masking fluid

is it possible to add food coloring to masking fluid to help make it easier to see where you're painting it on? I have some pretty bright white masking fluid but I was wondering if you could do that just to make it show up better in the event you're painting on something white. that make sense?

Don't mean to thread hijack, but with the Humbrol maskol, does it work with Acrylics? Is that what is most commonly used to paint Boba helmets?

I've been using toothpaste as a masking "fluid," though it's thick enough in some spots to identify it off the bat. What I do too is also take pictures of the masking so I know where I put it on there in case I forget

i've added a little red food coloring to my masking fluid (making it pink) and that has helped quite a bit.

water color in a tiny tube is about as cheap as food coloring...and it wont stain things...not sure about food coloring and not staining things I know it stains my hands....

I've done the exact same thing, but I was a bit worried the dye would be left behind when the masking was removed, how's it worked out? Any pink running into paint already down?

no problems at all. but like i said, i only use a very small amount of food coloring. 2-3 drops of red at most, just enough to tint the latex to make it easier to see once it dries.

I use acrylic paint..a touch of that does the same thing. I learned that from the horror folks for tinting latex inexpensively.
