cnat exactly remember what it was called, but something like that. it works just like sintra, only this is what the company i asked recommended.
i have never worked with sintra, but from what iv seen on the net, this stuff seems harder, while sintra is more flexible

    thanks Studio Fett:P
at first i thought of a republic commando look, then just a regular clone trooper. but i will probably make something of my own design, based on mandalorian armors and clone armor

the best way is to get a free photobucket account.. it is sooo easy!! photobucket automatically resizes your pics and gives you the link to paste on here!

ok, i think i got it!

this should be the left shoulder. i first layer is black, then i put some toothpaste on the ares i wanted weathering. then red layer, remove toothpaste and added the silver using a paintbrush.

    http://i458.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC00432.jpg
next is the left arm. i have moved away from using the elastic bands to make it stick. instead im using some pieces of a sponge as padding, glued to the inside.

Re: my star wars armor (the beginnings)

i finally settled for a paint scheme. i never could choose between black or white so did both and mixed in some red, simply because red rocks.
the fist on the chest is the one from the album cover of St Anger by Metallica, only i intend to... customize it a bit.

    http://i458.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC00456.jpg
    http://i458.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC00456.jpg
    http://i458.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC00457.jpg

the black is going to be heavily weathered and show the white bellow, while the red on the shoulders and bucket will show the black bellow.
and yes, the mando symbol on the kidney peace sucks, ill fix that

tell me what you think and plz make suggestions for improvement!

havent got any new pics for you, but i made a quick drawinf of a possible helmet design

    http://i458.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC00460.jpg

its a bit unclear, but the white "thing" is the range finder. i always wandered it was so tall, it would bump into everything, so made my own. the square "eye" is just... a something something

that is a pretty slick x-wing

Before you paint any more you definitely need to fill in your seam lines with bondo or wood filler. It will look 100x better

hmm i guess your right, i had ignored those up until now

wood filler? would plastic filler be better?
and what exactly is bondo? i live in norway and im having some trouble with the translation so i cant really find any

    Re: heavy mando idea!

bondo is an autobody filler that can be found at hardware stores or autosupply stores. It's a two part mixture that you can put into the seams and it will harden. Then you just gotta sand it down.

I'm not really sure what plastic filler is, but I should have mentioned that wood filler is easier to use than bondo, but it's not nearly as strong

Hey that looks cool, great to see someone else using plexi-glas.

be careful with it though, it tends to crack relativly easy in comparisson to sintra.

    Re: heavy mando idea!

thanks for the warning, but its not plexi-glass. i cannot remember the name of it, but its just as bendable as sintra, but i believe it is harder and doesn't break easy at all. lol i tried to break it... nothing really worked except the axe, which made a fairly big dent though.
i read somewhere that you can cut sintra with some sort of knife, i have to use a saw:P

    Re: heavy mando idea!

Lexan. I used to work with it a lot at a hardware store, you seem to be describing it perfectly. I'm gonna use the same material for the armour plates on my suit. It's lightweight, easy to form(with a bit of heat), and unbelievably strong. Seriously, a quarter inch piece of that stuff will stop shotgun slugs. And it's not all that expensive - 4->5 bucks a square foot.
