Iron Man Rattlecan Colors

Does anyone have any suggestions for rattlecan colors for an Iron Man build? I'm trying my hand at one of Dungbeetle's pep helmets. Thanks!

OK, here's what I just used--and I'm real happy with the results.

Duplicolor auto spray Bordeaux red (you'll probably need 2-3 cans; they're small) for the helmet portion. It's got a nice deep red/crimson color and has a metallic sheen to it.

Krylon Short Cuts Gold Leaf for the faceplate.

I tested out several colors and these were the ones I liked the best. A lot of the paint jobs I've seen seem to have the helmet portion too red, but this was a nice compromise, and it being auto paint, it has a nice luster to it as well. The gold portion I wanted to have a metallic look, but not too shiny, and the Gold Leaf did this admirably.

I'll try to post pictures here in the next couple of days, but I hope this helps.

Its so many variations of Red i recomend to experiment and test it out. also try to experiment with different base colors it will give it different shine.
I also recome for you and us that is Iron Man fans to consider the new Iron Man forum www.siwdat.com/forum . Hopefully it will work as good as The Dented Helmet work for Boba Fett fans as this will for Iron Man.
IM Info gatherd in one place i think is a good idea. Just look at this amazing forum how well, polite, helpfull and constructive the forum works.. Its something to live up to.

OK, I'm gonna try to post some pics. This is my first time using an image hosting service, so hopefully I can get it to work.

The pics are of the first paint attempt; I haven't added the lenses for the eyes yet in these pictures, and I need to some paint touchups right around the eyes. But hopefully this will give a good example of the results I got using the paint colors I had indicated in my first post.

Hope this helps!

We have an affiliate site, run by the same people who run TDH where you content would be more than welcome! This site is the the Replica Prop Forum, a site dedicated to all props, costumes, and models. Please consider registering and posting your non-Star Wars content there!

Does this mean we don't want you here at TDH? Not at all! We would love for you to continue to participate here but would ask that you move any non-Star Wars content to the RPF!
