Advice for alternate leg armor

Xorren

New Hunter
Hello again. I need a little advice. I'm wanting to do a lil something different with my leg armor for my custom. Instead of seperate knee and shin armor I was thinking of trying out some greaves (leg armor ala Vader and Stormtroopers) I'm pretty certain I know how I'm going to get the dart launchers in there, but I'm wanting to know if there are any certain "mando centric"details that I could incorperate in them? If anyone has any ideas you think I'd like, or you think is cool for them, go ahead and post them or shoot me a PM.
Thanks

Howdy neighbor. I've often wondered what I'm going to do for my leg armor-probably steel Jango style plates made by Wickedbeard. But maybe you'll come up with something quite different. I'd suggest checking out the 2 Dark Horse "Knights of the Old Republic" comics that show a multitude of Mandalorians from long in the Star Wars past. You'll see how varied their armor is-which hopefully more of us will go in that direction...I've seen a few folks using Motocross riders leg armor which is knee length.

I think the issue number on that comic was #7. If you can't find it, I can send you some pics from it that I've found online.

I made some one piece shin/knee armor for my custom. Not the best, but here it is. I'm the one with the blue armor and grey jumpsuit.

I see, thanks for the # on that. In other news, I'm glad to see another Hedberg fan, it's a shame he's not with us anymore.

Yeah issues #7 and #8 both have a good deal of illustrations not to mention that you learn a little about Mando culture and how they deal with Mandalorian deserters. I'd go on but I don't want to spoil it for you...I particularly like the Mandalorians use of spikes on their armor anywhere and everywhere in some cases. I'm going to do the same, but with far less spikes and only in key places like my boot armor and hopefully elbows if I can find a way to rig some storm/clonetroopers elbows to work with my kit...Anyone have a spare set of elbow armor they'd like to sell? :D

Happy Holidays!

I sure wish I had a scanner. I'd have gone ahead and scanned all the Mandalorian related illustrations and show them to you right away rather than having to track down your issues first...Can anyone else scan them and post the ones that show the Mando folk?

These are the best pics I could find online. These were originally posted by Jodo_Kast.

whoa,
that is definately some bad-ass mando group going there, i dont think ive ever seen such diverse and different to the "norm" in one place at one time. awsome pics guys

How about this pic. I believe it was in Star Wars Insider at some point...I'm going to have my leg armor made very much like this FemMandos-or rather the foot plates will be. I may have some more of those spikes on my shins as well, similar to the Mandalorian from KOTOR...I'm not certain how I'll be able to attach my foot plates without having to gle them to my boots as the boots I'm gonna use are the leather Mountaineering boots I wear almost daily. Any suggestions on how to do that? I thought maybe cut somethin that overlaps both sides of my boot where I can put in a couple of grommets on each side so I can use parachute cord to tie the heavy cloth piece on the boot securely. Then I can use the industrial velcro to hold the plates on, or I could hot glue the heck out of them, securing them in place-unless you live in a desert...Does that sound feasible?
