Interesting peace of green armor you got their vod. The top photo? Eh.....I really don't know what it could be. But that picture of the armor is really interesting.
Thanks! I am trying to make this as close to the source material as possible.
There have been some pretty interesting guesses so far over at Mercs.
Is the top photo the base for a jetpack?
Bottom armor.....I dunno. An overweight Mando?
Yes, it is the backpack (still needs thrusters on the bottom and the paint-up).
As for the armor:
LOL! No, that is actually how it is shaped in the source reference material.
I would of guessed it to be a start-off for a jet pack for your costume vod. But I have been busy all day trying to get posts from other sites down. School starting up and a bunch of realy good stuff. But your armor is really good. Keep the pictures coming. I am sure that everyone loves progress pics here.
Lego Boba?
*Le Gasp* Good guess, TxFett! Should have know one of our southern Mando's would guess something so smart.
OK. Here are all the pics again and two CLUES to help narrow it down a bit. *wink*
Just be aware that it is NOT Lego or any kind of "Kilted Mandalorian".
No darts on these yet:
This is all I have done as of now so it will be a while before I post more pics.
its the guy from the Simpsons dressed as boba fett????
He's the chicken from Family guy![]()
Where would the horse and scottish hat fit into that? And I was actually also thinking Family Guy Chicken Fett for Chicago Comic Con.
Those two clues (hat and the dark horse) should have been a really big help actually but if these don't push it over the edge, nothing will:
![]()
cam kennedy? wasn't he the artist on dark empire comics? i don't remember him doing any mando's other than boba.

An Edgy, live size living Lego Fett?
ohh I think I found it.............
![]()
YAYYYYY!---- Saint_Nasty and Dead Eye got it!
Whew!
You're right, Cam hasn't done any other Mandos yet but I didn't want to narrow it down so much at first.
Mods, you can move this thread to the "Armor" section if you want.
I always liked the way Cam Kennedy illustrated and thought this set would look kind of cool in three dimensions. I looked through all his books
and tried to pick the way he drew each part most often to narrow down my design. I'm having trouble finding a suitable plastic dome for the helmet as it is drawn to be a perfect bowl shape and not oblong like a regular helmet.
So I'm skipping it for now and starting on the gauntlets just as soon as I paint the JP.
Thanks for the comments and I'll post more pics soon.

I love this version of Fett. Love Cam's work too.
Well then, I hope the finished product impresses the SEEKER!
Excellent project! I have a t-shirt of a Cam Kennedy Boba Fett I purchased at Disneyworld 12 years ago! Good luck with this and I hope to spot you at CV!
An excellent idea. I can't wait to see this at CV. I'm actually sorta disappointed in myself. I had just reread D,L,&T the day you posted this lol.
Just an update:
I finally found some suitable thruster parts so I will be working on those this week. I tried looking for some plastic balls that were the right size but eventually settled on some wooden craft balls. The "cones" will be made from metal condiment cups from Wal-Mart.
My current headache is in finding a dome for the helmet.
The Cam Kennedy Fett helmet is perfectly round when looking at it from the top and not the
typical helmet shape. Most bowls that are the right size I have found have a flat bottom and won't work. I thought about those plastic hamster balls
that they run around in but they are either too small or too large. It can be a full plastic ball if that's all that can be found because I can cut it in half.
I need something that is about 9-10 inches across.
Any suggestions?

Cut up a globe? Or some stores carry large balls as garden decorations starting around this time of year you may be able to find one in a suitable material.
I looked into the garden gazing-balls and all that I could find around here are glass or ceramic similar to a Christmas ornament.
I nevereven thought about a small desk globe, though --thanks for the tip.
Thrusters are finished and installed and will be painting up the pack the rest of the week and I'll post some pics when I get it finished. I put fins on the missle, too.
I'm going to start the gauntlets until I get the dome issue figured out.
Well, here you go. My finished Cam Kennedy Fett jetpack:
The comic version pack is usually shown in shadow and with no pics that show it's
"actual" colors so I used variations of the ROTJ scheme.
Had a wee look around and found this link to plastic spheres
http://barnardltd.com/product.jsp?prodId=3874&catId=
Hopefully that might help you find something suitable?
So, no comments or criticism on my pack? I thought for sure there'd be some. ^__^
I've also started to cut out all the parts to assemble the gauntlets. They are going to be nice and clunky!
Fantastic work! Looking forward to the finished product.
UPDATE:
Added the top detail today. Next is the greeblies, side-mounted flame unit, a couple dart launchers, and then paint.
I hate having to use my phone but what are ya gonna do?

The Left Gauntlet is FINITO!
![]()
nicely done...Im gonna be doing some gauntlets up here soon to mimic the ones frome Adriana Melos Fett in Man with a Mission...cant wait to see the left one now...wheres it at?
That actually is the left. The two of shots of me wearing them are in the mirror.
I sense a Comic Fett Revolution on the horizon!
Oh snap yeh mirror...I got the book and saw the cam kennedy stuff thought of your thread here...and the pic in my avatar is the one Im going for...Its pretty SE like. But different gauntlets...I think on the left gaunt for the kennedy stuff he has like a hand guard and another laser looking deal you shuold add to it! Looks cool the way it is but I think it would look even better. Theres a really good shot in Agent of Doom in Man with a Mission
The little round hand plate will be attached to the inside front of the gauntlet and snap to the back of the glove.
Now the RIGHT gauntlet will really be clunky with lots of greeblies and hoses. For some reason it seems to me Cam went crazy with that arm!
Yeh there seems to be an elbow plate and all sorts of gadget looking things on the right
I think it's gonna be a fun build.

I assembled the base shape of my right gauntlet. I didn't fill or sand the seams yet but wanted to share what I have so far.
The elbow plate is based off the image above:
I am cutting out the three top sections tomorrow from 1/2" sintra based off of this shot:
![]()
very interesting...I want to see this done already. To bad it doesnt work that way lol
I definately want this part of the build done already.
I had to alter some proportions due to art vs. human anatomy issues but here's tonight's progress:
And here's some quick under-the-wrist dart dealy-bobs:
![]()
need them circle things on the right side left on screen....looks good so far
In the books he hides them so much
LOL! Give me a sec, sheesh!
LOL i am wheres the pics at already...i keeed i keeeed. Looking good
I am going to add them but it looks like they are on an angled panel in the pic. I'll do a few test trials first but I might have to just put them next to the top box because it might look a bit strange in the real world.
My dome came today!
Next to my ugly head it looks a bit large but next to what is my (supposedly) Mystery Helmet, it looks pretty close and will work:
![]()
Whats it made from?
Man, you are on top of my thread! LOL!
It's an outdoor lamp post cover. It's acrylic so I gotta be careful cutting it.
I have a lot of time on my hands out here...nothing much to do besides study and watch lost and TDH!
You know I would make a cast of that thing and go from there...Im guessing you might be doing that already though
I'm pretty confident of my dremeling skill and I'm sure I won't break the dome.
I might do a cast of the helmet after it's built but before I paint it in case some may want one. I haven't decided, though. MWAHHH HAAHAHAHA!
After looking at this tonight I'm also toying with the idea of putting a 45 degree angle on the top edge that runs down the length of the gauntlet and around the back of the elbow plate. As it is now it just looks kinda strange, almost too thin and flimsy if you get what I mean. A beveled edge might help it to look more "finished" much like it does on the edges of the movie chest armor.
Yes or no?
I can't wait to see this in person at C5! It's a very imaginitive build... good luck!... and keep showing your pics!
Well, I've been made fun of by my friends for wanting a Fett for about 15 years but never getting off my duff to do it. This is the farthest I've ever gotten. LOL!
It's probably just me if it looks fine to you.
I just wondered if I should angle the top edge of the elbow plate to make it look less like just a flat, boring piece.
Here you go Fett 4 Real, your crucial "circle things". ^__-
Also, the finished dart launchers:
![]()
Very NICE I LIKE...they make it look more "complete" Love them man...they're very greeblie....lol
It just became apparent to me that even though the gauntlets don't look exactly correct, Cam seemed to switch which arm each gauntlet went on.
Just an quick observation.
And you know the other gaunts gonna be jealous right
It'll get over it. ^__^
Just a side note: EVERYTHING from this project so far but the rocket, thrusters, and helmet dome is pilfered from scrap at work.
Nice! The guants IMHO make sense the way you got em based on what we know to be true to the movie version of Fett....so I wouldnt have em any other way...I keep looking back at em myself when you post new pics...Excited to see how the Bucket ends up looking...any sketches of what your going for?
And what material is that your using?
I haven't done any sketches myself but I'll just look through the books. That's the same way I've done everything else so far.
For the helmet I'll take the cut dome, wrap and attach a piece of ABS around it and go from there.
Think youll be able to mimic the dome like cheeks? I think thats what will set it more apart and more Cam like
Well, it looks like this part of the cheek will have to atttach DIRECTLY to the mandible without much of the middle cheek portion that's present on the movie helmet. I am going to try using some of the left over dome material to create the super-curved lower cheek. The hard shadow-line effect in the middle cheek will be cheated in the paintwork.
Can you follow clearly what I'm talking about?
Yep...its gonna be cool if you can pull it off I was gonna recommend using the left over from the dome...it looks to be about the same angle there. And he has a serious Dent...almost like its a flat surface inside of the dent like a hole then a slightly smaller area inside there and its flat...How long till you start on the bucket?
That dent always reminded me of the little paper thing around a Reese's peanut butter cup just not as deep.
I have only the cod and backplate left of the armor to make but they are pretty easy looking so I might start on the helmet first.
The "Cam" keyslots at the back of the helmet look kind of like a set of venetian blinds (easy) and both the earcaps will be just flat 1/2
sintra with rounded ends.
I'm gonna paint the gauntlet tomorrow, though.
Now, on to the HELMET...!

You paint fast...Im sending you my rotj gaunts dAng
Here's everything so far:
Still no darts on the knees yet, though.
It's looking great so far. I'm looking forward to seeing this in person.
Ugh, I also just realized I have the pistol to do yet!
![]()
Oh no bucket first lol
This is looking great man!
Gonna need to make you a ammo belt too
Hey Brian, thanks for the support!
In most of the books the belt looks to me like just a plain brown leather belt with the two
triangular pouches and a buckle like an Imperial officers.
HELMET TEST
I think I need to cut the dome up a bit highter because as it is this way, the mandables and cheeks are too squat:
![]()
maybe an inch or so
Yeah that's what I was thinking. I cut the eye portion of the "T" a bit thick so that would help a bit more, also.
These aren't sanded or painted yet but the launchers have been found:
I had a hard time finding something suitable to use but eventually I decided...
...it was NERF or nothing. (bah dum CHEE!)
those look pretty good and your painting skillz will probably make em look really good
Sanded the logo off and I speckled some dark gray primer on them to break up the shiny aluminum.
I couldn't take it any longer! I just had to finally put some of my stuff on!
The armor pulled the temporary shirt forward and they slid a bit (this was quickly thrown
on with duct tape for heaven sake!) but I just wanted an idea of my progress. Go easy:
![]()
Here's the VERY basic start of the helmet. The screws will be removed once the epoxy sets and then I'll fill the holes back in. It's also way long at the moment. I
am so nervous about this helmet build because there's so much to try to get perfect for the look to be just right.
![]()
It already is apparent to me that it won't be possible to get it quite as "squat" as it is in the books because of the way a human head is shaped. I'm hoping to keep the taper from the back of the neck to the front chin area to as much of a minimum as possible, though.
Stupid anatomy.
Last edited by Muad'Dib; 04-16-2010 at 07:19 PM.
The epoxy held but I didn't think about it sealing in the screws too! D'oh!
Now I have to grind them off a little at a time to avoid them heating up enough to melt the plastic around them.
Let's see, 12 screw... should only take about two hours. Grr.
lmao... more pics?
You want pics of me removing screws? Methinks you are a bit too excited over this project. lol
I'll post some, though once I get the dome gap and bolt holes sanded.
Screws removed and filled:
The filled seem between the dome and the face:
Next is measuring the height and making the cut!
I had to walk away from that thing for a few and collect my head.
You have got to be a geometry major to figure these proportions out!
I may shorten it a bit more. What do you think?
![]()
Not a bad start i dont think yuo need to shorten it
Well, I might try just to eliminate a little more of the taper from back to front. In the book it's pretty much straight across but that would be impossible because of the human chin. I want to cheat it as close as possible.
I am sooo pumped about this costume... I at one point wanted to attempt this very concept but I don't think i could do it with my skills.
Eagerly awaiting the final product!
Lookin' good. Where did you get that sphere?
I just looked at this thread and I must say what an awesome idea. great work.
My girlfriend ordered it for me so I'll ask her when I get off work.
