Scratchbuilt Lewis Gun / T-21

Lifeburn

Hunter
I'm a big fan of the sandtrooper weapons and after scratchbuilding a DLT-19 (MG34) for my custom mando (see pics of it here http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=33826 ) I thought I would take on the task of making the Lewis gun.

I couldn't find any useful tutorials but I found this pic on TK-409's website

After seeing that I just whipped out some paper and a ruler and started making my own templates..

Then transfered the templates onto a piece of 3/4" thick wood twice...

After cutting them out, I glued the two pieces together then put screws in to hold it.

Then I started on the barrel. I used a piece of 3" pvc, 2" pvc, and a 3" to 2" reducer. I put those pieces together then put a piece of flex pipe (not sure what it's really called) over part of the 3" pipe...This is what I have so far!

Let me know what you think.

I can't remeber what its called exactly. It's like flex tubing or something. It's the stuff you connect to the bottom of gutter drains. Picked it up at Lowe's.

Worked on this thing a little last night and today. I drilled the hole for the trigger, then cut out some grips made of mat board and glued them on. I also made the little pieces that go right behind the barrel. Last I primed the barrel and gave it a coat of aluminum.

I still need to find some greeblies to add to the stock before I start painting it. Next I'll be adding the black coat of spray paint to the barrel. Enjoy!

Alright, I painted most of the barrel a flat black. I'm thinking of leaving the ribbed part chrome though cause it gives the gun a little more character.

Comments?

Well this thing is almost finished, just need to find some greeblies for it.

I buckled and went ahead and painted the ribbed part black to match the original.
