Velcro to Leather?

I just finished up a custom ammo belt using a 2 in wide leather belt from Tandy, and now I need a way to close it in back. I have extra sticky-back industrial velcro, but it doesn't seem like it would have near enough stick to it to hold the belt on. Is there a really nice glue out there that has some flex to it that will hold velcro on to leather nice and tight?

Honestly, I just stapled mine on. Might not be very clean, but I can't sew onto leather. Worked well and hasn't come loose in over a good year of owning the belt.

Goop on the sticky side.Let it dry clamped overnight, and it is on there for good.lol
Goop is all I use.Heat will not affect it either.

I agree with Wickedbeard, Goop for everything! Stuff was put here by God himself! =D I used goop to put my jango style girth together, cheaper then leather weld and works just as good or better.

To be honest, I know it will sound funny but it will all depend on the leather. Alot of leather will stick but even with goop or any other glue it may not stick. I know I've tried alot. Sometimes when the leather is tanned, depending on where it came from and how it was tanned, you sometimes get leather that won't be good with any glues. I even had some where super glue would not stick. It just slid never drying. If it doesn't work you could go GNC's way and staple or go back to tandys and buy some wax thread and a 4 prong diamond punch and punch a few holes through both the velcro and leather and then hand stitch it.

i do my hand stitching of leather with one of those stitching awls from tandy.

they sell a little tool that helps space out the stitches. it's a handle with a spiky wheel on it. i run that along where i'm going to sew to mark even lines, then use my drill press with a 1/16" bit to punch the holes.

the needle is a bit bigger than 1/16, so it's tight to push it through, but it works well.

a hand drill could be substituted for a drill press of course :)

or the little punchy things that mr. taco mentions. i tend to not like them because the holes are bigger than i like, but that's just a personal preference

Just do not sew velcro that has a sticky stuff on one side. I tried that and it turned into a big mess.

Awesome, thanks guys. :cheers

I just bought some Goop and will be trying it out later today. If it doesn't work, I'll probably use the staple method, and just cover the staples with something more eye-pleasing. I'm assuming an industrial stapler? I don't think Milton's Swingline stapler will do the job properly.
