Izim,
Looking good so far.
Try finding a belt that does not look so earth bound, it`ll increase the effect of the outfit.
Do you plan on getting knee armor and boot armor covers (Jango style) for your outfit?
Keep the progress pics coming.
howabout some weathering or some black washes on the armor.
Nevermind.

I think your "butt armor" needs to be flipped horizontally.
Also:
Get a different belt
Hide the laces on your boots (lases, whatever)
Trim the armor so it fits you, layer some damage on it, acrylic wash it, and find a different way of attaching it, (as said earlier) it seems to be sliding off.
Those are just suggestions.
Just my quick input as far as the chest armor. Just my opinion for a more squared away look, Ive mentioned this before, but the top outer corners of the chest pieces should be almost lined up with the bottom outer corners of the collar armor. Notice in the pic, I circled what I mean. Looks great though.

to JK, yea, its the only belt i have right now, i plan on having a few, girth, small and a han solo quick draw
to jango5204, i think i may do a wash, make it look grimy n oily
to gcn gamer, its attached directly to the flight suit by velcro it is a bit too large for me but the reason it looks so huge is cause it isnt attached as close as it can be
to tuba chris, thanks for the tip, i didnt line it up in the mirror like i should have but ill keep that in mind,
to the clayster, thanks for repeating what other people say
thanks for all the help
every question that was asked has been answered, and i thank the people who have been kind enough to lend me some know how, it wouldn't have gotten this far with out all your info, except clayster, clayster sucks
don't really care, just as long as everyone knows, you suck
Quit bickering guys, it doesn't achieve anything.
Some good progress there Izim and some sound advice to improve it. Are you planning on adding a cod-peice? Not to mention knees ect.
Looking good so far Bud, just a couple of adjustments like everyone said above and you'll be on your way. No first test fitting ever looks perfect, that's what they are there for. Have you sewn the velcro into the flight suit, or is it just stickied on? If you do a search on these boards there is a couple of really good pics of the vest (in your case the flightsuit) without the armour on showing where to place the velcro to ensure a nice even fit of all the torso pieces, PM me if you don;t find it and i'll email you the pics i have.
Like Orthar said, do you plan on any leg armour at all, or leaving it as is roughly? What overall theme are you looking to achieve when it's all done?
Correct me if i'm wrong but the current theme is maybe a scout of some sort, or a combat medic judging by that satchel bag your carrying?
Keep up the good work, let us know of your progress![]()
I believe he is doing a a mando scout type. I showed him a pic on the mercs site form onesixthwarriors.com and he loved the ventilator sans helmet the light mando scout had. Probably one of the best non-helmet looks I've ever seen and definitely worth using.
I love how the dark green sleeves go into those gloves! Do you plan to weather it any further, because you did a great job with the blaster marks, I wouldn't mind seeing some more of those. I like the big pouches too. You did a great job on it!:
Izim and The Clayster cut it out.
Izim, The Clayster is just trying to help.
Both of you read this for the CoC

to vaders_pet, like i said, it was attached a bit loose, i didnt line it up in the mirror like i should, it is a bit big but i cant trim now because comicon is so close
to othar, i do need a cod but since i cant really order anything right now, ( wont ship in time) i was going to get some sintra yesterday but ran out of time, as knee armor goes i may get some kneepads but heavy ones, like tactical kneepads, add some stuff like knives to them,
to jodo, thanks, i think it makes up for elbow pads, which i was originally going to do, i also wanted to weather the collar, since its too clean, and the bells, since they're unmarked, and like jango 5204 suggested a paint or ink wash for the dirty effect
to asok, no problem
Gentlemen,
Cease the hostilities. The COC is there for a reason. Otherwise this thread will be locked down.

Come on guys

I don't think the pot needs to be stirred anymore. Have you not seen the admin and mods replies in this thread?
One more post from either side of the argument that stirs this pot anymore and the thread will be locked. Don't make me hand out warnings.
Little thing called respect... everyone try it.
Thank you.
wel, small update i got a makeshift cod, i cant connect it to the first belt so i made a second "belt" sotra thing for it, when its built up n such ill post a pic

If you have any pouches (which I see that you do, but if you have some smaller ones) You can cover up the Cod belt, with the ammo belt.
It would look a bit more streamlined, and less crowded, but it is all up to you.
Will you have a helmet? Or just go helmet-less, or something different all together?
just some suggestions/ questions.
I like the green you are using Izim, your armour looks great, have you got any pics of your armour that have been resized to fit better. Also would like to see some updates on your weapons if you have any...
All the same good work so..........![]()
I think it looks pretty sweet. Your gloves and larger pouches look awesome. AND I think that the blaster scarring is really good looking. I think you should just weather it up and get knee/cod armor.
Kudos for making a custom mando, I don't think I could. lol.
thanks valcar, i have two pistols, one of them chips slightly easy though (and i cant find it right now), and an unpainted rifle. and i've made a cod and i have to sand and paint it. i will not have a helmet ready for comicon , so im going helmetless and will instead will be wearing a rebreather, hopefully painted like below, and i wont have an ammo belt, ill replace it with a girth and a double holsters, for the two pistols.
I like that blaster alot. How did you get that blown-off effect in the back?
You weren't at Comic-Con were you?
yea, anyways, my armor is trimmed, as many of you suggested. still needs to be repainted, the problem is it renders my old flightsuit and velcro useless
Last edited by Izim; 07-30-2007 at 04:57 PM. Reason: for stupidity
i wouldnt directly attach it to a flight suit, attach it to a vest of some sort, its a lot easier and you can keep it on the vest always
Yes, definitely use the vest. It makes things alot easier and looks pretty cool in the process![]()
sheesh Clayster....anyways,
That blaster is beyond cool. The blasted-off look is just ingenious. Your armor is looking better and better. Keep up the good work!
Hey Izim, just a suggestion, but I think you should consider some carbon dusting on that chestplate. It would make it look sooo much better.
carbon dusting you say? i dunno what that entails
so it looks like theres black powder on there...if youre good with spray paint, you can do it the easy way
if not, then grind up some black chalk and brush it onto some areas on your armor, then use some sealer to keep it on there
There is a tutorial on carbon dusting posted on the Mandalorian Mercs site.

Pretty easy with a 1 inch brush, sand paper, and a piece of black artists chalk =D
Yes you can do it with paint to, but if you haven't done it with spray paint before then you need to practice before you try. The chalk method is pretty fool proof until you put your varnish or sealant over it.
Just use charcoal, crush it, and brush it on.
