Put more bondo on the right side and did a little sanding, gonna go to Human resourses at the new job and start papers today, and go to a different place that wants me too, so I can have two jobs (I decided not to take the other 2 jobs, dont like home health nurse..ewww)

I'm still waiting to get back to work (job) then I will do more on the bucket and finaly start the soft parts... I found the same fabric that Cod'ika used for his flak vest, in WHITE and Black so I can make BOTH, and I can order some BDU pants for 'em and be done with 2 customes.
I was thinking of using some glow in the dark powder in clear and put it on the white armor.

Anyway update on the Mando front... I just ordered 2 flak vests from ladeysewforus' husband Mark, DarthCarcinus. He has a budget vest which looks great, so when I get 'em I'll be armored YEAH!!
So, now I have 1 white girth belt, 1/2 a white bucket, white chest armor, (Soon) a white vest, now I just gotta finish the bucket, get a cape or something to cover the back, make the leg and arm armor and be done.
wow that's still a lot of work, BUT I GOT VEST'S YEAH BOY!
I guess you can tell I'm happy :)

Small update, I've decided against the nose guard, I will add the flair/sweep around the bottom soon enough, but I am taking my time with this one since I didn't get my black/purple one as smooth as I need this one to be.

I think the wider visor will be nice. I got one of those flexable 11x14 picture frames from walmart, I hope to mirror tint it.

well, I just got my vests (White and Black) from Ladysewforus' Husband, and the quality is kick butt.
But I'm out the door right now for work, so I don't have time to post, but I will do my best to post tomorrow.
Okay here's the vests, I just laid the armor on top, haven't attached them yet. I may need to make larger armor pieces though :( I'll find out when I get the time to duct tape them on for a fitting ;LOL

No crazieness, thank Mandalore. The worst guy was sent to a different facility, so no fights lately.
I did send 1 guy out to a new facility on Monday, and he came back Tuesday on a 5150 for a 72hr hold, aparently he was talking to his mom on the phone at the new place and got mad and threw the phone into the TV.
I'm working again tonight, and off tomorrow, so I will let you guys know if there's any craziness tonight, and will do a little work on my bucket tomorrow.

I made lightsabers for myself, friends, and siblings for Xmas and now am looking at making some armor but as I'm I'm almost totally new to costuming I'm going to need a lot of help and details.
I think I understand the basics of how to do just about everything from making the armor and painting it and detailing with props (gun, saber, helmet clip, gloves etc.) so basically I'm looking for two things: armor templates and details on helmets.
I'm actually really confused as to the helmets. Can you buy them? I think I remember reading about someone buying a clone helmet and customizing it for a clone armor set but what about for Mando? You're making yours, but where did you get the template? And what were you using to make it? A metal trash can, cardboard, and clay? Bondo?

There are several people here who supply helmets they make themselves out of different materials. Lots of people do scratch builds, like our good buddy adonian here.
Have you tried searching templates yet? There are plenty of those. Especially look at the stickies on the helmet forum in Boba Helmet. I'm pretty sure there's temps there.

I use trash cans as you can see, I just got my 2 vests, I have a whit girth belt (a horse girth belt), and I am still working on my white bucket.

Back to the armor...
I use the above listed templates, print them on regular paper, then use a glue stick and put that paper on priority mail envelopes since they are FREE BABY!!, then I just cut fold and tape.
After I get it all taped together, this time I did a resin coating on the inside and outside, then put fiberglass around the weaker areas, like the inner rim around the dome and face, then the t-visor and cheek bones, and I put fiberglass on the outside over the t-visor so when I cut it it SHOULDN'T warp like my first bucket.
I hope to have this white bucket a little more underway soon. I kind of have a plan to make the wide flare, I am gonna try it tomorrow, I hope to post progress tomorrow night.

If you just need 1 for reference, you could go with a rubies 2 piece, at least they don't warp like the rubies deluxe, but I did mine w/o a reference bucket.

The 2 piece are hard plastic, the delux is like a rubber kind of substance so they warp pretty bad.
rubies warp REALLY bad...go with a good quality bucket (Fett Pride, Boba Maker, &c.) or (by far the best option) build your own. Not so hard, and is WAY more fun than just buying one.

My white helmet is on hold until I feel creative, but having this new trophy, which Saz has named 'The Fallen', I will need to finish mine soon.

I'm still alive, anyway minor update.... I finally got attacked by a patient... it was a she. And she had some claws on her :lol she scratched my arm pretty good, blood everywhere.
Anyway, my digital camera literally melted :? so no pics, as for the bucket, I did get a little more done, and I think I may have found how to make the curving flare, I am off tomorrow so I will get more work done.
I will get a new Digicam next payday so I can post pics.

kids are great, scratches are now turning into scars, I checked the patients chart, she was clean (just crazy).

The lower part (the bottom of the T) is almost worthless unless you are walking around a bunch of small kids (then it somewhat useful) It must have something in it (sensors sound nice!!! along with 360 wrap around...:lol) And leaving a bit at the bottom would probally help a little, depending on how much you left. As far as stregnth of a helmet, i have seen a few that you can stand on. so you can make em pretty tough, depending on what material you use and how well it is made. :D

If you want structural rigidity, you could leave an 1/8" along the bottom of the visor that connects the mandables, but be sure it's fiberglass, not bondo or it'll crack off.
or metal... a strip of 3mm would really help quite a bit i would assume!

It was at 10:40, we were finishing up our charting, and he was frustrated that he slept through the last smoke break, and snacks, we cant break the rules, because the structure is what keeps things in order, he escilated, ran to the glass and punched, he actually broke the chicken wire inside the glass.
The good thing is he was really sorry he did it so we didn't have to take him down, I was just worried that he may have broken his hand, forget all the bleeding, I had to send him to our main hospital ER, I wont know if he broke it until I go back to work on Monday. I hope he didn't break it, he's a nice guy.

okay, i decided to put some fabric like a kama around the back of the bucket. I ordered some white pleather. When it gets here, I will definatley get to it.
That's a pretty impressive punch even for a mentally challenged person. My understanding is that the average halfway-in-shape person literally has the strength to move so fast and hit so hard that they would destroy themselves if there wasn't a built in, subconscious "check valve" that keeps us from doing that. During times of duress the adrenal gland kicks in and the check valve is dialed back a bit allow us do things that are truly amazing. I think the reason that mentally handicapped/damaged people can hit so hard is that often the "check valve is faulty and/or they mistakenly think they are in duress.
