Custom Mando Guidelines

Price for fiberglass buckets seem to vary widely, and it generally depends upon who you get them from. I ran into a guy who offered me a fiberglass helmet for $50-you should have seen it. It was horrific, and if I'd bought it, I would have had to take it out and shoot it just to put it out of it's misery...So as with anything else, you get what you pay for. If you want the best though (in my opinion) go see Bobamaker...

To each their own I suppose. Personally I'd rather have a signature color and design that folks will be able to know exactly who I am from that color scheme/design from across the room. If I wanted to look exactly like everyone else, I'd have become a stormtrooper or something... Again, to each their own.

Dah, I could not agree with you more on the desire to be recognized because of my design. I am not saying that people should copy a design to the letter, or even to just make one or two small changes. I just don't want to be told "NO you can't use those colors because I use them!" That is the fastest way to push people away from the custom side of things.

On the other question about price. I found a fiberglass bucket on Ebay from a guy in Australia for around 120 with shipping. I think it is a bit thin around the bottom and it's not the best of castings in the world but for a custom I think I can ork with it.

I definitely don't want to promote a group of "color nazi's" or whatever. I think I was kind of looking at the color/design thing like I would a prized hot rod-the vestiges of a hot rod obsessed youth I reckon. I just hated it when I'd upgrade my Mustang and someone else I knew would make the exact same mod! Irksome to say the very least... It's either that, or I'm just too lazy to try and keep modifying my armor so as it is recognizable in comparison with other grey armor, not to mention using "fresh" designs so mine doesn't get too boring-or more boring. Guess it depends upon your point of view...

As you wish.

Am I mistaken, or was that visor pop riveted in place? I kinda like the look of that, and I wouldn't have to deal with the darned epoxy, hot glue or any other messy stuff. Definitely something to consider. I could easily have my visor in place in mere moments rather than continuing to "put off" setting my visor because I'm afraid I'll mess it up badly. Just a bit of smeared Goop can pretty much make a visor one will never see out of very well again. Now, to find my rivets and pop rivet gun...

I find it ironic that I'm thinking about copying the use of rivets when I was just talking about how irksome it is when someone rips off your ideas...Go figure.
