New Hunter
So I decided I really want to get my own suit of mando armor. I usually go to SD comic con as a jedi its just how I roll. But now the decision has been made. So I need to get a helmet. Any suggestions on which to get? I suppose it should be jango since there is no damage and so on. Rubies collectible helmet go for like 50-60 ish bucks on Ebay. Would that be an ok first helmet to repaint? And if any one else has done so could you let me know how that went? Awesome and thanks .

Welcome to the boards. As a first time helmet, there's nothing wrong with fixing up on of the rubies jango helmets. If you search around a bit, you can see people have done miracles with them.

If that is all you have to spend, then yes a Rubies Jango Deluxe helmet is fine. Quite a few people have used Rubies helmets and made them to look pretty nice.

There are a few nice WIP's as well as the craft ring installation tutorial you'll want to use to enhance it's looks.

Jax Archillies and BigJon (Taglar Dressk) are two that stand out in my mind.

yeah, i've seen some of these Rubies refits around and my jaw drops. even with a little bit of reworking those buckets are nice.. the only thing that i notice giving them away is the size.

Rubies Jango helmets MIGHT be a little small, depending upon your build. My advice is were possible save for a better helmet such as a BM, MLC, FP, Bradley or Sgt Fang. It's worth the extra cash to get the best helmet you can, even if it takes you longer to be able to afford it. Helmets are one of the main features of a Mando costume and arguably the main focus of all the attention. Have a good helmet and it can make the difference between a good costume and a great costume.

Orthar gives some good advice on this. If your willing to spend $60, then think about saving up atleast another $40 and going for something that will last you longer.
