and open the "Trash can armor" thread. you will find an excellent method to scratchbuild a cheap but good-looking armor.

Now you are ready to create your armor!

You may be a bit late or alternatively extremely early for Halloween! How ever female chest armour isn't that difficult to make. Assuming you use sintra or it's like then you can heat the chest plate and curve it to your friends needs.

Thanks for the help.
I have viewed wizardofflight's templates before (great work by the way) and have already started on my Fett costume using his templates.
I haven't ever worked with sintra before and I didn't know that it would stretch that much.
Very new to this so sorry about my lack in knowledge.

Orthar is the ideal person to listen to concerning making a set of FemMando armor-just check out her own set. I believe the FemMando illustration in the SW Insider, is the one in the link I'll place below. I'm going to use the foot armor as inspiration for my own foot armor, once I get one of the preeminent armor makers here the nod to begin them that is...I'm glad there are more customs getting started. Perhaps you'll show us some pics once you get started. Maybe even do a tutorial so other females will have some information available to them rather than just the male-oriented tutorials...Thoughts?

ok... how do you gett the round in the chest armor without a vac table? i think it looks awsome (but NOT on storm troopers) and hell would love to make a set for a lady friend of mine but have no vac table... help

I've never worked with Sintra or ABS or the like, but from what I've read, you heat up the material and shape it by hand the best you can. It'd probably be much easier to try and have someone who has done a couple FemMando armor sets and have them make your chest plate(s) for you. The rest of the armor should be fairly standard depending upon your size and build. If you're really petite, it may be fairly tricky to make but cool when it's done. I met someone here who makes metal/steel armor-you may want to consider using something like that. He makes them all by hand anyway, so it wouldn't be that hard to make chest armor (or the whole set) for you and you'd be set. If you'd like his info, PM me and I'll send you to him. I'm going to use a set of his leg armor and his price was really incredible as I thought it'd cost alot more to make etc...Let me know what you think.

Happy Holidays!
