will this suit contain a cod and back plate? and do you think the buttons going down the center of the ab plate kind of throws off all the other buttons? they're all in the corners of their armor pieces but the ab is just like, "bam! we're in the center!"

Haha, yeah I struggled with the placement of the buttons.. I should probably re-think that.. Nothing has really been finalized as far as armor pieces, NovallTalon was generous enough to say he'd make some for the project when it gets to that stage..

Read your PM, I think we are on the same page. A seperate top and bottom. With the top close to the actual dress uniform. Keep in mind, it should be a lighter weight material, so it is more comfortable, there will be the layer of the vest, as we discussed and the armor and everything, it can get pretty hot.

    Marine concept

My hubby came up with this idea, what do y'all think?

For the flightsuit, it must be a 2 piece if it is to be 2 colors and the top must tuck into the pants at the beltline. That is really the only way.

    Opinions??

Actually, that looks great. I think doing the chest armor and cod Jango style (chrome) and the shoulders gold metal (rub-n-buff comes in gold too) would look great. the helmet you did below is a little different, but having a two piece "jumpsuit" would be cool, then you can go navy blue up top (w/ red piping) and med. blue for pants with the red stripe on em. Deb I bet you could sew it up to make a one piece suit.

Oh and knees in the gold too.

    That's cooooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I could probably make a jumpsuit, but have it look like two pieces. I think Live wanted to purchase actual marine dress pants, but I don't mind sewing them, should he decide that.

Yes, I can match all the piping as it is on the dress uniform.

That is going to be one heck of a suit.Looks Awesome. Now this is just my opinion, but I would actually keep the damage light, since it is more like a dress uniform.Unless that was your plan and I will shut up.lol
Also, just an idea, what if the ribbons on the chest were actually a custom chest light with the various colors. As if mandalorians had there ribbons say digitally displayed, and changed at will.

I like how the U.S. Navy diver's belt looks like a dress blue's web belt. The red piping is a nice, subtle touch. I like the idea of the shoulder armor being a yellowish hue gold, and somehat "flat", as opposed to reflctive and chrome like. Rather than painting the rank chevrons, you could bolt on regulation , brass rank colar lapels (like a greeblie). Though, it would be considerbly smaller in scale than what's shown above.

I think you should draw it up and make the armor the same color as the dark blue jacket, rather than the color of the pants. I don't think it would blend it out, I think it would look really cool a dark blue.

    Just a suggesstion.

I agree with Wicked Beard, keep the damage minimal IF you're going for a parade, dress uniform look.

The cape would look good if it were blue w/ red blood stripe and red lining. Alternately, a blue cape with just red piping along the edges would be great, too. Just my opinion. Here's a quick and dirty on it.

I also like the idea of sticking with the shiny chrome looking chest .cod, and ab armor.I cannot quit looking at it.lol It gives the outfit a crisp professional look, not to mention a real eye catcher.I would even go so far as to add a marine dress sword to hang off the belt.

You could keep the green braid looking thing on the arm like boba used the wookiee scalps as a trophy.

I think that Lady sewforus' idea is the best with southern hunters cape as well. Not to shiny on the armor though. This project has to be thebest and most admirable out of any i've yet seen. This build strikes me at my deepest core belifes and makes me realize why i love both the corps and mandos. keep up the good work.

The green braid is actually called a Fourragère and is worn by the 5th and 6th Marines. The award of the was a result of being the only regiments in the American Expeditionary Force to receive three Croix de Guerre citations: two in the order of the army and one in the order of the corps — Fourragere and Croix de Guerre with two Palms and Gilt Star. The Fourragere became part of the uniform of the unit, and all members of the organization are authorized to wear the decoration on the left shoulder of the uniform as long as they remain members of the organization. It's fairly important, so make sure you include it. It has the significance like that of the Super commando sigil, which you can only wear if your a super commando.

Oh, I almost forgot. If hes with the 6th Marines, they fought at Belleau Wood, which is considered to be one of the greatest battles Marines have ever fought. It's even where they got the nickname Devil Dogs or Teufel Hunden, as the germans called them. Very, very, very important to Marines. If hes stationed at camp lejeune, NC, he's probably with the 6th. If he's stationed out of Pendleton, CA, he's probably with the 5th.

Sorry to have been so quiet on this project.. Life has been really busy lately, and will be until June.. Once school and Iron Man are done for the year things get a lot simpler for me and I can devote the time and effort I really want to towards this project.. I managed to loose all my workable drawings in a hard drive failure a few weeks ago, but luckily I have jpegs of everything so I didn't really loose too much ground there..

The project is still alive and well in my head, I've just been forced to wait on it until I can really put in the time and effort it deserves..

My pleasure. It's unfortunate to here you lost a good bit of info. At least you've still got some things. My father is a marine, and while he doesn't really care for costuming (or star wars for that matter) he thought that it was really cool, the armor and what you were doing here. Give your friend my regaurds and those of my father as well, as he was with the 5th when he was in the infantry.
