Terminator Armour

Templar

New Hunter
I want to make the Chest piece that is worn by the Space Marine Terminators but it is a lot bigger than human chests so how can I get the expansion, I was thinking expandable foam, coat it in resin after i have sculpted it and then use foamex to mold the outside shell. Is there any other ways I could do it that are easier?
Cheers

I'm not sure! Sorry to be such a killjoy. I did one of these about a decade ago and went about it in the tried and trusted manner of a clay sculpt over a manaquin torso, threw some silicone on it and wrapped it in a two part fibreglass jacket then sloshed in the resin. I know it took a shed load of clay and wieghed a ton. Your way sounds a lighter way to do it and no doubt eaisier despite the fact I'm unfamiliar with the materials you are gonna use. At the end of the day go with what you know. If this is something you've done before then keep going. If it aint broke don't fix it.
Sorry for not being of more help but I thought I'd throw this your way for consideration.
Good luck :)

Personally, I think expanding foam is evil. I'd build the outside first out of cardboard or cardstock, cover that in fiberglass resin, put a layer or two of fiberglass mat/cloth and resin on the inside, then use bondo/resin combo on the outside for smoothing and detail. Sand it and paint it. Then pad the inside with furniture padding foam.

as an avid warhammer 40k player, id love to see someone make some terminator armor!!! im just getting into making armor, so im not any help at all for advice, so all i can say is good luck! (y)

there is a helmet for both terminators and space marines on the pepakura website. They also have a lot of weapons like power fist and storm bolters
