Jawa robe material

As a member of the RPF I can state, without a doubt, the monkscloth was NOT used on the Jawa robes. Whatever the material was it is not generally available in fabric stores. For years fans have been using The Ralph Lauren Estate blanket as a substitute . It is made from the correct material and has the correct weave. You can find them FS from time to time on Ebay and costuming boards.

Actually, the Ralph Lauren fabric is not correct either. It looks similar at first glance but in reality they are very different.
I agree, it is a close enough fabric, but wanted to make sure people knew that it wasn't THE EXACT type of fabric.
I've been looking for the jawa/tusken raider fabric for years and have come up dry.

Thanks for that tidbit of info. But if it's the best option, then it's the best option.

I'll share this info, I am doing a tusken and I found a great chunck of fabric for the outer robe at wal-mart it was a large weave upholestry fabric that left me needing the inner robe after alot of looking I found a great"looking" linen but the fabric was too light weight and too thin then I decided to just look for the right "type" of fabric regardless of color and this is what I found. These are the exact same fabric. I needed the fabric to be a tan/beige color so I just bought a small piece and tried soaking it in bleach. It took overnight but all of the dark burgandy came right out. I dont think you would need to bleach it though I was just sharing that info you could dye the fabric with dark brown dye and you'd be set. It has a very heavy weight and large weave and it's 100% cotton too. I bought it at Hobby Lobby. My Hobby Lobby has more if you cant get it where you are maybe I could help you enough to do a Jawa for a girl would fit in a large flat rate box. It's $9.99 a yard and it's 54" wide so you would need about 3 1/2-4 yards for a HUGE cloak with plenty for the hood and any mistakes. Let me know.
