Are you doing a whole head bust or just a facecast?
I am looking for a close representation of my head to make a helmet and for a future kit fisto mask. I could probably just form the back of my head from clay for the purposes of getting pretty close without doing it all by cast. What would you suggest?
You're gonna need the neck and probably a bit of the shoulders too.
Truthfully, if you are doing just a pull over latex mask and not an appliance you could probably use just a styrofoam craft head on the cheap. Build it up with about a 3/4"-1" layer of clay because the foam heads run a tad small compared to a real head.
Maud said it best. Now if you want, check out Smooth-Ons' Alginate, "Algisafe. It's usually about 50 bucks and it will get your head, neck, s houlders and prob. the majority of your chest done.
I just did a friends cast, and between the alginate, the mother mold, and the hydocal, I think it came out to 110 bucks - but he'll have it for ever as long as he takes care of it.
