smoothing clay sculpts?

but the white latex is curing now... hopefully ... I'm just curious how it will look... despite of the wrong colour...

Assuming that is a plaster negative mold, you can put it in the oven at about 150 degrees (I want to say Farenheit, that is the US standard right? I know the standard where you are is probably the opposite) It's not very hot at all really. Just keep an eye on it. It speeds the cure time of the latex greatly.

well its was dry over night, trimmed the edges roughly...

my god... it was rather flimsy so I put it back in to the mould and put in a layer of "spatel rubber" in dutch... wich is just a thicker form of latex wich didn't need to be poured but rubbed in with a tool.

I hope that when it all dries it's a little stronger and.... that it's sandable? or atleast.. a little?

it has a terrible rough surface... also quit dirty but I can clean that of when it's all dry.

then I'm gonna cut out the center stripes and the mic tips and put something behind it to make it more even and cooler etc...

anyone have any tips on how to make this work...? please don't say "use the trash can" :p although I'd understand that... :D :p

(sorry bout the horrible hair, just got out from under the shower)

You don't suck! That looks awesome! For a first try it looks really nice! I bet that my first try won't even be half as good.

BTW.. how did you make it stick to your face?

thank you man! means alot... but we'll see what it looks like when trimmed (hopefully sanded) and painted...

oeh well... takes years of nose training :p

nah it just kinda... well I donno... lay a flat balloon... or something else :facepalm .... on your face and it will stay in position... plus the fact it actually has a face model to it...

take your pic... just wanted to get the feeling of like "the" Sub-zero, so trying to pick elements from all the different appearances throughout the games history...

Hey Rick

So my friend is there anything you CANT do?? Ive got some water here and I was just wondering if you could turn it into a nice fruity red wine for me? Seriously man thats awesome!!!!! I LOVE those MK masks!!! Good work!!!

thank you!! :)

but erhm... this wasn;t that much of a succes.

I knew Latex would shrink a bit, but this was insane... was about 1/3 of what it was before..

anyway, threw the latex thing away and saved the plaster sculpt... let's see if I can find some fiberglas around here...

R Boba Fett

R Boba Fett,

Wow! That looks awesome (and I'm purposely not saying "for your first time" because I think it looks awesome period.

Take care choosing a paint. You don't want to be stuck sniffing something iffy. :)

Congrats on your first piece of work.

Yes, the foam head is a really nice base to start with. I've been thinking about trying to find one myself. I guess a wig or hat shop might have them.

hobby shops here, just the local one...

warning though, the clay won't actually stick to the foam, but that's easier for when you get to getting it out of the plaster though...

still looking for fiberglas...:facepalm
