Kal "Waco"
Naw, man!!! I was just kidding, It's kind of a long standing joke with adonian Alpha, and A'den Kyramud. :)

Hey guys, sorry but I've been all over with soccer and getting ready for school and painting/working.
I fixed--hopefully--the pointy dome. I can trim more if needed.
http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...816091706a.jpg
And that's the most I've gotten done besides fiddling with the bells (Thank you Saz, btw)
I know it's not much but it's something!
-CAN
Progress is progress vod. At least it is something....something is better then nothing right?
Looks great!!! for some reason the dome doesn't look symmetrical??? Maybe just the photo.
And I know what you mean, homeschool starts tomorrow for me. :( lol
I think it's just the photo, Fractal.
It looks great Ord'ika!
High five! I'm a home schooler! Er, was. ;)
It might just be the photo. I did take it with my phone. My buy'ce is sitting here in front of me and looks okay but isn't perfect. The dome could be a little flatter, but I think it's all right. How about you guys? Think it should be a little flatter?
Thank you!
Ord'ika if your happy with it... by all means roll with it...lol I think it looks fine. better than what I've got! lol can't wait to get my buckets from A'den
hey... I went to public school and state college, nothin' wrong with education en masse. At least not in a small town! lol jk, Ord'ika I'll be working on ur sketch over the next day or two.
Kal
High five to another public schooler :D
except im still there :(
Hey there I graduated High School with the Class of 2009. I am starting school in another week which means more time to work on mando armor for me. Maybe I will be able to finish the armor peaces up before school even starts. That way the only other things I would have to do is paint the weapon and helmet. Not to bad if I do say so myself.
But yeah your helmet is good....keep it up vod.
I start in a week and a half :( but being in high school gives me time to work on my mando :D
I think it's okay as it is, the helmet doesn't have to be exactly the same as boba/jango's
I'm making mine similar to the TOR version (BH)
I think I want it flatter. My bucket's kinda got this bubble head look to it. LoL... I start school tomorrow and today's my mom's birthday so I doubt I'll get anything done for a while. But I aim to finish it this year. :D
Man I wish I was homeschooled. I hated high school so I dropped out when I was 16 :)
But college is soooo much better, I enjoy going to school now...start back tomorrow on my 2nd year of a Game design program.....sorry for the off topic.
Ordeyn your armor and helmet are looking very good so far, just make sure you get it done by Halloween so you can show it off!
VERY nice work! I sat down and read thru the entire thread today, because I will be building THREE sets of female armor out of trashcans in the near future. Ok, near enough that I bought two trashcans *today* as a start. Fortunately, two of the females are quite small - 9 and 4 - so I won't need as much trashcan material *&* won't need to dish the breastplates. Excellent thread and very gorgeous work.
Oh, and we don't start our homeschooling back up until Sept. I think I'll put armor-making on the cirriculum this year and have the two older kids work on their own armor and have the verd'ika (that right? littlest one?) "help" with hers.
Yeah. Homeschooling is awesome, for those it works for.
I was homeschooled from 2nd grade on through High School (finished at 12), and I loved it. I just ran through everything really fast, and didn't have to wait for everybody else to finish. My sister hated it though, and wound up going to private school from Jr. High on.
Works for some, not for others, I suppose.
And Doc, verd'ika means "little soldier/warrior". Ad'ika would be "little son/daugher". You're the coolest buir ever. I wish my schooling had included Mando making.
Ad'ika also means little one... as in not your child but someone elses, or someone who is small in stature.
Very true, Kal. Thanks. My Mando'a is a little rusty
no prob :D happy to help out
Yea my high school dayz were terrible, c's and d's all the way, but when I went to college, a's and b's, I guess it's because I got to CHOOSE WHAT TO TAKE, (mostly.. I still need a few classes for my Degree).
hmm... sounds familiar, except I had a lil better results in HS, just not good enough to get any scholarships :( . however... did just fine in college. In fact... have to start my masters soon.
I do however have a BS in BS :lol Actually I am working on my BSN, then later will go for my MSN, but higher education is worth it.
Amen! lol, same here... i can't go to the range without my 4 yr old wanting to tag along. It's very important to teach kids the value of safety at an early age, it prevents stupid accidents like the ones we see increasingly happening with adults who were never exposed to good safety training. I was never a boy scout, but I know that they, as well as 4-H, most "Sherriff's camps" and many state LE sponsored summer camps such as Trooper Island Camp in Kentucky do offer such opportunities for kids... I know because I worked at both a 4-H and Trooper Island Camp once upon a time as one of the riflery instructors. Kudos to you ner vod for teaching your kids the important things in life, and not focusing them in on videogames and TV!

Hey, guys, sorry Ive been away for so long! School and soccer are crazy. I'm playing for a school team and a club team at the same time. Homework, practices, and games take up most of my time. I barely squeezed this message in, LoL. But I'll get that backplate attached eventually! I'll keep you posted on any progress I make best I can.
Glad to see your still alive!!! :b isnt the life of a soccer player great? I miss doing what you are describing...:D Now I only play in a few pick-up games everynow and then. It is so hard to find a good team when you are here in AZ and everyone plays mexico style soccer, and you are playing European style...:doh
GO SOCCER :D soccers a great game eh :lol
I'll convert you all to West Brom supporters yet, who needs your Man United and Chelseas? Just because they win things all the time? Nah? You want a local British club for local people like, er, those in the US, and not hunt the glory! West Brom is just that... [/soapbox moment]
What is this "Soccer" you speak of? I know of 'football'..
I never understood why us Yanks call Football Soccer? I mean , you use your feet for Soccer and your hands for Football?!?!
Edit, if you want me to take that last pic down I will, just lemme know ;)
Oh question, which of these look more painful :lol
ok... time for a quick bump up post! Ord'ika, any progress?
Yeah, what's happenin?
School's happening...still. I just barely got this post in because of a two hour delay. My backplate remains untouched as well as just about everything else, but I'm close to a nice break so I can get some work done--this weekend hopefully. I will get SOMETHING done on Saturday! Be ready to break out those whips just in case... ;)
SHE LIVES!!!!!
Doc and Kal'ika: That's right start'em young! The sooner you show them how to handle a gun right the sooner the novelty (and thus the atraction to get it when you're not around) wears off and the respect sets in. The 4H club here used to offer shooting sports, but doesn't anymore because they didn't want to be seen "putting guns in the hand of children." What a load of ****.
a'men saber! it's important to teach them to respect and not fear or mistreat firearms.
*dances* I got work done!!! Backplate is on!
http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...N/DSCN8448.jpg
I jumped into sewing right after a soccer game which is why I'm wearing my uniform still.
And to make you all really happy I put everything I could on so you could see it:

The gaunts and helmet aren't anywhere near done, obviously. I threw the sword in there for fun, btw. And I'm repositioning the bells so they weren't on me for the pics. But enjoy the little update! :D
hey it's lookin' good Ord'ika... I like the color combos a lot and ur making a lot more progress than many of the rest of us lately...lol
Looks great Ord'ika!!! Glad to see this updated!!! :cheering
Those gaunts look really cool...you have any close-ups of them?
:cheers
A'den
Thanks guys! A'den, yeah, somewhere is the thread but I can take more pics. They haven't changed much from their cardboard state, though.
Ahh...I see them earlier in this thread...very nice! Are you going to glass em?
I don't know. I should, but I think the human race knows more about the center of the Milky Way than I do about glassing.
he he... it's really not that hard... altho the gaunts can be quite the challenge to glass, I had trouble with it.
Something Dem and I do is cut a slot in the bottom (inside) of the gauntlet, then fill it with resin and slush that around the inside; as it soaks into the cardboard it will began to become a solid mass with the cardboard acting like the fibre in a normal glassing job.
Then we usually do a brush-on coat on the outside (or maybe two...) then sand it a bit...makes really strong gaunts, if a little brittle (resin without glass tends to do that...)
:cheers
A'den
A'den has the right idea, I love plain resin on cardboard, it becomes SOLID :) I mean you can bonk someone on the head and OUCH :(
By the way NICE PROGRESS.
Ill have to remember this for when i start my gaunts!
and yes! definatly great progress :D
You're going to have to braid that hair young lady :)
yup... it's a femmemando thing! lol
Ord'ika that looks amazing!
A'den and Adonian: Thanks for the resin tip, I'll keep that in mind.
wish i could sew like that...
great work Ordeyn!
HE LIVES!!! CREON!!! How's it going vod?
and yes...me too...I sew with rivets...:b:D
hehe hey whats up. havent been here for so long!:O up until yesterday we have been two man short at work so iv been working for two the past months:p
i try to stay away from sewing as much as possible..:P
Creon! Yo, ad'ika. Aw, it's not that bad! Well, I had my mom with me the whole time in case I really screwed something up. :rolleyes But still...
Okay, so I'm going shopping on Friday and I need to know what brands and blah to buy...and what to buy! Not clothes, :b but like bondo-glass and that stuff. What do I need to glass my gaunts and helmet? Help me make a shopping list guys! :lol
Looking good Ord'ika!!! :D
umm... well u need bondo glass for one! lmao
If you are going the Bondo Glass route you will need:
Bondo glass
Sanding paper grit of about 400
Sanding paper of about grit 800 - 1000
Wet and dry paper of about grit 1500 up
A dust mask
If you are going the fiberglass resin way you will need:
A fiberglass kit
Several cheap paint brushes (Dollar stores will do these best)
Sanding paper grit of about 400
Sanding paper of about grit 800 - 1000
Wet and dry paper of about grit 1500 up
A dust mask
Rubber gloves to protect your hands.
400 grit? I start with 40 grit...:lol
Isn't that just a brick? :)
lava rocks glued onto paper?
well did anyone miss we? just started middle school its pretty rough looks great
Oh how I remember Jr High... I was in Colorado, it was beautiful.
Indoor school, so cool, then I moved to Cali for 9-11, and to Hawaii to graduate and do some college, wow am I that OLD?
Should I rename my thread: "Reminiscing of School"? :lol
Ord'ika, awesome armour. Now we are back on track...;)
:lol Well my school is...... HAHA KIDDING! Ya definatly looks great! (did i say that already? Im slightly forgetful) :lol
Actually Can'ika, you need to post more pictures or we will digress on your thread!
Oh and you either need to move your collar piece up or your chest plates down a smidge!
I might move that back plat up onto the shoulders a little better too. I had to say I'm impressed by how well you molded you plastic tho!
Okay. I have bondo:
http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...930092041a.jpg
Now what?
Go bondo!!! So are you gunna like sit down and slab it on the helmet now or what.. If so I can help with that.
Help? you guys live close to each other?
It looks like the bondo glass container is a different color in the the US
yeah she has standard bondo... not bondo glass... bondo glass comes in a greenish blue colored canister
OH.... i feel stupid :lol
i should have read it haha
First you need to do a tribal dance around the pot, if you have a spare virgin to sacrifice to the God of Bondo, it's always good.
Next thing you do is open the pot and look for the hardener, should be in a tube.
Sacrifice another virgin.
Usually you will have to use the pointy end of the cap to pierce the metal seal covering the tube. Hopefully it will have given you a plastic spreader, if not you will need a flat bit of plastic, at a push a small ruler will do.
Dance naked in the rain.
Grab a piece of paper or card, scoop some of the goop in the pot onto the paper or card.
Shout "Ugga bugga wugga Woo!" to appease the God of Bondo, for he is a cruel master!
Squeeze a small amount of hardener next to the goop.
Win a limbo competition.
Mix the two together and quickly but thinly, spread the bondo over the area, you want to try do this as smoothly and quickly as possible.
Turn around, touch the ground, grab your crotch and go "He He!" (What? too early?)
When the bondo starts to thicken up, abandon it and start with a new batch. Make sure you clean your spatula/ruler properly as bits stuck on it will cause indents in the bondo.
Say "bondo bakes better" three times fast.
Go to the sanding stage when done.
:lol:lol:lol
Basically read the instructions on the back and follow those...
:cheers
A'den
Saz is on a roll this mornin' :lol
I so love female mando's Rawr!!!!!!! :D
wow Saz... wow... lmao It is somewhat of a luck game for beginners tho... ppl like A'den and Adonian... and Saz... have a much easier go of it than the rest of us
I know I'm new but I just gotta say, women mandos are very attractive.:D
yes, yes they are... and they can still kick your shebs! lmao
And that's why they're attractive. ;)
and most also have the whole pony tail thing going on in the back of the helmet. grrrrrrrr! So hot! :D what's up with saz that was too funny i almost fell off my couch i was laughing so hard.
