ICONIC Run Manager

Stormrider

Well-Known Hunter
I have hinted for a few months about my use of a new tool I am writing for managing my runs as well as allowing others to use it. Consider this as a alpha tease for the project.

I am a full time software developer, part time professional volleyball player, and even parter timer(Is that really the words I am going with?) prop maker. I was an art major, CS minor in college so the merging of media and software seemed a great fit. Later in life (a few years ago) I decided to do more tangible art, IE: I started making props. I have learned a lot about prop making and I have been involved with enough projects to be able to see a necessity for many, many tools. I came up with this idea a couple of years ago, but really got working on it in the last couple of months. As of now, I would say I have 70% of the planned functionality working.

This tool will be an image generating tool that shares all of my pertinent run information on the site it is intended for. The bonus is that instead of editing the original post, the image that is generated by paypal, signing up, processing, shipping etc, is displayed in the thread.

In order to keep the sense of community, bumping the thread is and will be a manual task. Answring questions and providing support is and will be based on the forum/community housing the image. The community the forum provides is the key to success in this endeavor so that was the main principle that set the scope of the functionality.

The images are generated on a per-project basis. They are assigned to a Website, a url, a forum post, and finally the user selling it.

I have been writing this for the last few months while I tie up some of my lingering projects. Today I will be posting only the image that gets generated via my test run. I will not be posting the sign up url (A small form that loads in a popup window that is preconfigured to add you to this, and only this list, and keep the TDH your primary window).

I am hoping to have the site fully integrated with paypal and ready to go in the next couple of months. From now until then I will be using it myself, and having people purchasing items from me, begin to use it.

What it does not do:
It is NOT a forum or information exchange.
It is NOT a shopping cart.
It is NOT an ecommerce engine.

What it does do:
It gives sellers a way to update all of their lists from one location.
It allows users to get feedback in real time.
It allows for displaying exactly WHO is selling WHAT, for HOW MUCH and WHEN.
It allows sellers to build a reputation as feedback on the seller and item is incorporated into the model.

Here is a test generated runlist. I am NOT including the sign up link at this time. I have a few bugs to fix before I let people find more bugs!

Feedback is welcome. Beta testers are welcome.

Thanks,
Stormrider AKA Mike Mason (m2)

Im tying in paypal right now.

The question has arisen how do I stop people from just randomly signing up and putting in trash. (bad words, fake orders etc).

One way is to accept only valid emails. Only 1 valid email for every order. Only 1 entry per IP per hour. Force a paypal down payment of at least 1$ to get on the list.

What do you guys think?
