Ironman Helmet (Pepakura, pic heavy)

Hey guys. It's been a long while since I built anything, but when I saw Dancing Fool's PEP files on SIWDAT, I had to give it a shot. The following build took about 10 hours on a Saturday, using hot glue, 110lb cardstock, and an x-acto knife set. Pretty happy with how the PEP turned out. :)

That looks excellent.

Next step is to go pick up the resin, respirator, brushes, fiberglass matting, etc. and get to work on it. The mask is a separate part, but the rest of the helmet needs it to be in place to hold its shape, so I'll probably seal the whole thing and see how it does. Maybe fiberglass it separately, if the resin helps it hold its shape.

That looks really nice what is height scale, I don't need the width or the depth numbers just the height. Also what you might want to try is resining the outside and resining the inside of the helmet first without any fiberglass cloth or mat, because when I did it my first time which now my helmet is damaged beyond repair thanks to a 6 year old the coat of resin on the outside and inside was enough to make it strong enough, my helmet only got destroyed when he took it outside to play with it and bashed it with a rock.

Sitting on the table, it's exactly 9 inches tall.

Your pep build looks great!! One method you might look at trying is using "rondo" to slushcast the inside of the helmet. Ben Streeper did a great tutorial series on youtube. You can get it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBQhD...ext=1&index=14. It's a pretty useful method, and saves a ton of time when compared to fiberglassing. It also eliminates any chance of air bubbles forming under the fiberglass. Hope you find it helpful.

polyurethane spray sealer will help strengthen the paper build, give it a few coats of that before starting.
