Saz I'm glad you clarified the important differences there! Turkey makes you sleepy though and I should think that would cut down on productivity so I officially band turkey as a an eating-during-or-before-or-even-when-thinking-about-making-armor food!

I wonder if the Mods will tell me that I as a n00b here have no rights to ban anything...

    Re: Custom Mando :D

    So, I promised pictures.

Okay, well to start with I got everything I needed. Then I went outside to a table I had set up.

After that, I cover a board with tinfoil as my resin workspace.

Next, I cut up the fiberglass cloth. You will get little FG cloth strands all over the place. They like to unravel from the crosshatching.

Now is the time to put on the respirator, gloves and make sure your hair is secure. (I got some resin in my hair. Not cool )

Then I got the resin, hardener, and used the resin can cover as my container. Poking a hole in the hardener is harder than you think. (haha hard hardener...) I had to get a nail to puncture the plastic.

Oh, and its a good idea to wipe off the resin spout with paper towel so you don't accidentally glue it shut.

I didn't get very many pics of putting the cloth in the helmet cos my hands were covered in resin and FG cloth. But when you put the stuff in, make sure its flat in there and touching the helmet as much as possible. Also, don't forget to overlap the pieces.

(Yes, that's Michael Phelps... I like Frosted Flakes!)

I started out using a brush to get the resin on the cloth, but it was taking too long so I just dipped the cloth in the resin (like the guy from the video A'den posted) It worked well.

So I got resin in my hair and on my arms. I tried using regular hand soap. Doesn't work. My mother suggest dish washer soap (washer, like dish washer, not the stuff in the sink that gets really bubbly... ) and that worked excellently. The can of resin told me (no, it doesn't talk, sorry) to use paint thinner stuff or something, but dish washer soap worked fine.

    ...

I stuck the helmet in my basement to dry. It stank up the whole house, so unless you LOVE the smell of resin then I suggest just leaving the bucket in the garage.

Then I waited a day, poking at the resin to see if it was hard the whole time, and did the whole thing again:

I just used the lid container over again. No problems there.

I still have some face to do, but most of it is done!

And there you have it folks! Almost a tutorial. And remember to clean up after your done.

I sense, your bucket will be STRONG in the FORCE.......... couldn't resist.

It's gonna be a very strong bucket, you may not be able to stand on it like A'den, but it'll take a lot of bangin before it breaks.

I just pull the resin off my arms, hurts like hell, but hey, I get punched in the face for a hobby, so I shouldn't complain about a waxing

I leave mine in my shed when they are curing, as the smell does stink up everywhere

Hey guys! Haven't been on for a while. Soccer season (both of them) are over now so I have plenty of time to work on my 'gam. I finnished glassing my bucket a couple days ago. Pics later today.

I'm hoping to do some bondoing today. It's raining, but the garage is dry. Is it okay to bondo while it's raining? I mean, does the increased moisture in the air affect the bondo?
