Custom Mandalorian All metal Mando

To celebrate yesterday, I decided to try on my Beskar, or at least all the parts I have so far. You can see pretty clearly what's left, for example the gauntlets, neck seal, helmet, and a few other smaller things. I'm pretty satisfied so far, but is there anything that you guys can spot right away that isn't good? The armor plates are a bit off but they are only temporarely fitted in the pic so nevermind that!

Sorry for the potato quality pic...

Tip:
Get rid of the sides of the codpiece. Sure, Boba has them BUT he also have a butplate connected to that. In Praxis, the sides will not be seen because you are supposed to wear your Ammobelt at that level that covers this area.
That way you can pull up your tights a bit and ad more flexibility to your hip.

@Testfit: The end of the ab-plate should be a little bit over your belly-button. That way the plate wont lock into your stomach when you try to bend down. you'll properbly thing: "hey, wont that cover my whole stomach and leave a giant gap between abplate and Codpiece" - Thats why the Belt is very broad :D Jangos Belt was about 15 or 20cm broad - the Deathwach in Clonewars even put little plates on their belt to cover that :D

@Cape/Backplate: I know there are alot 'elitists' who claim that you dont need a Backplate if your cover your back with a cape - but seriously thats alot of Bull****. Especialy with Metalplates you need a counterweight on your Back to balance the Frontplates. Otherwise they will hang lower and lower the longer you'd carry it.
Also a naked back looks unproffesional when the cape hangs dramatical in the wind ^^
Ok you gonna add a Jetpack but mounting it on a Backplate will increase the quality level significantly :D

also you should still make the neck opening on your neckplate wider, how can you breath with that thing? :D

WOW! My favorite part of TDH! That is a really dope costume bro! Keep it up man and don't ever be afraid to get creative with it and do it up huge! Wish I had a pic of my old mando costume to PM you so as to not take over your thread but yeah! Keep it up man!

Jaro Krieg:

I'm thinking about keeping the sides to fasten the piece properly, but I'll see about it!

Yeah the pieces are a bit low, and I don't have the back piece on so, as you say will be a problem, the whole vest is a bit tilted forward, and the COD piece is a bit too high so it does looks a bit weird.

Forgot to add that the cape is just temporary, as I'll have the back plate and the jetpack when they are complete, but until then, I'll use the cape! I'll perhaps make a temporary backplate out of sheet plastic and add some weight to it to balance the vest for now, but the final one will be in metal.

The neckpiece is actually wearable, but don't worry, it'll be modified, I've just forgot to bring it to the workshop in school :facepalm

987654321a: Thank you very much! :D Have you got a build thread anywhere? Would love to see it!

Today I've been able to finally modify the neckplate! I've opened up the neckopening with about one cm per side, altered the lower edge to suit the chest pieces better, and I've added a more visible bend in the middle of the plate!

And I've also bought myself a small Jango Fett figure that I'm in the process of turning into my Mando! So far I've only painted the vest black, I'll go over it with some satin finish to make it less glossy, and I'll paint and add some other stuff for it :)

So yeah, to make it in time for the biggest con in Scandinavia, Närcon Sommar, in July, I've decided to not buy a helmet kit, it's also due to my limited budget. Instead, I'll continue working on the helmet I started building in November 2014. It had wrong measurements and scale, and the proportions were off a bit.
It looked smomething like this..

So, I sectioned the helmet along the length and the width, and cut out two cm in each direction, plus the width was further narrowed about 1 cm when I put it back together along the width.

First, I cut along the length of it and cut off two cm..

And put it back together...
Then I cut it along the width and stuffed it back together two cm shorter than before...

And after I put it back together...

All I can say is, it's almost perfect now, all I have to change is the T-visor obviously, no need to explain what to change there I think.. :D

What do you think? :)

Looking good so far. Does the metal armour weigh much?
have you looked at the Wizard of Flight (WoF) templates there is a great helmet one there that a lot of people have used to great success.

Thanks! I think it weighs somewhere around three or four kg in total.
I'll look into that!

Yesterday, I got the idea of making a crushgaunt, which I'll wear on my left hand and underarm.

So I started testing some pieces and ideas of hwo to make the armour parts...

And when I was satisfied with how it turned out, I started making the soft parts, I found a glove that fitted and looked good enough, and I made the underpiece, which wraps around my arm and is secured with velcro.

After that, I transferred and modified the cardboard pieces I tested with onto styrene plastic.

Here the thumb...

And the back of the hand. These plates were made a bit different from the tests, I think they fit better, but the test pieces looked a bit cooler in my opinion.

That's as far as I've made it today. I've worked over eight hours with the gaunt these past two days, the test and some stuff that needed remaking included. So in total, my Mando has taken somewhere around 56 hours as of today, with at least as much more left!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope my work will inspire atleast someone :)

if you make the plates to short and/or use a thicker material it will stuck from time to time - I had mine problems with that designed and switched to a more spacy desing

based a little bit on the iron-man gloves ^^

Yeah I noticed the problem with the plates getting stuck, but that's solved already :) I'll make the rest of the finger pieces today and then I'll start weathering it. I think I'll go for a very dark look, but not so that it looks as if it once was painted black. the base will be silver and then just a lot of dark weathering, similar to a lighter I weathered a while ago:

CAM00933_zps4dr5dbr1.jpg

This is because I want it to be visible, but I don't want to drag too much attention to it, but mostyl because I want to test my weathering skills on something bigger...

this is pretty impressive. any more done to it, or no?
Thanks. Not much done to it lately, I'm not satisfied at all with anything done to be honest, so I kind of wanna puke on the project right now.. I've started a smaller build in the form of a light armour in the same style as Sabine from Star Wars Rebels, just to have a Mando, but this one is packed away in deep storage.
