Well, I'm going to assume you're asking about painting something made from aluminum, and not the best "aluminum color."
Rustoleum and Krylon both make good, rugged color coats that could easily be used on metal items.
Before applying your color coats, I'd recommend a good "self-etching" primer. Duplicolor makes one of these primers and it should be pretty easy to find at an auto parts store.
