Mrk-1 helmet

Fett Seven

Active Hunter
This is something I've been working on for few weeks. Now with the passing of Ralph McQuarrie, it seem like the right time to post this.
We have all seen photos of the McQuarrie Boba Fett concept helmet. Skygunbro made that helmet a few year back. The animated version of the Fett concept helmet appeared on a few episodes on the Clone Wars.
I've taken three names to come up with the Mrk-1 title.
M- McQuarrrie
R-Rako Hardeen
K-Obi Wa Kenobi
#1 (my first helmet build)

I started the build with WOF's Fett helmet template to made the done. Back filled the dome with ridged expanding foam. Pealed off the paper template, applied bondo and started sanding and filling again and again.

Now you made me very curious to see the final result, especially that this is a scratch build helmet. Keep it coming!

In the next phase of the build. I added the brow or in this case it's more like a brim. The brim I made from foam board and added a wood veneer. To add more body to the helmet I created a temporary wall from paper(junk mail)and back filled with more foam.

So are you going to go for pure RMQ or TCW animated style? They are similar, but different enough that I think it would really want to go one way or the other.

It's been a while since I've worked on this project, here's an update. The scratch build is made from every thing in my garage, wood, paper, plastic and bondo.

The scratch helmet was passed on to a bubby who made a waste mold for me and casted a "rondo" copy. With the helmet now of one medium, all the finishing sculpting and be done.
