Help - Glossy Black for Vader

I will be painting a new Vader dome for C4 this weekend and need to get a good gloss black. I had read somewhere that it is best to spray it flat (or use black primer) and then hit it with the gloss clearcoat (I can't find the link for this anymore though :p ). The reason given was that the gloss clearcoat does not stick well on top of the gloss black. They also said it actually turns out less shiny. Has anyone had any experience with this?
Thx!

I primed mine with duplicolor gray primer, then duplicolor universal black. I then took the dome and mask to an autobody shop and they shot it wiht highgloss clearcoat...its gorgeous now.

Thx - Great idea. I too am using the Duplicolor primer and have used the Universal Black on the rest of the mask. Did you sand and buff out the U-Black before you took it to the autobody shop for the clear, or just leave it as it was sprayed?

I left it as sprayed and told them if they needed to do more prep to call me and let me know the cost. I wet sanded my bases coats all the way up to 1200 grit, so she was smoooooth.
