TDH at ComicCon 2008-***Volunteers needed!!

Good news - The Dented Helmet will be at ComicCon 2008!

Here are a couple of things that we will be doing...

TDH will be sponsoring a $100 award for the Masquerade contest that is held on Saturday night. We will be adding a small extra something to the award winner, but have not decided what that will be just yet. There are about 7,000 to 8,000 people who attend the masquerade competition and it is limited to approximately 50 entries. My son was in it last year and won an award for his Boba Fett - it is a fun event to do.

By sponsoring the award TDH will be in the SDCC book and on their website. We have not finalized what the exact category will be, but are thinking of "Best Armored Character" or something along those lines.

We are also working to get a table at the show. It's looking good so far, and we'll let you know more when it is finalized.

We'll have more news about TDH events at SDCC as we get closer to the show.

I'll be there to support the TDH and help out in any way possible.

Glad to see this is being planned far in advance. I currently plan on being there. But again, I don't think it will be for all 4 days. But I do plan on helping out.

I'm at SDCC every year and I will fully support everything TDH has to do there (unless it's just wacko). Be sure to get in contact with me for any help you guys need!!

Going to be a blast. Need to get my hotel MUCH earlier this year. Like now!!!

Couple of hints: Try to get close and get a hotel early. Last year there were 125,000 people there. Parking was not good needless to say. Plan your events too. If you plan on seeing any "premier events" better dedicate most of your day to it. Some lines were like 4 or 5 hours long.

I live in San Diego and have already purchased my four day badge for 2008. I am about a mile and a half from the Convention center. if you need any help at all, please feel free to contact me anytime.

When do the con hotels open up?

i will be there i hope for all 4 days soo i will need a hotell lol and if there any way i can help the tdh i will

U know what, that is really awesome. u know why? That is where i was planning on unvailing my finished Fett Costume. I can't wait, and now i'll get to show it off to the TDH group who'll be there!!!

We may be able to get some members of the Sun Raider clan of Mandalorian Mercs to come help out for a day. I'll see what we can do =)

Can't believe I didn't post earlier. I'll be there for all 4 days. Bubba, PM me, maybe our families can get a room together or something. Our kids would have a great time hanging out.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it untill at least 2009. Ugh!!

I will have a new little mando in the familey it turns out so I wont be able to go for all four days but one or two will be a possiblity...

I plan on being there this year, but it will be my first year. I started checking out hotels on the Internet and it seems a lot of them are already booked. Are they just blocked for the con or are they really booked. I was thinking about booking it now to make sure I had a room but if you really can't book them until 4 months before that idea is out. Does anyone that has gone before have more info about how early you can book hotels for this con.

Just got news, we are currently on the waiting list for a fan club table. I was told we had our application in early enough that we probably won't be on one but turns out we are. I will let you know if and when we are official for this event.

Oh man... that's about the same time that I'm getting out of the Marine Corps, and moving back to New York. Bummer!

The hotels start to open up around February. So they are just blocked.


Sorry, but I am surprised no one noticed this...it is actually "Comic-Con" rather than ComicCon.

Nope, I do not. All they said was "in the New Year".

Ill be there all 4 days, it is like 20 minutes away from where I live.

I'll be there...but no costume. It was tough enough to get my wife to make the trip to San Diego. I didnt want to push my luck and bring the SE Fett.

I may be there. I'm still trying to convince my friends to roadtrip to something called ComicCon (they think it'll just be comics...). Anyway, I'll be at wondercon, and will know closer to SDCC if I'm going.

I plan on leeching off of some lucky person (my CO) who always get a hotel right across the street

The last two years I've been stuck several miles away.

We were stuck about 10 miles away last year. The one we have now though is connected to the center. I'm really excited about how easy it's going to make the trip.

Ok gang. It's official. We DO have a fan table at Comic Con. I will be posting more about it in the Sarlacc Pit and will be asking for volunteers once I get more information about it. Also, if anyone has room, Brak's and I desperately need a place to stay. I've been trying since Jan with no luck.

The only place close that maybe still available Mirax is either Old Town or Mission Bay hotels. they are about 3-5 miles away from the convention center but at least they are somewhat close. you can even jump on the trolley in Old Town suited up and it drops you off right outside of the convention center.

I think we have a place thanks to GCNgamer.

Yeah, I've found that every other year, or every three years keeps it interesting. Otherwise you just get too overwhelmed by the amount of people that seems to grow every time you go.

It was great working with you guys! It was funny though that we come to volunteer and there was a mob of guys/gals with red shirts on hanging around the table. You didn't really need us! We stuck around anyway and talked..it was fun! It was nice meeting you guys. I would have spoken sooner but my account was blocked until today.
