I approciate ansewr. But I think thedentedhelmet community misunderstand what i mean.
What i means i just wanna see fabric through photo(jpeg file or any image file) I don't have to sse real sample.
i'm afraid of copy by china or korea, too.
i'm mania like you and them. I'd like to attend this honored project in my country. And i wanna attend only me.
So you need not worried about that i'll copy your item. I'll never do that.
I'm gonna buy 5 yard. Of course I'll pay via paypal.
I'd like to pay via USPS Global Priorty Mail or USPS Global Express mail.
Can i decide by myself about shipping cost and shipping way?
Also when you send your item can you wrap with box. i don't wanna paper bag.
because it's not save for item. If you use paper bag item is likely to damaged.
And can you tell me that i should pay added shipping cost? How much?
At last i wondering about your order notice.
If i buy 5 yard How much should i pay fee? I should pay just only $3?
And i wndering onething. what is this "PM"? I don't get it.

PM stands for "private message"; it's basically like e-mail on a forum. Click on Kwally's name, a drop-down menu will appear. Choose "Send private message to..." and write your message.

Hope that's helpful. I also hope Kwally has time to check his PMs. I won't have any money for a few weeks, so hopefully he can set something aside for me that I can pay for later.

Okay, I have had a lot of questions concerning the brand of the pants I used for my Joker...

    So, for anyone still wondering...

I am sorry, but I do not know the brand. The pants only had one tag and it said 100% wool. They were bought at Macy's and they were originally light grey with white pinstripes.

Any of you on this thread know that if I had that information that I would be glad to share it with all of you.

As for the dying instructions... I have posted them on one of the other pages of this thread.

I wish everyone the best of luck and I am always glad to help...

P.S. Thanks to everyone for checking out my auctions and for all the wonderful comments about my costume...

Oh! Yes the vest is 100% custom...

    No labels...

I think I said in a much earlier post that the back was original a dress shirt that I dyed to make the right color. The front was originally a light tan denim material that I also custom dyed using Rit Kelly Green and a little Rit Golden Yellow. The pattern for the vest is the one listed earlier on this thread by myself and LSFU, with a few slight modifications...

Oh! Even though you cannot see it in the photos, I have the 1944 Mercury Wing Head Dime as the "Missing/Unbuttoned" button...

Well, those of us up here in NE TX got caught in IKE's path yesterday and I lost power about 3PM CDT yesterday. STILL no power, I'm on my sister's Mac right now and have just discovered to my horror that the suspenders' auctions have ended. I FULLY intended to win the 2nd set that went for $41.

Hey Ghostsoldier--how you coming with making your suspenders??

I really need some help with this suspender thing--if anybody can make me a pair, I'd be happy to pay them a reasonable sum.

Otherwise, this Joker will be suspenderless on Halloween--and I KNOW none of you want that!!

guys, I'm going set the last day for ordering the fabric on Wednesday. The reason being...not even half of the people who said they wanted fabric have ordered. I can't print the 450 yds when only 200 has been orders. Soooo I'm going to adjust the yardage to around 300 unless we get a lot of people buying by Wednesday. Sorry if it is taking me a while to respond to pms...I just found out I have gluten intolerance...(pretty much can't eat any grains wheat barley oats etc) soooo the military is trying to find a reason why they shouldn't kick me out and it isn't looking good...but this is still going to be a success!!!

Great idea Kwally!! Thanks for taking care of those of us who paid like we said we would. It's not right to hold up our fabric for everyone else who's trying to get the $ together. I realize money's tight these days, but you either have the cash to buy now, or you don't. It's not personal--just business. Hope your other situation works out for you. Thanks again for all you're doing to get us other Jokers dressed appropriately this Halloween!!

    Kody,
Sorry to hear that, bro...that's the military for ya, tho...it's just big business, like everything else in the world. Hope it works out, man.

As far as adjusting the fabric order: What are the ramifications (from the print company) for making a smaller order? Are they gonna want to increase the cost to make up the deficit in order volume, to cover the cost of tooling a limited run?

I hope not but I'm going to talk to the guy today about it. It shouldn't be a big problem as we are only using one color and a lightweight fabric. I'll let you all know.

Hey guys, if anyone is still looking for suspenders:

    http://www.andrewmcdowall.co.uk/braces-clip.html

Scroll down (second to last) and they have the all white/white diamond (which is the same exact style), you just have to color in the diamonds yourself with a fabric marker.

Despite the fact that I do feel bad for Kwally with all these people bailing on him, it is a bit of a relief to know now that I didn't get my order in too late. I was afraid there'd be a mad dash to the order thread, and that there was no way I'd get mine before Halloween.

I propose a toast to everyone who helped make this possible, and everyone who supported Kwally on this whole thing, and also gave the rest of us some great tips for other parts of the costume.

All it takes is a little... push.

Hopefully the price per yard won't go up, as it was already more than what I should have spent, but I'm a man of my word, unlike some of the others who aren't going through with their orders...

I hope everything turns out for you okay, Kwally!

can a size SMALL shirt be made from 2 yards? i definitely will send the payment out right now if it can. 2 yards by 63" sounds like enough fabric to me but i don't wanna dish out an extra 26 for another yard if i'm only gonna use scraps of that extra yard.

    thanks in advance guys.

Yes we found these braces a week or so ago. About $60 USD once you've paid for shipping. That's probably too rich for THIS Joker's blood. Harley Quinn will have my A#@ if I spend too much more $ on this costume!!! She's pretty PO'd already at my $50 knife!!!

Say guys and gals…back to this button deal. I saw the film again this weekend (or about 2/3 of it until IKE struck and we lost power in the theater!) and I think the buttons are sort of a blue pearlescent color. If someone has a high rez pic that shows different, no problem, but I specifically watched for a button color this time and I'm pretty sure that during the interrogation scene, you could see a bluish button on the shirt at the collar.

BTW, I watched CLOSELY for sight of the braces during the film and never actually saw them once. You CAN see the back of Ledger's pants being pulled up after he's been flipped onto the table, which suggests braces are being worn, but again, I don't think they ever actually get any screen time.

All of this of course, to rationalize my NOT having braces because I missed Sinister's auction!!!

I'm not really a regular here (yet) but I put in an order for the fabric and felt like giving back so here is a tip on the pants. Sarah Jessica Parker has her own clothing line called "Bitten" and they have a pair of pants that is a dark purple with white pinstripes. I recommend getting them a couple inches longer than neccessary because they cuff at the bottom but with a slight hemming they fit the bill nicely. Running them through a wash a few times also help to lighten the fabric a little.

Two yards will definately do for a small shirt if you don't need to do every piece twice because of mistakes I asked my tailoress and she said that about 1.6 square yards would already be enough. So two yards with 63inches width is perfect since it gives you a little room for mistakes. As for me I'll still let the tailoress do the work though

Oh and concering the suspenders: If you want the perfect suspenders I'd look for ones with button fastening and not clips. Because to a suit you usually wear those with buttons if you want to follow certain dress codes. Since the joker wears a crombie coat (that's the usual form of a city coat you wear over a suit. One of the details that define a crombie is the hidden button-facing on the front. So if you're still looking for a coat, maybe you best go with the word crombie if you want to dye a coat. Maybe you'll also find one in purple) suit jacket, vest, pocket watch and all those little details, he definately has suspenders with button fastening in my opinion. But that's just for the die hards out there

Sorry klohse, the suspenders (braces) do get a split second of screen time. In the interrogation scene he quickly adjusts the one on his left shoulder that has kinda fallen down. But that is all we get...

As for my auctions, I am truly sorry you missed out klohse. I hope the storm hasn't done too much to you and yours... Take care.

Actually, that was one of my auctions.

And I would like to send a great big thank you to all that were able to buy my left over inventory of personal items...

I really hope that if someone is able to pay that kind of money for a pair of suspenders (braces), that we here on this thread can put up the little bit of cash for a really awesome shirt!!!

After all that we have been through to get this done right...

Come on guys! Support the effort!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for that little tidbit. I knew there had to be a name for that style.. I did a bit of google/ebay searching and didn't find any that were an exact match, though. Some very very close, but none with all the same features his has. I'm not going to spend that kind of money on a coat that's close when I can sew my own for the same price and have it exact.. But at least now I know what to keep an eye out for.

Oh yes, and I sent in payment for six yards.

No problem, I'm always happy to help But I guess it's gonna be quite difficult to find that exact style the joker wears. I own two crombies which I wear when going out on cold days (I'm quite a fashion victim if you want so ). But I've never seen a crombie coat that has a double vent at the back like the jokers has. And I've just done some research on ebay.com. There is none with a hidden button-fastening which is normally a detail on a crombie. Also you'll probably have to change the lining since orange lining is not really common. I've only seen crombies with red lining a few times. I have ordered the joker coat from redballs for my costume, since it is definately the closest you can get to the details. I can only tell that from the photos since I haven't got it yet, but I've only heard good things about it. Plus you definately will pay the same amount of money for a real wool crombie overcoat as you pay for the redballs coat.
If you can sew it is maybe worth a try to get a pattern and do it yourself. But I can imagine such a piece of garment is one of the most difficult works in tailoring.
Still hope I could help a little

Alright, I know the subject of Sinister's shoes has been brought up before, but so far it hasn't been asked; what are they called? I know they're from Aldo, but do they have a specific model name? I found a pair that looks really similar, and I'm wondering if these are the ones.

    http://www.aldoshoes.com/eng/storeSe...=US&colorid=22

If not, could you maybe direct me to the correct ones?
Also, since an important part of this board seems to be coming to a consensus on the exact color of his outfit, I have to open the floor for one important question. Are the Joker's shoes black or brown? In that one promotional shot with him sitting on the bench in the jail cell, they do look really brown (as well as in some other screencaps). However, in the shots of the costumes on public display, and especially in the promotional "posing" shots of Heath on a white-background photo set, they do kind of look black, or at the very least, an EXTREMELY dark brown. So, what's everyone else's opinion?

    To answer your questions...

Yes, those are the exact same shoes I started with from ALDO. The are the Werwulf in dark brown. They are also cheaper than what I originally paid! Shoot! After the sand paper treatment they will look just like my finished shoes.

As for the color of the Joker's shoes in the movie. They are certainly a brown suede like material. Lighting does effect the look in everyshot, but they are brown...

Kwally, I sure hope this is your auction...

    EDIT:
    From Ebay:

Some tool is selling the pattern that the good people on this forum worked hard to get...I wonder if that is a violation of eBay's policy and Pinder or Sereiana could get the auction removed.

Thanks, now I can finally order those shoes confidently! I guess they are brown, at least they seem to be when I compare them to the black square on his socks. Still not 100% sure if they're that light of a shade of brown, but I guess there's not really much I can do about that. Also, I know it's probably implied, but I'm just gonna say it; you HAVE to show us more pics of the costume once you get the shirt and makeup! It looks awesome!
Also, does this mean you're going to forgo trying to find the blazer and overcoat?

That is without a doubt pinders pattern. I can tell by the hex layout - which is not 100% accurate in terms of pattern layout so we can rest easy - in that regard.

So, Sin... I totally dig the shoes, yet again.

I have contemplated posting about the shoe color a few times, glad someone else did first, so it didn't seem like I was nitpicking your ****** outfit. I was thinking maybe is there a black powder you could put on the shoes....sort of like shoe polish? Maybe soot. Like hair peppering for shoes!

Hey just FYI TDH rules state you cannot post an ebay thread that does not belong to you. You can only post a pic of the item, if you so choose.

It may be good to delete that link from your posts, to keep others from following it.

Yes but that IS ripping off pinders pattern - interestingly I think that they just used the picture because their fabric sample pic looks COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

I'd consider using someone else using a pattern of this high quality rippling off. It took along time, and alot or work to put it together, as we all know, and this guy just walks in an uses it. I'd consider that ripping off, wouldn't you?

You are more than welcome! Always glad to help!

I will be sure to post pictures once the shirt is finished. I plan on taking some on Halloween in my full get up...

Because of time and financial restraints, I will have everything but the blazer and overcoat in time for Halloween.

However, I do plan on finishing all of this costume at a later date...

Thanks to all of you for the kind words about my costume. It is good to know that all the hard work is paying off...

Definitely looks like one of my old patterns and I could care less. I have since updated and done more changes to make the layout 100% correct. Using what Sereiana posted and staring at more screencaps, I am CERTAIN that my updated pattern has the correct layout. This pattern will not be posted, though.

Since the last day of ordering was yesterday, the only possibility for you to get some fabric is if someone has some fabric left and can give it to you. But that would definately not happen in time for halloween.

well the issue is that that pattern doesnt match the fabric print and pinder, what do you mean exactly; I thought the vector is what ended up used? or did you do a final illustrator pattern after the fact?

I've been a silent member for a while and I need to chime in on the Vero thing.
Two weeks ago a seller who I believe lurks on this board and the SHH board got a link of one of my auctions, where he proceeded to copy my webpage html code I created, and downloaded all my pictures. Later he listed everything I had listed under his seller name with my webpage and pictures, I almost had a heart attack!

Ebay cancelled his auctions 30 times and he kept relisting. It kicks me to see all his auctions with my html design.
This week unibody copied pics from the Singapore seller's auctions and listed their items, he is listing and selling items with no actual pics. Again ebay doesn't do anything about if the seller is making money.
    Ebay sucks sometimes!
This pattern/shirt looks a lot like the pattern that was taken a while ago and was being sold as iron-on sheets.

I feel your pain...the person I dealt with was over on SHH also. The VeRo action is a bit of a hassle at first, because you have to fax the first one in, but afterwords, you can access it via the eBay site...supposedly, ebay is on your side.

I just don't undertand the mentality of taking it without asking...all the person had to do, in my case, was just ask, and I would have agreed...

The Vero thing is a double side sword. They kept cancelling his auctions, but he kept relisting, later he created fake ids and bid on my items and won a couple. So retaliation is what I fear most. He knows my auctions and keep selling whatever I list, he took from me several items, selling them with my pics and much cheaper than me.

What you are describing appears to be nothing but blatant extortion and/or exploitation of you; surely eBay can do something about this guy, given the gravity of his actions?

as i said in my post (that no one seemed to read) the guy has put a pic up of the shirt/fabric hes selling its not actually pinders design so to speak

it looks like hes printed it off & very accurately traced it to the fabric with a fine line fabric marker

I've gotten to where I HATE "feepay". They charge you out the wazoo for listings then, take a percentage of what you sell the item for and THEN gig you again via paypal and take part of the payment!! I think their really owned by the government!! A few weeks back, I discoved the Socks Rock information--may have been here on TDH---and bought a dozen pair of socks to sell on ebay. I covered my cost per pair, added a few bucks and covered my S&H expenses, and sold the socks for less than anyone else on ebay. Some cretean bids on 3 pair of socks, doesn't pay for them and THEN, on the SAME DAY he wins the auction, leaves me negative feedback about the "poor quality" of the socks!! That was over a month ago. Ebay has done NOTHING about this to date, despite my filing an unpaid item claim and reporting the abusive feedback to their poor excuse for "customer service".

Speaking of "feepay", in case you Jokers haven't noticed, there are a couple more suspenders auctions up right now. Both sellers have bought the white braces and colored the diamonds with a fabric marker. They look GOOD, but the straps are too white. It's likely not be possible to dye the suspenders and get them the right shade of grey and then color the diamonds green.

I think since Sinister is not going to bother trying to find a blazer and crombie, he should have PLENTY of time to whip out a few more pair of braces for us non-braced Jokers!! OH HO HA HA HA HO HE HA HA HA!

Seriously, I wish I could. Unfortunately, I am swamped by college classes right now and have had very little time to even finish my own stuff. That is why I am not attempting the blazer and overcoat right now...

But thanks for the good chuckle...

Hey everyone, I already posted this in the "joker findings" thread, but just in case some of you suspender-less jokers didn't know...I emailed "Bromleys" about their joker-esque white suspenders asking if they were planning to restock size medium in white and I got this response:

    "Dear Danae,

Thank you for your email. The new stock of white elastic diamond braces will be in stock early Oct also Green & Black diamond

    Regards

He added an attachment photo of the Joker's braces as a reference! (It's the hi-res close up!)

....I'm not sure if these will be in time for halloween but I'm assuming yes, considering they would make a killing! By the way these are the button on style(!)

Danae, thanks for the great news! I'm starting to get REALLY excited for next month. We're going to have 100% accurate shirts, socks (Tabio) and now the braces. Reminds me, has anyone heard back from Turnbull and Asser yet? Money's super tight right now, but Lord knows I'd drop 175 big ones in a NY second to own the same tie Heath wore.

    o_O

    It's the season of miracles!

I was wondering that too. When I called to put myself on the list, they told me mid/late september. And since now technically qualifies as late September I called them up again to inquire further (this was a day or two ago). They told me that they expect that the ties will pretty much show up without warning, and I made sure to confirm that I was on the list. The next day, I get an email from them asking for billing info. So if you don't get an email within the next day or too, why don't you give them a call...
    .....
........when you want to start taking things a little more seriously.

    Ok, I'm sorry I couldn't resist that.

This is GREAT news. Between figuring out how to get a shirt sewn together, sanding up and tacking leather to a pair of shoes (credit to Sinister for the instructions), and painting a pair of black leather gloves purple, I don't know if I could've dealt with having to spend hours coloring every single little diamond green with a fabric marker. I would've gotten some of the white, stitched pattern ebay suspenders where they already colored in the diamonds, but $110? Seriously? I know screen accuracy doesn't come cheap, but we're not talking about the T&A tie or anything, we're talking about a pair of (barely visible in the film) suspenders. Plus, it's not really screen accurate, the straps on the suspenders are still white, as opposed to the grey film-used ones.

they are coming with a green diamond on black brace i think those will be the most accurate

i do agree with you on the rediculous price for the braces on ebay , and i can say that the closer halloween comes the worse the prices will get i saw at least 50% mark up on the scars alone from 2 weeks ago, its just out of hand, but when theres a huge market for something people must cash in, but hell if it doesnt matter to you wait until november 1st and watch prices go back to normal lol gauranteed. my lady is so pissed at me as it is for spending money and so much time on this project , i failed to tell her about ordering the 26$ a yard fabric too (oops) but when it comes between us it was 4$ a yard on sale lol...... i love this joker stuff

Ok, I guess everyone's thinking it, and though I hate to be the one who says it, at the risk of sounding like a whiner... any news on when the fabric ships?

OK Jokers! My wig arrived yesterday. Going to the cosmetology school here on campus to have it cut and styled a bit. It's actually a bit darker than the photos show--the flash is bleaching the color some.

I MAY even let the cosmo girls color it. Anybody done any coloring that their proud of?? SO many products/shades of green out there. Wondering if anyone has achieved the wonderful pond scum green that we're looking for??

BTW--these aren't MY pics. They are photos the ebay seller I bought the wig from used. Just posting them here FYI.

This wig cost me $27. The cosmetology girls will cut, color and style it for me FREE!

Compared to the $150 and UP prices I've seen on ebay…well you get the picture!

The Internet needs a better class of posters. And we're gonna give it to them.

As for the costume, anyone have recommendations on the fabric for the back of the vest? I've got three different types, but none are really right on...one would really even probably be better for the pants if it were a thicker material.

Ordered the ALDOs today but not entirely sure I'm going to scuff them. I do intend on wearing all but the makeup to my company Christmas party this year. Well, I haven't fully decided on the makeup...

    (this might've been posted before)
hey guys, for a pretty cheap alternative, hot topic has some alright duds

    http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/sto...34374302037309

what i like most is the tripp hexagonal shirt, and while it's not 100% screen accurate, it's not bad for about 30 bucks, especially when 1 yard of the screen accurate fabric is already $26. i'm planning on using this tripp shirt to just parties and stuff, cuz y'know, it is a nice shirt. you can use a promo code GHTBD91W for bdays in sept, just make sure when you sign up you say your bday is in sept. everything else isn't too bad for the price either; while nothing is 100% screen accurate, at least it looks a little better than those cheaply made costumes by those costume companies that sell for $60

i figure if im going to do the joker as he should be then im going to do it as close as possible to the screen version and not waste my time/money on that awful mess, that may be fine for the kids. the only cool thing about it is that you will get your shirt before i do lol. As far as I know, the order was placed on September 17, 2008.

That puts us all one week into the time frame he gave us.

He said it would take three weeks for printing of the material.

I am guessing that he is keeping low key and getting things done.

I am sure we will hear more as it gets closer to October 8, 2008.
