Scratch away damage

Hey guys! I know I'm a bit late here but are you actually talking about mustard as in the condiment? I had to chuckle at first reading this but then again, people have come up with new and unique ways of doing things on these boards.

I've heard of Vaseline, rubber cement, and latex methods but does mustard really work?.

I've never used this method, except for some small fine scratches. I think it's too difficult and more time consuming to get that movie look to the armor/helmet and to replicate the battledamages, but that's just me. Just a matter of preference i guess.
I've always painted everything on. I believe the original was done the same way too and i just feel more comfortable doing it that way.

LOL

muad dib, not actual mustard, the color mustard. If you look at the back of the screen used Fett helmet you can see there is a yellow mustard color.

Yep, actual mustard! Personally, I don't care for the results, but many do. As they say: "Your mileage may vary". Just have to find what works for YOU! ;)

i used scratch away method as did MMM. Basicly painted my armor the following colors :

primer grey, yellow, cobalt blue, hugger orange, and about 4 coats of white... and than beat the hell out of it. Dragged it around the sidewalk, threw rocks at it, shot at it, etc...i think MMM shot his also, but with a real gun.

if ya want pics, email me!

Yea it is actual mustard, not a color of paint as someone said. But instead of investing in liguid mask or something like that just apply a little mustard to the areas you want masked, let dry, paint over it, then scratch off.

liquid? i thought it was mustard powder, like how people use charcoal to add dirt. That seems like it could get messy.

Nope the liquid stuff. It isn't very messy, you apply it with a paint brush like you would liquid mask or something. It is kinda messy when you scratch it off it leaves dried up mustard everywhere unless you do it somewhere then sweep.
