How to produce a glossy surface on a prop (Vader helmet improvement)

Although I'm working on my Boba helmets I thought about buying one of those Darth Vader supreme edition costumes. I think they are not bad, but there could be done some improvement on the helmet's surface. I think it could be more shiny, glossy and less vinyl-looking. Does anybody know how I could get there?:confused

The plastic polish they use on TK armor would probably work great. NOVUS #2
