okay... I am thoroughly impressed now. This is turning out amazingly well. I can only hope mine turns out so good.

okay... I am thoroughly impressed now. This is turning out amazingly well. I can only hope mine turns out so good.
I didn't bother with a primer cos I just used Krylon Fusion which doesn't require a primer. I put on a silver layer then put my color over. Worked out pretty well.
Oh, and A'den, yes I'm going to hem my kama.
Thank you for the comments.![]()
thats what i did too w/ the primer used krylon hammer looked good btw the way your armor looks awesome
A kama is Mando'a for belt-spat--or as some like Fi call it a skirt. They are most commonly found on Mandalorians and ARC troopers.
Here are a few pics of kamase:
And in this next one you can see Mirta is wearing a kama:
And for some fun here's a quote about kamase:
"Nice skirt. Really suits you. Hand washable?"
―Fi to Ordo
Hope that helps!
*dances* So I walk in the door and my Dad goes "There's a packaged for you. It's from automotive...whatever." I grab some scissors and tear the box open--my flight suit!!!! Oh, man, its beautiful!!!
Pics with the phone, of course(and my little brothers nerf gun--giant nerf gun):
This one's blurry sorry but it shows the front more:
Yay! My beskar'gam is almost complete!!!
YEAH!!!!Now go attach the plates!!! THEN POST PICTURES!!!
![]()
THATS AWESOME Hey do you have a boy friend that builds armor i'd happily be him![]()
finger off the trigger! mandos are better trained than that! lmao JOKING, JOKING, JOKING! Your flightsuit looks good and the bucket's coming along nicely. Can't wait to see the whole kit!
I cant wait to see the plates on that flight suit.
The sheer amount of "WOW OH MY GOD IT'S A GIRL" in this thread is staggering.
Sweet!!
Any updates? oh yeah where did you get your flight suit?
hey!!! your building your helmet out of cereal boxes, I tried that but it didn't work out very well, but you seem to have it under control.
Kael--LOL! *bows* Thank you!![]()
Sorry Jango, no boyfriend. :P And I bought the suit online from Automotive Workwear.
BAMfett--The one I'm wearing was my "just for fun build" helmet. I'm getting nicer cardboard to make my real one.
Aaaaaand I'm going shopping tomorrow(hopefully) to get material for my vest! Hang in there guys!
So how was shoping ? didn;t get anything in the way of Mando fabric did you?
Last edited by Jango 425; 06-02-2009 at 11:14 AM.
Hehe I lied. I went shopping yesterday! But nothing got in the way of me finally buying vest fabric.(Jango, nice sig.
Awesome verse!)
Pics later...
Well gee thanks guys about the verse. I just got thru taking The Way of the Master class at church it was great and I thought I'd share it w/ everyone
That's good ner vod, It's one of my favorite scriptures. BTW... Ordeyn it's looking good, but my next question is how are you going to do your gauntlets?
I'm always happy to hear any such news.
Onto armor...I took pictures! All of the red stuffs are mock ups since I have no pattern that fits me. So it will be very custom--but I'm doing my best to adhere to the regular vest look.

Here is the actual fabric:

And kal'ika, I don't know about gauntlets yet, but I was hyper tonight and made a sad lil gaunt:
There ya go! And nothing yet on the buy'ce. Haven't bought cardboard and I don't know how much more I can get done on my armor til August cos I'll be gone for most of the summer.
OK, that is NOT a sad lil gaunt... I like it! I'd do a little finishing work add some hoses and paint that sucker! But that's just me. Kandosii Ord'ika!
Kal
BTW... picked up my own Longshot yesterday, painted my chest/back plates today so I'll have that up soon in my WIP. Can't wait to see your finished product!
Looks great so far! Can't wait to see the finished product! My little sister, who is 13, looked over my shoulder and said to me "why on earth is a guy painting their armor purple?" So I told her that you were a girl and she replied "Cool! So girls make armor too? I want a pair!". We'll see where that goes.... Good luck with the vest! =)
at least what you do when you are hyper is productive....
Haha, I love your sister now! You should make her some beskar'gam!![]()
And I made another gaunt for the heck of it and I painted them both silver for the heck of it. They're very shiny.
Things are going well with the vest too! My pattern is basically complete thanks to my Mama.![]()

Cool, glad to hear progress is being made.
I forgot that my sister in law can sew pretty good, so I asked her if she would sew the INDUSTRIAL Velcro onto my vests, she said why not, so I hope to have my armor on my vests soon.
You got any pics of the purple yet? I really wanna see it.
I plan on working on my gauntlets soon.
silver gauntlets with ur armor would have to look awesome, I think a purple overlay would look pretty good too.
Any chance I could get ya to bounce me a copy of the pattern you used for your vest? Otherwise I'm gonna have to lay out my duty rig and try to copy it :S .
Purple...? I posted some pics of the armor from my phone, but I can take some nice ones with a real camera.
I just painted them silver as the base. I'm going to paint them purple after masking. They will look kinda dorky but I wanna finnish them. I'm stubborn like that.
It depends on who the vest is for. Cos I am pretty small.(I did NOT call you fat, I promise!) But yeah, no problem. Will pics do or do you need templates in a...PDF? is that what it is?
PICS!!!! (And a shebs load off them)
I'm thinking about make shoulder bell holders but for the shins cos they REFUSE to stay shaped...grrr. So I'll hold them in place be shear force. (This is where the spray painting fabrics comes in--see next set of pics)
This is an experiment I had with spray painting the red material. It worked well.
Down below are the gauntlets no duh.
These are my patterns. Yes, that's Mickey Mouse.
Oh, and the second gaunt I hot glued together instead of taped. And once I get more glue then I'll go back and do it to the other one.
![]()
not bad... not bad at all... yeah I was needing something to use for basic shape, looks like you're making a lot of progress. Kandosii Ord'ika!
Wohoo Mickey Mouse!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry its been so long it looks great
looks really awesome!!!! cheers to the mickey fabric![]()
you gotta keep the silver for the gauntlets, that would look so freakin cool.
That looks sweet!! Gauntlets look really nice, the silver paint adds to them. Idk about color but sont use the same color on your kama as you do gauntlets because you want the gauntlets to stick out, just because those gauntlets deserve to stick out!Keep it up!
Thanks vode! I appreciate it. The sewing started a couple of days ago and its almost done. I've been having my buir'ika(Mama) helping me out, so not much longer before pictures of all that!
If I did paint em they'd be purple. My kama is black so if I did paint em they'd still stand out a bit.
I honestly don't know... purple...silver... I think either way would look good.
looking good, seems that you are enjoying the building process.
keep up the good work.
Come on its been almost 2 days and no progressLOL no serously i need some pics
hey guys remember she said she'd be away for most of the summer...
yup, so lets just subscribe (i already subscribe) to the thread and be patient.
looks very cool
AH! Oh my goodness guys! I'm SO sorry! I'm now on vacation in another state. But I did finnish the vest and started my new bucket. I also took pictures but never uploaded them (meaning I was too lazy to do it before I left). But I'll be back to the house in early August! And I think I have the camera with the pictures with me so I might post those.
Thanks for the complients and your patience!![]()
tis okey senorita, i know how you feel. iv been doin the exact same thing for over a month now... except im not on vacation in another state, infact im not on vacation at all... im just lazy...![]()

It's alright Ord'ika, mine's stalled out too so I guess we can't really fuss too much! lol jk, enjoy your vacay!
Aw man! 2nd page... *cries* Well, I should post SOMETHING!
So, I haven't done a thing because I'm not back to my house yet. But I'll be home soon! I have to be in my cousins wedding--I'm a bridesmaid--on the 31st and then I don't need to be here any more (not that I'm not enjoying my vacation). And I didn't post at all for this past while 'cos I was at camp volunteering for two weeks. So, yup. I'm excited to get back to work!
Like I said over on the Mercs... have fun Ord'ika!
Kal
We're still here waiting patiently![]()
lol... relax Jango... patience is a virtue for the average, a necessity for the warrior.
Kal

yeah i know and its up to us to keep it this thread alive with post so im just doin' my part
understand completely jango... really, I do... can't wait to see more of this set, but patience is the order of the day, so I shall wait...lol if ur bored u can go over to my art thread and check it out, or Alpha-02's art thread, or my or A'den's WIP threads... we're still working!
Kal
She posted on my thread a few days ago, i wonder why she's not posting here?
Maybe she just hasn't had time to work on it; or maybe, like me, she hasn't been online much thanks to "real life." But I'm scribed now.
LoL, you guys, I'll be home in two days. I've got everything I need to attach the armor and then I just have the helmet. kal'ika, thanks for holding down the fort.I'll be back to work soon!
lol no problem Ord'ika... here to help
All right guys--ladies--, Ordeyn is back in buisness! I'm starting to attach the armor. I used Scotch tape to help me figure out where to place the velcroe:
Oh, yeah, how do you like those Call of Duty pants? Jk, jk...
Anyways, yup that's the plan for today. I'll get bucket updates later!
Looking good!
You're going to make a curvey mando![]()
Welcome back, cant wait to see the finished product.
Hey, great work vode!!!
I agree with all above, John 3:16 is an AWESOME verse.
Can't wait for updates.

looks great Ord'ika! Can't wait to catch back up to u.
Kal
Yes!!! Welcome back Ord"ika! The armour looks great!!! Except you might want to bring the two breast plastes and the diamond up a lit bit closer to the collar. There seems to be a little to much gap there.
A'den
Is there an "E" at the end of Velcro.....![]()
Just playin' girl... your much farther than I am, I did at least get myself some industrial velcro, just haven't sewn it on yet... Hope to get the sister-in-law to do that for me since she's good with a machine.![]()
I can't spell for the life of me...![]()
Okay, the sewing is actually going to occur today! And buy'ce pics!!! And when I say there are a lot I mean a LOT!
My cheapie one next to my new(er) one.
My lovely work station in the basement.
And just for fun.
Yes, I cheated and used tape on the outside. Now, question: should I bondo the not-dome part or use something else? And should I bondo the dome or use something else?
New(er) one looks GR8!! dont forget to glass the inside (but you already know).
You should buy a skateboard helmet, and use that as your dome, takes a lot of work out of your sanding.
P.S. I am SOOOOOOOOOO jealous, you have a basement, I have to work in the crawlspace under the house!!! j/k![]()
I've can make you a dome...here...if you want.
David.
Yeah, you're dome is peaking just a tad too high, need to bring it down just a tiny bit.
Right, I'll trim the tips a bit. Thank you!
And thank you everyone else for your comments!
Sewing is going well:
That's one piece Velcroed and... *counts her armor plates* 7 more to go on just the torso. AUGH! SO MUCH SEWING!!! But it's kinda fun when you don't screw it up.![]()
Looking good there vod.
Looking good!!! I like the whiteboard in the background :P
It's really getting there now
Keep it up Can!
coming along nicely!
doin good Ord'ika... I'm a little behind right now thanks to work... but I'll catch up shortly.
Kal
LoL, yup that was my doodling.
Anyways, I'm done sewing the front and shoulders!
Okay, I'm tired and going to watch a movie with my mom (though I should sleep, cos I have a soccer game tomorrow. Hehehe). Jate'ca! (to bring in some Mando'a--brownie points to who can tell me what it says)
P.S. I have a question: should I coat my armor's paint with some sort of protective clear thing?
hehe, Jate'ca means good night (actually it is a combination of 2 words good (Jate) and night (ka).
Your helmet is a bit big, you might want to trim the bottom a bit.
Ori'buyce, kih'kovid :P
No, don't coat it, It will help you along with a little natural weathering.
Other than that, looks great!!!
Good luck ner'vod.![]()
Not sure if I am right but I think your shoulder bells need to be closer to the body at the top of them, they seem to look separated from the vest.
Either that or put further down.
Something looks wrong in that department...
Apart from that, it looks great, REALLY coming along now
It's the dome part of her helmet, it goes to a peak (Like a lemon) and needs to be cut back slightly to round out the dome, once that is done, the helmet should sit a lot higher.
You know the more I look at it, the more I think You are right. Also, the helmet looks more like the Jango 2 piece right now, you might want to add some support struts to keep it from warping during the glassing process.
Aside from the pointy top... lol it looks good Ordeyn. I would suggest maybe putting a carboard circle over the top of the dome so that it has less point to it. My bucket's not looking anywhere near that good.
Kal
Looks good Ord'ika!!! Very nice on the plate spacing.![]()
