Female mando....begun

Hi guys,I have just started making my chest armour from my coustom mando. The shape is based on the new female mando figures that came out a while ago (Rav Bralor...etc). They are sintra with bodyfiller over the top, so are not equal in size or shape.....but I aint symetrical either! I maybe will get these cast and fibreglassed at somepoint in the future...but these will do for the moment.

Ive put up a photo of my gun..one of a pair. they are strippped out air pistols which I baught from America...last year just after the new UK law banning the importation of replica guns without good reason...but it seems starwars is a good enough reason:lol:cheering Ive put up a picture of what I though they could look like...but I am not very good a customising guns so if anyone has a better idea please say/draw!

Anyway just wanted to show what Ive been doing, any comments good or bad would be appreciated.

Please excuse the face....it will be covered by a helmet!:lol I got this from the US and fits me really well I thought.....except that my legs are a bit too long. I am going to have longish black boots on so this wont be too much of a problem I hope. I am now working on my custom sidearms based on the walther 007 P99G, but I will psot pics of them/or one when I am done. Still working of the chest armour to get them as equal in size as I can. I am hoping to make my armour grey-silver with a metallic green edging (not all the way around) and blue shoulderbells and knee armour.

That suit is a really good fit! Nice find! I'm looking forward to seeing this come together.
As someone (very very) slowly building her own custom I always love to see what the rest of the girls are doing!

I am now working on my guns, at some point I want to get a snipe rifle done...but that is a bit over my head at the moment. My side arms arent going to be that diffrent from the original guns but they are looking good to me so far. Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it!!!

Jump suit looks great! I know how hard that specific style of armor is...try making it outta metal! =D

Great job so far, the only advice Is to be careful of the gap where the outside rounded edge of the armor will meet your vest. If your not careful, it will lift because of your chest and leave a good sized hole. I had to completely redo a metal chest on the female armor I'm working on because of that gap.

I dont think I am going to use the flgihtsuit I have baught now, I am goin g to try and get some grey ones made by bobamaker...fingers crossed, so this is the design I have painted with psp, just for ideas.

I have got this ex army combines groundsheet and rain cloak...thing, I am hoping to use it for my custom, I aint sure how its going to work yet because I want to have some round my neck, gathered like leia's endor pancho, I might make that section separate to the main part which will cover my back, but I will have to make some designs up so I dont ruin it!

Yeah I concer with all above statements. I still need to get softparts for mine too. If boba maker is to expensive(for me it is) i suggest ladysewforus, her stuff looks really good. Shes who i was gonna buy from:cry. Keep pics comin' I love fem'mandos!

I have just been playing around with my colours, have loads, just most are on paper and i have no scanner at the mo. I have got some grey jumpsuits with grey/black armour with metallic blue edging.......looks pretty nice, but will alway look very different on screen to when its made.

This is one I had on paper and painted on PSP

they all look really cool, but my favourites are the last two.

do you mean Ronin get a black jumpsuit? If so I have have just got one off ebay....and hopefully black boots, gunna get some grey material to do some 'binding' around the calves, abomen and maybe wrists (like on Luke Skywalkers boots in New Hope) ...I think im gunna go black/dk grey and green...I did come up with that first and I do still love it!

Still need to finish my guns though....they are looking ok...I can spend some time this sat doing them I hope...If I do I will get some pics up.

This what I was thinking for my own symbol...(Kyr'am Galaar....drew this a few years ago.....wanted to use it somewhere...would love to have a tattoo of it...but thats just too much...so on my armour might work!)

I could put it on my cape.....I do have some black fabric paint, but i dont know how good I would be at enlarging it accurately, I am very particular....and too fussy...If it went a bit wrong I would give up.

dont give up. never give up. if you take your time and have a bit of faith, it will look amazing. trust me.

Started painting my helmet this week, but I dont know what coluor to use on the top and cheeks. I was going to use black...but that looks way too dark, I was thinking about a grey...but that seems a bit boring...what do you think?

I vote for getting the tattoo. You could also maybe work it into some kind of breast plate emblem.

I am considering one persons suggestion of doing it on my cape....but since Im not really sure where I am going with anything at the moment...anything could happen!

What I think my final colour scheme will be

that looks awsome. i really likt the clour scheme, and if you do put the dragon on the cape, it will show up really well against the olive green!

Still working on the helmet, started to do the back, adding alot of masking fluid, and layers of paint, so will hopefully look good in the end.

I will have to get on with my guns soon....at the moment I cant find my dremmel (type thing) so will have to wait until I happen upon it!

what kinda guns you going for? big and nasty or small and effective? hehe

I am having two smaller side arms...and am hoping at some ponit to get a sniper rifle done....always loved using the sniper rifle on halo and GTA Vice......

What are you going to use for the sniper rifle? I've seen another custom mando on here use a Nerf Longshot CS-6, and it looked really awesome once painted.

Shame they cost so much to get to the UK. Only place to find them for UK is on eBay, and they charge £29.99 for the gun (or more) and £19.99 shipping... so all said about $100

I am planning to make it from scratch....I have made a stock...though it is very basic....im just gunna buld from there....but I am concentrating on my sidearms first....they wont take as much to finish.

Fisrt pic is of my belt...got it off ebay for a couple of quid...looks pretty good!! The others are of the back of my helmet...it aint a good job because I think my masking fluid has become a bit rubbish...but has made quite a nice effect where it looks like the paint has been eaten away by acid...or something like that.

The other is of some leather off cuts I have...but I think it will be too thick for me to work by hand...I wanted to make some lara croft style leg holsters...but im not sure I will be able to do it with this.

Here's a trick that a lot of artists, particularly mural artists, use to enlarge image; they use a grid. Just lay a grid of even sized squares over the original and then lay a grid of the same proportions on where you want to draw the enlarged image on. From there it's a matter of redrawing the image using the grid as reference points to where to draw any given part of your drawing. So instead of just drawing a larger image on a blank space you're recreating your drawing one grid square at a time.

Alternately, if you can get your hands on a projector of some kind you can project the original on to wherever you want to have the enlargement on and simply trace over the projection.

Hi peoples! I havent been on for ages, just been a bit hectic and went off costuming for a bit. Im getting back on with it all though. I am currently working on some webbing straps to keep the chest armour where it should be, I will get some pics up when I can...but I need to really get my flack vest done so I can velcro it into place first...but that also means trying to find a good pattern base, thats harder as nothing I lookat seems suitable. Anyway I have also ordered up my paints....just humbrol hobby paints...they served me well in the past so I can also get going with the painting of the chest armour etc. But thats my kinda weak update. Hope everyone is ok with everythng thats going on!
