TUTORIAL: You asked for it; slave1pilot paints ANOTHER set of ROTJ Gauntlets

What do you guys think?
anything you would change?
paint differently?
add?
remove?
Leave them like they are?
LMK so i can make the next set better

I have a set of MOW ROTJ gauntlets that I need to paint up so this thread will help me quite a bit. I have been considering getting some of the actual switches to install, so I've been working up the nerve to cut into these things. Have you installed any of the switches on the gauntlets you've done, and if so, any pointers? Also, what are your thoughts on using a machined aluminum missile on the gauntlets? I was impressed by the quality of the resin missile that came with them, so I'm rethinking installing the aluminum one I bought...

I have not installed switches myself on the MOW gauntlets.
I have them in my own fabricated flamethrower and have installed them in the Ruffkintoy gauntlets as well.
I drilled holes & installed them from the backside since those flamethrowers were not assembled yet
The MOW's are already put together, so ...

here's how I think I would do it;
Dremel off the old switches.
Drill holes for the new ones just big enough to push the button into
(Instead of cutting into the body)
install them with CA (Superglue)
the nuts should cover the holes that were drilled, but I could be wrong

I prefer resin (or rubber) gauntlet missiles over aluminum
While the aluminum ones look fantastic, I can't justify the cost myself.
since you have already purchased one, I gues that you are ok with the cost
I would paint both & try them out while trooping

I think that you should weather a bit more the silver part of the missile.

You did a really nice work on it ;)

can you elaborate a little?
the scratches , or the keypad & missile?

the customer likes how they are, but I'm always open to making them more accurate

Here they are outside with no flash in better lighting

the sun washes them out a little
The weathering looks different inside without flash
here's one on the kitchen counter in normal lighting without flash
