Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I've found a company that specializes in large scale digital fabric printing. They made a custom all over print jacket for a theater production at my university so i know their stuff is top of the line. I'm scheduled to speak with a sales rep soon so I would like to give him some numbers. To have this work, I need real interest and commitment. A huge company is not going to waste their time to print me 1 square yard of fabric. If everyone pulls together, we can get a good deal. I'm also planning on sewing up shirts to sell on eBay or to anyone who doesn't feel comfortable sewing....I know this will be considerably cheaper than the $700 shirts or pants going on eBay...with that being said, they wont be $35 either!!!
Thanks,
Kody

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Sounds interesting. I have been looking myself for a company to do this. Have you got your pattern yet?
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Ya, I got the pattern from FettFan54. It is VERY screen accurate! I don't think he made it himself, but I could be wrong. Someone was obviously gracious enough to give it away. I saw some lady trying to sell the pattern for $45!!! Lemme know if you are interested as I want to start a tally.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Do you have any guesses on about how much it might be for a couple yards?
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Yea I am very interested pending price. I would want enough to make at least two shirts (and I want you to make me two shirts...)
Here are two patterns that someone on the RPF posted, the first one is what it should look like on a blue shirt, and the last one is the true pattern but larger with repeating (as it was really hard to get the first oneto line up). Also the 2nd one has new tiles in it that aren't in the first pattern and is more accurate. One side of the hex should be about an inch long to give you an idea of scale.

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...okershirt1.jpg
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Ok, that one looks pretty good. I have another pattern that FettFan54 posted over in the cargo hold. You guys just tell me which one you think looks better.

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
HOW MUCH WOULD U CHARGE FOR A SHIRT THAT YOU CAN MAKE KWALLY
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Pending price, obviously, I would be interested in 3-4 yards to make my own shirt.
What kind of material are you looking at?
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I would also be interested in 2 or 3 yards, pending cost.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I think FettFan's pattern is too uniform, if you look at the real shirt that is a lot of randomness to it. His follows a very basic pattern. He did a great job on it but it's not as accurate as it could be. Also his color is a bit off.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Awesome! The fabric will be 100% cotton if everything goes as planned. I don't have an accurate quote right now, but it will obviously be cheaper in bulk.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Ok so here is the updated pattern once again. The guy on the RPF (jarvis) has been great in updating the pattern to be more accurate. Also he posted a large sized file for me so you could get it printed. So here it is.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...okershirt1.jpg
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Man. That is getting awfully close.
Is it just me though, or does the shirt look more blue than white? When I look at this pattern, it seems "bright". If the patterns inside the hexes were bigger, it would appear "darker". I think the size of the hexes are good.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
kwally...are you a member of the RPF, there is interest over there as well
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Ya, I'm an RPF member, and I noticed you alerted them about this thread! Thanks for that! It would be great to get a ton of people on this as it will be LOADS cheaper to order around 150-200 yds opposed to 50 or so....That is a ton of fabric, but everywhere I look people are begging for this at a reasonable price. Sithcamaro and others have amazing products (I love that guy's stuff), but a $500 (saw one sold for $970!!) shirt is not even in my vocabulary.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Awesome!! Thanks for the bigger pattern!! I was really close to photoshoping it last night, but I decided to work on my 3:10 to Yuma project. Glad I didn't!
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Just an fyi, when resizing things (photoshop)
for some reason, the algorythm for raising the DPI of a photo, is much better than the algoryghm for 'scaling'.
So if you take a 500 x 500 image, with dpi of 72 (screen, jpg etc) rais its dpi to 300-500 you will get a much crisper picture than if you do a scale / size on it.
Just an fyi for anyone doing this sort of formatting etc.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I was looking at reference pic after reference pic, and it seems we truly do have a winner. In the jail scene, you can clearly notice all the hexagons that are in our pattern. The colors of the smaller pattern that was posted are nearly spot on with the fabric being light blue and the hexagons darker. I can take color samples from that pattern and apply it to the larger one.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Would also be interested in this fabric !!!
Everything would be depending on price - but then I would be looking at at least 3 yards and maybe more.
I'd be the one making my shirts - if possible :)
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Well get to posting abotu it Kwally!!! LOL!!
I think there are a lot of people that would be interested
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Yea as I said the above main pattern is too light, it is ment to be printed on a blueish colored material. Your best bet would be to find material that is close to that light bluish purple color and have it printed on that rather then pay to have the shirt printed in two colors (as that would drive the price up considerably!).
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I will be interested in at least enough for one shirt, maybe two, depending on price.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Here's the two fan-made patterns I snagged....

Here's a good hi-rez shot of the shirt color....

And a shot of the shirt pattern....this pic is REALLY hi-rez in original form, at 2167 x 3250 (5.6 MB), and you can see the patterns up-close...PM me if you need a copy emailed to you....

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I disagree I think the Fettfan pattern is too uniform and if you look closely at the real shirt the patten is much more random that his. I am not saying his isn't nice but it's not 100% accurate. Also his is missing some of the tiles from the original. I think jarvis's patten is as close to the real deal as possible. He is updating his based on pictures taken of the screen used costume seen in person not just from the movie.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Will you give out the name of this company. Myself and a friend have the patters for a spidey costume and we need someone to be aboe to print it up on fabrick for us. Thanks

I have to agree with Predatormv

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Don't forget these ref photos, there are also some on flickr if you do a search

definitely interested, as long as it's a good pattern. the one provided on the RPF is the 'best' I have seen,

I'm in if you can make me a shirt!
Thanks

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
i've already pm'd but just so we have a count, i'm in too.
i also understand that i am a complete stranger to y'all, so hi everyone!!! heh
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Anyone want to go post an interest thread over on the RPF there seems to be some people that would be interested in some fabric over there as well.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I'll make a thread on the rpf tonight for my run and update the list with TDH + RPF so we can all see the #'s. I think this is going to be huge!! My girlfriend is going to laugh her butt off when I get 300 yds of fabric!! HAHA!!
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I'll have to say that the Jarvis pattern is our best bet right now. It looks really really close to the true fabric, and unless someone gets an actual screen used shirt in hand, we will never get it 100% right. I think we'll get 99.9%, but maybe not 100%. I made a thread over at the rpf. I'll release the name of the company after I have the order in and confirmed. You gotta understand that this is a textile company that supplies designer clothes. I don't want a ton of people calling them and asking for the same thing we're trying to do....it really is a delicate situation to get this done domestically as I don't have a "real" business. The spidey suit idea would be sweet because these guys can digitally print on lycra!!!
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
If we get around 30-40 people that would be AWESOME!!! The whole cutting and shipping part on my end will suck...but i think the price is going to be very reasonable.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
this is going to be such a great idea. i've not seen this before where people all band together on a forum to get someting done, i hope it all works out!!! (fingers crossed cuz i really want this shirt!!)
i had a joker costume attempt some time ago, if i can find the pic i'll oout it up
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Yo Kwally, I'd like to be added to the list. :)
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Well guys! This is getting bigger than I ever imagined! We have a TON of people overnight over at the rpf! Right now I count about 23. I'll try and update the list tonight as I got to get to work. I got an Irish fest this weekend so I'll pry be awol until Sunday night. I'll let you all now where we stand on Monday.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Kwally...I unfortunately have to bow out.....soemthing has come up that will leave me in the lurch for awhile....sorry... :(
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Hey, kwally...put me on the list for some yardage...that is, if the price is right, I'll buy into it too....the more we folks we can get, the lower the price will be (I'm assuming)...;)
Rob
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
If the price is right, I am in. I have the pattern from someone else if I wanna make my own, but printed fabric is the way to go I think.
Once I get an estimated price I will hop on board for this. :)
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Pending price I may be intrested. :)
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Same pending price im down for enough fabric to make 1-2 shirts
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Hey Kody!
Might as well put me down for enough for 2 (perhaps 3 if my brother is in) shirts :)
Enjoy the fest mate and have a Guinness for me! :)

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Hey guys! Wow, this is getting pretty huge, and we have over 40 people right now!! I'm going to be gone for a majority of this week, but I'm guessing that I'll have an accurate quote by the end of the week. With this much interest, I'm praying for a reasonable price! The fest was pretty awesome, Dave! Gaelic Storm was there (celtic rock band if you didnt already know)! They were awesome! Their piper had a set of uilleann pipes, and I was pretty jealous!

I've been learning for about a year, and my girlfriend's dad is an amazing piper. I've played the guitar for about 6-7 years and been in a band for about 3. I'm trying to get a nice celtic band together, but it is hard to find players. Oh well! It is fun just to play in the garage!
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Wow, over 40 people! This madness is like gravity, all it needed was a little push. Thanks for pushing, Kwally! :lol

Yeah, me too...I'm learning...I walk around the house, squawking on my J. Dunbar practice chanter like a dying duck, tryng to learn from The Green Book, but sucking royally...I'll never be like my heroes Neal Anderson (The Antipypr, former Seven Nations piper, member of Rathkeltair) or Scott Long (current Seven Nations piper)...my wife wants to kill me...:D
Good luck with the band! :thumbsup

Hi guys, I'm new here. I'm a regular on the SuperHeroHype forum. I'm definitely in on the shirt/fabric. I am not sure whether I want a finished shirt or just fabric, but regardless, I want another yard or two of fabric. Before I put in my final "Yes", I will wait for the quote. I'm glad to help make the price lower too!

I'd love to get a hold of that pattern especially in vector format as that is what the two digital printers I'm talking with want. Can you send a copy to my email?? It is kwally89@yahoo.com dont email about the fabric guys. I get a TON of pms everyday between here and the rpf. It is hard enough responding to all of those!! I'm on here every couple hours (pathetic I know!) so I'll respond to you in no time!

this an incredible amount of people involved, really hope this all works out, i had my first go at making prosphetic scars today. stuck it all on my face and it was pretty terible looking, but the mechanics behind it were there and i learnt where i went wrong.
so thats good right? heh

Small world...I'm one of the new guys over on the SHH board!:D Electric Sixx, berg and Death have got it going on over there!

Not to change the subject, but can anyone answer this one???
The picture of Heath's Joker Vest on the left is from the cover of EMPIRE Magazine...
The picture of Heath's Joker Vest on the right is from a public display in China...
Both are the actual wardrobe used in the film, so what's up with the buttons???

I've noticed some really great fan costumes have it unbuttoned as well. I'm going to say that the display in China is bogus! I pretty much worship Deathfromabove's Joker. The shirt and a few other things are off about the suit, but he's got the make-up and facial expressions down perfectly. I desperately want long hair....

If not, can you add me to the list please brother???

Why that "flower" is on there and not on the Empire pic, I haven't figured out yet...unless that was a "hero" (prototype/press use) suit on display in China for the premiere....
Here's some shots of another suit that was on display (I believe) here in America...

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I'm not going to act like an expert on the subject, but I saw these pictures about 3 weeks ago and I'm pretty sure the China display is a press outfit. It has to be. To start, the fabrics look different... like things that would never be comfortable to wear. Second, the buttons on the vest are indeed different. Now, heres the kicker... did any of you see the pictures where people were standing next to the outfit?
It's tiny! I mean, it looked almost normal compared to the small people in the picture, but Heath's stature is WELL above them, he was no small fry. I also felt the shoes in the China display were more "boot-esque" than oxford wingtip hushpuppy-esque.
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Soooo....do you guys think I should grab a 1944 mercury dime and put it as the second button??? I dont know because I have never seen the second button...buttoned..it is always unbuttoned.

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Hey guys,
I've been thinking long and hard and I really want to somehow incorporate a donation to Pam and FP with all this....I can't even imagine what they're going through, we have sooo many people that we can do something! Depending on the price per yard, I was thinking that everyone who buys some fabric should donate any amount they want directly on FP's website. I'm not going to ask you if you donated or tell you how much to give, but I think it is the thought that counts, and I trust you guys to do the right thing! I'm going to speak with the vice president tonight!!! So pray and cross your fingers!!
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
true, I went ahead and grabbed one ($1 from a local coin dealer). Im just going to make it into a button and the second one down (maybe just leave it unbuttoned it wont be that hard to make so not sure).
-
Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Forgive me for my Newbie-ness, but what is Pam and FP? If am going to donate something, I would first like to know to whom I am donating.

No prob man! FettPride is a Boba armor maker on the boards here. His loved one was diagnosed with a severe throat cancer, and we have all been trying to help him out as much as possible with charity auctions and such. I'm not going to requiry this because it is pretty ****** to have to require it, but I was throwing it out there as a good Christian thing to do...I can't even imagine what they're going through, and it makes me just about cry when I think of my fiance in a situation like that....its really a sad deal.

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Holy ****. I definitely agree. I definitely want a shirt/fabric, but if I can't, I would still like to help with that. My wallet is weak as of late, but will do what I can. It is refreshing to see other believers staying strong in these hard times for any who follow the Lord.
On a lighter note, did you get word back from the printers? If you posted it, I missed it.

Wes...I thought the same thing when I first saw those series of pics...that vest material looks like neon cotton denim or something....but, even if it is a "press" suit, it's still identifiable to the mass public as the TDK Joker costume...the shirt pattern looks correct, and the blue/gray blazer underneath is easy to see if it is original (considering that no one has a clear image of it from the actual movie, and most folks are guessing as to what it really looked like, aside from using poster images)...I think they work pretty well as reference images, or until we get better ones....:)

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
Guys, we really need to figure out our "favorite" pattern. I've seen some really great ones surface in the last couple days. I really like ramiel's on the rpf, but the six pointed star hex is missing. Jarvis's is great, but there are some random lines missing, jagged edges, and rogue pixels. Very nice pattern, but not a prime candidate I think. Lemme know if you guys got some more out there as I will need them asap!

Number six is also my favorite...the only thing is if you zoom in you can see that there are jagged lines and stray pixels like I said....idk....i'll get one that I have up on here...very precise but it is missing some hexagons

Any word from Hazy on the vector graphic?

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
I also like #6, but I like #5's color. :b
I think I'm just going to grab a purple button down shirt, purple pants (pin stripes if I can find some) a tie, and mabey a white/tan vest from one of the local-ish thrift stores. And I'll just dye the vest purple. It should make the outfit alot cooler to wear, and deffintly ALOT easier to put together being just the vest and the shirt. I don't think you can confuse the Joker with anyone else anyway. :lol
I wish I had enough sence (and patience) to do a stencil for a shirt. I don't know were to begin on making a stenil to do so.:wacko I have however been practicing my creepy. -

I'm also working on the voice, currently its a little bit to deep, and Richard Nixon-ish. :wacko

Me, too...but I think that could be achieved by using a base-colored, light blue fabric, and print the pattern in dark blue on that...

I thought about that at first also, but gave up on it, as a stencil has to be a negative of the desired image....can you imagine the nightmare on cutting all those little circles and squares out?

Same here...I'm getting better, as my son's think I sound like him a little...I'm a twangy Southern American mimicking a Western Australian mimicking a Chicago/Gotham criminal....go figure!:lol

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
EXACTLY! I think I'd be driven mad just trying to figure out how to cut the stencil out, LOL. Not to mention dabbing the fabric markers properly, in the correct ammount with no bleed through's,etc. That'd make me go crazy. :lol

Re: Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest
#6 is the most accurate. The color of #5 is definitely off. Take a look at sithcamaro's shirt. Printed it onto white cotton and came out great. You WILL see people try to convince you the shirt is purple, but it IS in fact a deep navy blue on a very expensive fabric. if you would like, hit up Toby Markham (sithcamaro) for the color code of the color he used and the fabric he used... his looks great.
No word from Hazy i don't think... if you want, Rob, go ahead and PM him on the Hype.
