Greetings, members of The Dented Helmet!
I have been lurking around the forums for nearly two months now, and I decided it was high time that I join your honorable ranks. I really enjoy the discussions and projects I've seen on this board! The costumes crafted by you all are truly of an impressive caliber, and the support I've witnessed here from member to member is wonderful.
I found this board after doing some research on creating my own Boba Fett costume. Back in June, a friend proposed to me and a number of others the idea of a Star Wars Hallowe'en. Having loved the series since I was a wee boy, I agreed instantly, despite not knowing what character to costume as. I don't look like anyone from the films, so I started thinking about masked characters.
Boba Fett, the mysterious bounty hunter we (obviously) all love, instantly came to mind. But the costume seemed impossibly intricate, and its difficulty beyond my skill or means. I did some looking about anyway, and was directed to this site through a very helpful Instructable article by Honus, who I believe is a member here as well. With all the resources found on these forums, a costume which once seemed far too unfeasible now seems manageable.
Being out of my country for the past two months, I have not begun work on my Boba. But as I return in about two days' time, soon I will finally get to start! I aim for my Boba to primarily serve as a Hallowe'en getup, so I do not forsee it matching the quality of many of the elaborate ensembles I have seen here. However, having costumed before, accuracy does have an important place in my work. I plan to get as close as I can within the budget of a working college student to begin with, and continue to upgrade my costume as time goes by.
I suppose there really isn't much of a point to this thread, but I felt that I should introduce myself and say hello to all of you here. So, hello! I hope my ramblings were not too dry. I greatly look forward to interacting with you all!
