I'm also doing a Sandtrooper, so I've been working on that costume too
Here's my Hyper-firm Lewis gun well on it's way to full conversion
I just finished painting it today & added the sling (not even fully cured yet)
I know, the DLT-19's don't have wood-grain
But it looks so pretty, I had to wood-grain it

Not necessarily
IIRC
The Real Lewis gun that Sci-fire molded was an early version with a wooden stock
The later versions (used in ANH) were Bakelite stocks.
or...
They were resin casts painted black

That's actually an MG42 in the pic there. Did Sandtroopers have those too? Besides the Lewis, I thought their only other long gun was the MG34 for the shoot in Tunisia. No?

The Sandtroopers carried the MG-34, The Lewis Gun, and an MG-15

The MG-42 is used by Dengar in ESB as well, but not by Sandtroopers.
