Custom Mando Blaster

This is what im starting with, a broken paintball gun and an old scope. It's gonna need paint, weathering, accessories, light, the works. Again I turn to you fine Mando'ade to throw some ideas at me. I've seen some Mesh'la (beautiful) paint jobs and weathering in these forums, so I turn to your collective expertise.

To start with i was thinking about removing the stock cove and replacing it with some kind of animal horn. (Rancor tooth)

Thanks in advance Mandos.

It's a good base gun. I would replace the stock with a wooden one, though horn would work too, I suppose. Perhaps a caribou antler? Change up the barrel a bit too; add some kind of a suppressor to it maybe. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Cooling fins along the length of the barrel. Both Fett's ROTJ EE-3 and the E-11's and DLT-19's carried by Stormtroopers have cooling fins which adds to the Star Wars feel of the blasters, so precedent has been set. Personally I'd leave the stock as is.

I'd say some type of bayonet (made out of sintra of coarse) needs to be added to the upside down carring handle. Something like Jester Meerle had in the Jango Fett open season comic.

Have a good one,
James

Right now it retains too much of a rifle vibe. With a barrel length like that, I think a carbine look would suffice better.

Switch out the stock with a smaller one. The horn sounds like a good idea. Add a tapered flash hider to the end of the barrel, and perhaps switch the scope to a side-mounted position to get rid of some of the bulk.

Could take off the the barrel, or cut it off after it tapers down near the rear end of the barrel. I agree the stock should be changed, but I'm not so sure about a bone stock.

First I'ld like to thank evryone for the input it is all very helpful. OrtharRrith had mention putting cooling fins around the barrel to add more of a SW look and feel to the weapon, and it seem there was a gerneral dislike of the barrel itslef, so I changed the barrel to and added a for grip to the front. I agree that putting a horn on the stock pole might not be the best way to proceed, so for now im scrapping the Horn/stock idea for this baster, but mat revist it in the form of a horn pistol grip( much smaller of course). As for the stock that's on it now, I may just add a saddle to it. I was very intrested in Hagen_Nor'ak's idea of a bayonet extending from the beneath the barrel, but I have no experience with plastics of any kind and would need to use some other medium to craft the blade. Alternatively I would put some kind of small missle or rocket in it's place and carry a sheathed beskad at my waist, and if not a beskad perhaps a lightsaber confiscated from some dead shabla jetii. Well this is what it looks like now not much difference but I think im on the right track now.

Any Ideas Ner vods?

I think it would be pretty cool to have a gauntlet/gun combo. Have a flame thrower on the front of the gun, and have a tube that goes from your gauntlet to your gun, givin it the impression that you use your gun, or your gauntlet as the distribution of flammage method.

I would think that almost all of the armour/weapons in a mando suit, would integrate.
Thats if your dead set on adding something else to the front of the gun.

I like the new black barrel better. Paint the grips on the handle to look like wood. Lose the scope caps. And add at least one more scope, maybe two more, one on each side. Think Chewie's bowcaster. It needs something else on the side of the main body. Some knobs, a tube, a box, a magazine, something. Plain smooth body just does not work in the star wars universe (well, at least not in the OT).
It seems a little front heavy with the sight rail mounted below... could that maybe be transfered to the top of the stock? I don't think you need a natural material stock but you need to greebliefy it. Put a little circuit board or a box shape on there. Go nuts. Key to a good star wars prop is never having enough random gutted junk glued to your prop.:D

I agree with all the above. Perhaps get rid of the standard-issue military M4A2 collapsible stock (or equivalent) and rear sight aperature/carry handle, in favor or something a little more solid, not as recognizable.

I was planning to modify both, the stock, and the upside down carry handle, giving them a more appropriate look. I was thinking to use the site mount for that hand guard to mount a rocket or missle of some kind. As lonewolf_1183 so perfectly put it I have to "greebliefy it". The only issue is what to use. Perhaps I could mount some classic SW, Fett gauntlet weapons to the sides. Stormrider mention hoses running from the gun,. I thought it would be cool to have the hose from the flight pack to the gun and have the flamethrower somewhere on the weapon. Also, with the right paintjob those parts will be less recognizable as real world items and fit more smoothly into the SW genre. Alternatively, outside the SW genre, the thought of adding a Predator style laser crossed my mind, what do you guys think?

Thanks again to every1 for the input.

Oh ya!!!! Reminds me alot of The Sheapard's gun in Firefly, considering I'm preety sure they used a PB marker as the base for it as wel. -

I like it alot, I'd also consider carrying it. :cheers

I added a Greeblie just the on off switch of a cheap flashlight to plug up the hole in the front of the gun. I also reove the aim site on the carry handle along with the elevation essembly. Really starting to look up. Im in the process of aquiring an old paintball pistol that looks like it was preowned by a bounty hunter. I'll post the new pics soon. Thanks to every1 for the input.
