Custom Mandalorian First custom Mandalorian costume (Pic intensive)

Necroposting for a good cause, I assure you.
I just came back to this thread and boy does it bring up some memories... Anyway, I think it would be interesting and informative to show you all where this kit has progressed from where I left it off here. What you see in the previous posts is obviously a Halloween costume. Not approvable by any club ever. Forever.
BUT, I've managed to take my costume from that stage to where it stands today.

Thanks Syper. Yeah you're going the right route by doing it right the first time!

FrancT: No, the trash can armor was retired. I upgraded to sintra plates.

I love the holster set you made. Just my 2 cents, but I think it might look really awesome if you used an O ring instead of a buckle in the center.....of course that'd require a bit more work, but I think it'd fit your look a bit better.

At first I wasn't sure what you were talking about haha
I made that holster set quite a while ago and it currently resides in a landfill somewhere. I'm actually pretty embarrassed of it now. I posted a picture of what the kit looks like since I started putting serious time (and money) into it, but here's another one to show what it looks like:

Am new to the forum. Built a fett costume a year ago for my son, and thought how cool to make one for myself.?. Honestly though, the "requirements" for a legit fett/ 501st are so extensive it seems as though 90% of people anymore are buying precast parts, etc or bartering etc to piece it together vs showing their artistic rendition of the costume. Don't get me wrong. The original costume is awesome, but that's not to say it's not "flawless" in appearances. I love this thread and section of the forum.... Seeing people's interpretations, etc. keep up the awesome work and hoping to soon join the ranks once I come up with a plan. Still teetering on two ideas for my build.

This is my armor all cut out and sanded, ready for painting. This was probably the most time intensive portion of the build (not to mention the messiest). My garage is currently covered with about a ton of plastic dust that my tarp didn't catch. I used a dremel tool to cut out and sand the armor. The trash cans worked brilliantly in terms of the fit of the armor. Where the fit wasn't quite right (such as the legs and back) I used a heat gun to bend the armor. I'm still having problems with that darn back plate.

This is something that I can actually afford to consider trying. But I'm really interested in which brands of trashcan you used (if you remember) and especially the location of the templates on the curved sections of the cans (particularly the back, since it's not in the photos).

Can you provide a now-very-motivated builder some additional guidance on where to place WOF's flat templates onto such trash cans?

Thanks,
