Wayii! I have a 2 page thread! lol Yeah Pacx I'll get it posted this afternoon sometime... I have a few things to do this morning. A'den, ur sketch is under way, but temporarily stalled... I need to do some yard work and study for a few hours before I do anything else... and I need to work on my gaunts.

What are you using for gaunts? As I may have mentioned, I'm using shin pads :3
I have some scratch built fiberglass gaunts. Check out my WIP thread for details, and the issues I'm dealing with.
A'den I need to know a few more things about ur kit... What weapons r u using? are there any special add-ons to ur helmet? Also, I saw ur other custom just a few min ago... I'm adding it to my favs list for the BIG sketch!

Okay here's my sketch tutorial (which is also Levi's custom) as promised. it is a 5 step process.
Step 1: draw a wire frame for posing and as a representation of bone structure. remember the rules of proportionality here. from centermass to fingertip is always half the total height. males are always a 50/50 split. %50 above the waist, %50 below the waist. Females are a 40/60 split.
Step 2: draw anatomy- add musculature and body mass where needed and as appropriate. this is the point where u need to make sure that u have everything even and proportional. Also, this is where u add any gender specific anatomic structure.
Step 3: draw add ons- draw on anything extra at this point. Armor, helmets, weapons, kit, any accessories u may want to add at this point and anything in close proximity to the subject.
Step 4: line it out- using a black felt tip pen/marker, trace ur existing pencil sketch, tracing only the essential lines to cover what u need. then, take a big eraser to the whole sketch to make a clean picture. This step can also be accomplished in Photoshop or Gimp.
Step 5: add in any background u may choose, and color ur picture using quality fine tip coloring pens or one of the afforementioned photo editing software systems.
Oh... I forgot a crucial step!
Step 6: Share your art! Don't keep it to urself... that's just rude! Show people ur talent and let others enjoy ur work.
Congrats, u now have a successful mando sketch.

lol no prob... kandosii ner vod! I was channeling the Tatooine theme on this one. U said bounty Hunter, and ur colors just fit it perfectly... All subdued tones, on a tan flight suit and tan webgear, all stuff u can easily (and cheaply) obtain from almost any LE/Mil supply, surplus, or airsoft store. Did the tutorial help?

@Levi: and I quote myself "and many more..." the list is by no means comprehensive, just the ones I remembered at the moment... I'll be adding more shortly. I mostly want to wait to see what mods ppl make before I use concept sketches. I too love seeing dead things laying in the background... makes the mando seem more... vicious. That project is also still on hold unfortunately due to a sudden surge in requests and my work on my own beskar'gam, as well as... I'll be starting my wife's shortly, and ... I have 5 additional to build from there.
@Nevu: Wilco, just need a lil time to do it... work is taking up a lot of my time right now, RW issues to deal with unfortunately. I WILL get it done shortly tho, promise. Okay... Here's short update:
1. Work is starting to slow down, so I'll have a little more time to work on my suit/sketches. Got my new assignment... We'll be moving to Oklahoma by the end of the year. got my new callsign too... I am now named "Waco."
2. I have Nevu's sketch done... I don't like it all that much, didn't turn out how I want it so I may redo it, but for now it's done. Will be starting Mereel's redraw shortly, but first... I have to do a Darth Talon request from one of my vode here in my squadron. Anybody know how to draw a pin up? lol

lol yeah i kinda noticed that... I can do it, but it'll take time... It's all ink, not digital (haven't learned that yet) but with a little time in gimp I can clear out the wrong color and then Print it off, re-ink it and scan it back in. I'd say probably a hour or 2 of work, but it'll be spread out over a few days. I WILL do it tho, so it's a shade of grey? Do you know the name of the color?
umm no, don't know the name of the color. But pretty much any color grey that is darker then the armor's grey.

Also, for those I owe sketches, check your PMs incase I've had additional questions, otherwise I'll have those up by the weekend, unless things get too busy at work like they did today... 12 and 16 hr shifts r a lil hard on the artistic motivations. lol

lol sorry guys, had another 15 hr day today, a PT test this morning and a lot of foul weather. Ran my fitness test in 90 degree heat 90% humidity. It feels almost like drowning. Not to mention it started raining during the pushups situps portion of the test. Working on those sketches now, I'll try to get 'em scanned in tonight.

I love my sketch ner'vod! You made it come to life! I can draw, I draw mine all the time but I dont have enough experience to draw them with a pose. I tried once and it was a fail... But you have talent! You can make people's customs come to life before they even build it!
If you want to redo it thats fine with me. If you do, maybe with some of that pistol action going on? O and sorry but I must point out you have the shoulder bells wrong. They sit directly ontop of the shoulder and stick straight out. Whenever you have time and you want to I might shoot you off a scan of what my drawing looks like and you can make it look more alive, instead of mine looking like armor laying on a pillow? lol

Very, very slow... been kinda busy at work and I've had now 9 requests in 2 wks! lol I'm very happy to be so busy, glad ppl like my work. I am working on it in the meantime, I'm doing lineart of each individual mando, then photoshopping (via gimp) all of the mandos together into a big picture. Right now I've got about 8 or so of 'em in the picture. The hard part is figuring out how everyone will fit together and who I need to pose how. Once I figure that out it's easy to do the sketch. Coloring will be another challenge altogether because I'm going to try to do it digitally, followed up by inks like I normally use.Quote:

BTW... just wanted to let everyone know... I'm still working on sketches, and still taking requests, but if I don't reply back very quickly... just be patient. My computer is gone out of state to get fixed right now (I'm hard on equipment) and I have to use my wife's computer when she's not using it... don't want to take over it since it's hers. Here's my current priorities for taskings:
1. Adonian's Snow Mando
2. Corrections for Mer'ika
3. Updates on Pacx's mando (could get rolled down the list if it's a lot to do, sorry vod)
4. C1RCA's femmemando medic
5. C1RCA's rodian
6. Redesigns for my and Fi's mandos (some new ideas that may get incorporated)
7. The big sketch... which is taking A LOOOONG TIME!!! I have close to twenty mandos right now who r already selected for the sketch, and another thirty or so I am considering... problem is I have to contact each mando (if I can ID them) and request permission first.
BTW, all this is being done before I go to bed each night due to a very busy work schedule right now... it's one of those fun lil saying things... first crew in, last crew out. lol

As for everyone else, just a quick update. I hate leavin' u guys hanging but I have so much going on right now. I have to cram 10 more missions into 5 weeks, and complete my IQT in 5 weeks, so I'll be going on a 3 week TDY after that. When I get back I have to pack up and move to Oklahoma City for my new assignment. So, before I go to my TDY, I have to get everything packed, arrange for the move with TMO, get my family ready and make sure my finance and personnel records get transferred so that I'm not AWOL and unpaid! lol In amongst all that I'm trying to get ready for my TDY and work on my art... so it's slow goin, sorry vode. I am actually on hold right now tho because I'm waiting to hear back from 2 ppl. I had to take my PC to get it worked on because I lost a lot of my data, including my spec sheets for my sketches!

I have a fun filled day of rapid decompression training tomorrow and wednesday so... if I have time I'll be working on the 1 current request I haven't actually started yet. Also... I have a question: I don't want to charge for my work... but I might be willing to accept donations to help offset costs of my work. So... what do you guys think? Also... IF I were to start charging for sketches... what would be a fair price in your opinion?

Donations are a great idea man, but if you were going to charge...... well i wouldnt make it that expensive Hmmmm i really couldnt tell you. Your work is definatly worth a lot but im not sure if you want to charge that much :lol
and i have a question for you. You dont have to say yes cause i know you are VERY busy, but i was wondering if sometime you could try printing out my sketch and coloring it with those fancy markers of yours :D If you dont want to thats ok but just wanted to see if its worth buying those markers :D thanks
Hey kal'ika you think you could do a vod a favor and maybe slip in a redraw on mine? I mean I LOVE it! But I just think that it doesnt really show the full potential of my custom. I think the robe makes the drawing more diffucult because you still have to try and squish in the armor but still get the correct size of it. Ya know? I might also shoot you a pm with a pic of just a few very minor detailed changes I made.
