solvent for sticker-backing?

You know when you peel a lable off of a container and it leaves that tacky residue? Anyone know of a solvent that would remove that? It seems that hot water and a brillo pad just doesnt do the trick.

any info appriciated.

*EDIT: Disregard. I've discovered "Goof-Off".

Well carbrator cleaner will work to get the tack off and the goo gone or goop gone(what ever its called) works welll

Yeah thats the stuff Goof-Off, guess I needed to read more,,,, sleeping pills are kicking in......

Isopropalnol (rubbing alchohol) works great!

Goo gone works great.

Lighter fluid is another old time trick that the toy guys use to get the stickers off old toy packages that works great too without damaging the surface of the item, just don't smoke or make a spark around it while doing it.
