Is this the right masking fluid?

I'm about to start my BM armor painting and I picked up a bottle of winsor & newton water colour colourless art masking fluid, I'll be using polly scale acrylic paint .
Did I get the right stuff?
if not ,what should I get?

Personally I find that stuff to expensive for something I'm just going to peel off and throw away. I use Parma from a hobby shop, works great and dries with a blue hue. Leaves no stain on the undercoat.

like so many things in this hobby... i don't think there's a "right" anything.

i used the windsor and newton stuff because it's easy to get. there may be better products, like the stuff andy mentioned... but if i can't run out to a local shop at 8pm and grab it, it's of no interest to me

the stuff you got will definitely do the job though!!

Thats it indeed, dont forget it clogs up on paintbrushes after a while so watch out for 'lumps' I found that out the hard way

This stuff is great... it's clear so it doesn't stain (but on the downside you can't see it once it dries, like the tinted stuff)... and it's easy to get out of brushes once it dries.
Just be careful what kind of paints you use it with. If the paint goes on thick, take your time removing it, otherwise you're going to get bigger chunks coming off than you drew on in the first place.

Where do I go for Masking Fluid? The people at Michael's Arts and Crafts look at me like I am daft when I ask.

I got mine at Michaels. It should be over with the artists' supplies somewhere.
Like the oil paints, canvas, watercolor sets. . . all that junk.

I ended up getting some at Aaron Brothers, they had clourless, and normal white, I got white as I figured if others like the blue because they can see it slight white tinting should be noticeable.

    Thanks Guys!

I found the masking fluid advertised here at Michael's. I buy my Parma brand from Hobbytown USA though.

Re: Is this the right masking fluid?

I'm ready to start masking my FP armour and went to my local Michael's yesterday, and this was the only masking fluid they had:

The bottle is different that the one pictured above, but it looks to be the same stuff. Anyone know if this stuff is correct?

    It wasn't cheap either...$21 a bottle!!

Yes, that's the right stuff. And the problem with Michael's is not whether or not they carry it--they do. It's finding someone who works there who knows what they're talking about. Don't ask--go to the paint section and look. It is very expensive, though, and as has been pointed out here and elsewhere, there are several alternatives. Most people who use this stuff are very happy with the results, however.

Re: Is this the right masking fluid?

Maybe they just updated their packaging, but that should be the right stuff.
If you're doing a lot of projects that require masking, the price isn't all that bad. I've had 1 bottle of this stuff that I've had for over 2 years and I've used it to mask the backs of 5 or 6 Fett helmets and some other smaller costume components. It hasn't dried up or anything, and I still have well over 2/3 of the bottle left.

    Cool thanks.

I found this stuff in the paint section with the other W&N stuff, but the packaging was different so I wanted to make sure before I opened it and used some.
